Thanks for watching guys! While my health and camera were in impairment during production, (watch till the end), the video was overall a ton of fun to make. This is easily the most time consuming episode to date, (100+ hours all together), but I can tell you that it was so worth it in the end. I encourage you to see the video description for more details. EDIT: I have literally been asked over 20 times if I am British/Canadian/Australian or if my Escape is right hand drive. I'm American, I mirrored the entire opening scene and all other driving scenes to produce a fake right hand drive on the left side of the road effect. That is how it is in Japan, I wanted to take the parody to that level and also to confuse people. I even changed the digital speedometer to read KPH instead of MPH. Also while it appears as though I destroyed the clutch in the opening scene, I do know how to drive a manual. I had never driven one prior to the filming of this video, but I had to film some scenes in a manual car because the parody just wouldn't have been the same. However in October 2017, I bought a 1990 Mazda Miata that is a stick. Only about 5% of vehicles sold in America today are manual and only about 1/4th of Americans know how to drive one.
Vectrex4Life This is why I love this channel. There's not allot of people that make videos like you, which makes the whole thing a lot more interesting to watch. And I appreciate all the time and effort you've put into making this video happen because it was a blast to watch👍😃

Glad to see you were just putting even more effort into it! I enjoyed the parody intro. Keep up the good work man! You got a fan here for sure 👌
I love that you chose "Remember Me" as your intro song. My town sucked, and all we had was a single Stage 2 cabinet at a Brunswick bowling center. Nearly every time I played, I chose that song.
Ah! This was increadibly impressive. The dedication and love you put into your videos even though you're a small channel, make you one of my favourite channels. You put more work into this video than I worked in real life the last five weeks (I have a half-time job though) If you want some constructive criticism, however, I'll just say this: Your steering wheel and pedals are on the wrong side of the car. And you drive on the wrong side of the road. Heh.
Edvin Jonsson Thank you very much! Right hand driving on the left side of the road is the standard in Japan, so I just took the parody that much further, haha.
I was huge into Initial D (still am today after all these years) and I remember seeing Mountain Vengeance on the store shelves at Target. I've been tempted a couple of times into buying it, but I never did. Now that you showed footage of this game first hand, thank you for making my decision the right one after all these years! I'm glad to meet another Arcade Stage owner, I bought a Ver. 1 from a local arcade in town when they changed places and it was something I had my eye on for a few years that the owner wanted too much for the condition it was. I got both cabs for 300 bucks, and they do need some detailing and work on them, so their my pet project as of now. I'm working on trying to find card readers for them as the main thing, and I can upgrade to Ver. 3 if I get one more disc on ebay for a fair price. I do still have my Ver. 3 cards all these years later, I just hope they work when I get a working reader for them. Do you know where you got your machines from? I'm inquiring to see if they might have parts for these machines for sale that I need. If you need another voice or info on the Arcade Stage games, I know a lot about them from when I played them in the arcades over a decade ago when I was in high school. I remember the online teams that existed and some of the feuding that happened (although it wasn't really harsh, most of the trash talk happened online). I've done a podcast episode on my history of the Initial D arcade games found here: aoypodcast.com/2016/05/25/aoy-podcast-guest-spot-initial-d-arcade-stage-talk-w-the-arcade-hunters/ Thanks for the video, I also subscribed to you as well.
I remember when i was a kid my parents took me on a week-long cruise on the Carnival Miracle, one of those cruise ships that's intended for adults who like to gamble. Needless to say, i was pretty bored with it, so i ended up spending most of my time in the arcade room playing The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift with the other kids my age. However, the arcade also had a japanese-looking driving game in the corner that i had never heard of, but it was out of order so i didn't give it much thought. Then a couple of days before the end of the cruise, someone managed to get the machine up and running. I had so much fun drifting down the narrow mountain passes that i don't think i touched the Tokyo Drift machine again for the rest of the cruise, even though i had put in enough time to unlock all the best cars in that game. After experiencing the precise handling of that other game, Tokyo Drift seemed like a children's toy. Needless to say, i discovered many years later that the game was in fact one of the Initial D arcade games, most likely the first one but I'm not completely sure. I've never managed to find another one of those machines again, unfortunately. If anyone knows where i might be able to find one in Connecticut, i would greatly appreciate it if they could tell me where.
That's very cool. I like Tokyo Drift and I wouldn't mind having it, but it cannot compare to any Initial D arcade game. I would check your local Craigslist and online auction sites. I got my pair of machines from Captain's Arcade Auction in Anaheim CA. There's usually at least one pair of Initial D 3 machines at every auction and they do ship worldwide. But I imagine the cost would be a nightmare because they weigh 1,500 pounds.
Yeah, i highly doubt i would be able to afford anything like that, though. I was thinking more like an arcade that specializes in old games like that. I can't afford a machine of my own, but i wouldn't mind driving across the state to play on someone else's. Also, i looked up some Tokyo Drift gameplay, and now i think it might have been the original F&F arcade game that i played all those years ago. It was so long ago it's hard to remember, but i do remember that the gameplay involved doing _a lot_ of nitrous wheelies.
Is it possible to emulate Initial D Arcade Stage? Like with MAME or something? I do actually own Extreme Stage for the PS3, but it's hard to get a race going since all the menus are in Japanese (unlike, say, the Initial D game for the PS1 which has it's menus in English despite the rest of the game being in Japanese).
You can emulate Arcade Stages 1-3 in DEmul. They all play well in my experience. I'm not sure on which other ones have been released but you can play Stages 6-8 in Teknoparrot. Since Stages 4 through 8 all originally ran on PCs anyways, if you have adequate specs, they'll run just fine.
I have a few things to point out. 1: Why the hell is Sayuki (HER NAME'S NOT FUCKING SIMONE) a playable driver? Mako drove the Sil80, she was just the co-driver. 2: Iketani's first name is Koichiro, that's where Cole came from. 3: If the TOKYOPOP translation of the manga's anything to follow, these are treated more like nicknames (Proof of this being a text box reading 'Kyoichi "Kyle" Sudo' showing up during his introduction). All things aside, this was a good video. Watched it about 12 times, and I still enjoy it.
I remember playing an Initial D arcade game in Chuck E. Chesse back through 2012-2017 and the cool part was when you got in the arcade machine, it would tilt left or right, depending on which way you turned the wheel. I miss playing that arcade machine and it is not there anymore.
Man you're living the dream with that v2 machine, I wish I would have bought the V3 from my local arcade when it was available. Didn't visit for a few months then I show up, the machine is gone. They tell me they threw it in the trash.
Yes! I was busy with college for a while, then I come back into town and it's long thrown away. At least I still have my card with my fully tuned ae86 on it.
I played the one with the moving cars before my local arcade got bought out by a larger company and the cars got removed. I loved it. You could usually find me leaning against the 86 trying to challenge other arcade goers. I was pretty good at it, but not as great as I wish. Just enough to wreck the casual gamers.
It is incredible how you entertain people, like,i have started seeing this video,i go to the bathroom and When i back to my cellphilone i have seen that have already passed 30 minutes of video, without i even seeing
I got this game years ago at a library book sale in Circleville, OH. I had no knowledge an Initial D game ever released for the PC(I didn't even know about the anime at the time, I had only played Arcade Stage 3 and 4 at GameWorks years before when I was 7 or 8 and I loved it). I got it for the brilliant price $0.99, and heck, its not even that much. I got so tired of "Initialize", I changed the music to "Around the World" by move. The rest of the music I also changed to more original Eurobeat songs. Years later, I got a PS3 and bought Initial D: Extreme Stage. I wish Initial D machines were more common. Only 1 arcade in my area has one, it was a Stage 8. EDIT: The arcade that has the Stage 8 just got an older Stage 3, from the GameWorks mentioned above.
I remember when I was a kid and played one of the Initial D games in an arcade. It was my first exposure to the series and, being a dumb kid, I sucked at it. Then that arcade closed and got replaced with an aquarium...
I still play both MC3 and LA Remix on my PSP I like L.A. Remix more because, even if it has less content than 3, i have more memories with L.A. Remix blasting Day N' Nite while driving a Lamborghini Murcielago DUB Edition
The menu sounds when you hover over the options will immediately explain this and bring shudders to those who played PC shovelware racing games back in the day - Mountain Vengeance is made by the same people and likely runs on the same "engine" as Midnight Outlaw Illegal Street Drag.
Biggoomba 223 Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it! Yes, Midnight Club 3 is up there with my favorite racing games and I knew that song would fit well, haha.
Man I just got back from a trip to Tokyo and I played the shit out of an initial d game at my favorite arcade near my hotel and now I’m here trying to figure out how to relive it.
The Initial D Arcade Stage games have some aspects that don't make sense. I know it's an arcade game, but things like rapidly shifting up and down to turn faster is just strange. One gripe I have with the games is that your gear rations and even how fast the car accelerates is adjusted based on what track you are racing on, meaning on Irohazaka you can't get over 150 but on Mt. Taikan (where Ryosuke and Shinigami battled) your car magically goes 210! And having to turn the wheel the whole 270° to get around many corners is irritating.
Mark Lutus Yeah they don't always make sense. But there's really no other series like it. All the "fantasy" techniques that the first 3 have make them pretty tough to master and that's one reason why they're addicting. Not simulation, but not overly unrealistic like so many other arcade racers are. Cranking the wheel and shifting is half the fun in my opinion, adjusting the force feedback strength to your liking helps.
Yeah, I can accept everything unrealistic about them, but it seems like over time the arcade games have gotten more and more aggressive with changing how fast the cars are. That's the only thing I can't get over.
Mark Lutus Meanwhile in Maximum Tune you have supercars like the Aventador and Corvette ZR1 nerfed to 300 HP stock even though the R35 just uses a different tuning style altogether.
I have been watching these ever since I was 8, and now as a 12 year old I still love these videos. Never stop these videos, they are amazing. And amazingly funny.
Where is this? the environment looks exactly like a Californian desert, roads and everything yet you're driving a right hand side car and on the other side of the road. Am confuse
Frysco The entire opening scene was mirrored to produce a fake right hand drive on the left side of the road effect. That's how it is in Japan, and I wanted to take the parody to that level. But you are right about where it was filmed!
I picked up a copy of Initial D Special Stage (Basically Ver. 2 for the Playstation 2) at a local used game store in town just a few days ago. I thought I'd ask if they had it and luckily they said they had a copy in the back. Good game, but completely in Japanese. My PS2 is HDD modded so I was able to fully play it.
Siknik64 Yeah from what I've heard, the DC2 took a big hit in performance, so for example a time of 2:30 on Irohazaka downhill in not achievable like it is in Ver 2. Ver 3 is the same way.
ok so heres something if you want to try the plastation versions and cant find an arcade PS2- Initial D special stage - Its basically arcade stage 2 Psp- Initial D Street Stage - Its arcade stage 3 with a brand new tuning system that will make you hate your life after every race. However the game itself is tons of fun Ps3- Initial D Extreme stage - I have no knowledge about this version I never played it because in never had a ps3.
Jack Shikikunt Actually, JAM’s PlayStation game and Sega’s PSP game are the best as they are the only ones with local multiplayer (split screen and wireless play respectively).
this video has been sitting in my watch later list for a long time.. after watching it i wished i watched it earlier, great video overall, sick eurobeat and ahh nice knees..
when i heard about how bad this game was i thought "well maybe the fans are just picky and it's not too bad and it's the only game on PC so let's see" then i see this........i get it
You say this but in my canadian arcade in montreal, theres literally 6+ initial D machines and people make lines to take turns, it feels like the only people who come here is too play initial d, the rest is just casual. although they changed it for "Maximum tunes 5" machine recently, but its kind of the same game just with better graphics.
LOL, when you went to the shot of your desktop I thought the video got minimized for some reason because that's my desktop wallpaper too. Also, your content is great, keep up the good work, subbed.
Mountain Vengeance is a broken game in the wrong way. Just like Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, but Big Rigs are unambiguously fun and you don't really need to work the shit out of yourself to get anything, this game is shit and forces you to play it simply if you want to access anything from the game.

Your steering wheel and pedals are on the wrong side of the car. And you drive on the wrong side of the road.
Heh.
Edvin Jonsson Thank you very much! Right hand driving on the left side of the road is the standard in Japan, so I just took the parody that much further, haha.
Vectrex4Life Geez, I forgot about that. I thought you were in Britain for some reason ... I don't know. That was a nice touch.
I really really loved the polybius joke this is amazing you deserve much more fame
Also, Mako's player picture is actually of Kazumi.
Rip itsuki 4th stage
I've done a podcast episode on my history of the Initial D arcade games found here: aoypodcast.com/2016/05/25/aoy-podcast-guest-spot-initial-d-arcade-stage-talk-w-the-arcade-hunters/
Thanks for the video, I also subscribed to you as well.
16:58 Goddamnit! You revealed the meaning of the D in Project D!
Ryosuke Takahashi HOW DID THEY KNOW ABOUT IT ITS 2004
i am joe *I D O N T K N O W*

NOT EUROBEAT INTENSIFIES
This game right here, mountain vengance makes flatout 3 look like a decent game
6:22 No way... real moving cars!?!? Dude that’s amazing!
yes it called initial d arcade stage 4 limited, if you didnt read the bottom left. its only available in sega's joypolis in tokyo. I WANNA HAVE A TRY
That Midnight Club Garage music awww man right in the childhood.
TheNeonGuy ikr
Yea :/
I remember playing an Initial D arcade game in Chuck E. Chesse back through 2012-2017 and the cool part was when you got in the arcade machine, it would tilt left or right, depending on which way you turned the wheel. I miss playing that arcade machine and it is not there anymore.
*I N I T I A L I I I I Z E*
Man you're living the dream with that v2 machine, I wish I would have bought the V3 from my local arcade when it was available.
Didn't visit for a few months then I show up, the machine is gone. They tell me they threw it in the trash.
They threw it in the trash? Man that sucks. I would've rescued it.
Yes! I was busy with college for a while, then I come back into town and it's long thrown away.
At least I still have my card with my fully tuned ae86 on it.
This is such a well-made video on such a horrible game, btw thanks for using such great B footage it introduced me to a lot of cool looking games!
this video saved me from doin something completly stupid
I love how you keep the ABSOLUTISM RACE option throughout the video.
Ok the one you showed with the real moving cars is my new life goal.
It's over in a large sega building in akiba iirc
I played the one with the moving cars before my local arcade got bought out by a larger company and the cars got removed. I loved it. You could usually find me leaning against the 86 trying to challenge other arcade goers. I was pretty good at it, but not as great as I wish. Just enough to wreck the casual gamers.
10:32 I love the way you just smile as you slump in the seat. 😂 tis hilarious!
I like the fact that he was talking about guardrails at 20:47 whilst driving shingo’s eg6
Irony...
You just happened to fall into my recommend, and I wasn't disappointed. You earned a new sub.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic video to come back with.
Thank you!
That phone is a trooper
19:32 that midnight club music, an eargaism
Yung Cobain oh god the nostalgia, need to find my ps2
Yep
MOM WHERE IS MY PS2
I still play both MC3 and LA Remix on my PSP
I like L.A. Remix more because, even if it has less content than 3, i have more memories with L.A. Remix blasting Day N' Nite while driving a Lamborghini Murcielago DUB Edition
Bro. Just the intro to this video was tottaly WORTH IT. (Your whole video was really enjoyable. Subscribed)
Hijikata Toushirou Thank you! Glad you found it entertaining.
7:08-7:10 look at takumi on the screen I just noticed that
The menu sounds when you hover over the options will immediately explain this and bring shudders to those who played PC shovelware racing games back in the day - Mountain Vengeance is made by the same people and likely runs on the same "engine" as Midnight Outlaw Illegal Street Drag.
I have this... For the meme obviously. It's garbage.
I Played This when i was 5 yr old. Now im 15. Now i understand why its diffrent from the manga or anime or anything else about initial D.
It's hardly a meme.
Try big rigs, now that's a meme.
YOUR WINNER!
You think big rigs is a meme racer?
Supra Mayro Kratt
Gerpar supre mayro kart is intentionally bad
SUBSCRIBED AFTER THIS!!!! I have watched some of the other forgotten games and they’re great! Keep it up!!!!!!
Thank you very much! Glad I can provide entertaining content.
I actually played arcade stage 3 in a arcade place, never knew a japan arcade would come to an American arcade,
Oh and I played that for one hour,
Thanks RUclips for putting this video in my recommended. Very good video btw.
19:31 Aye I see you with that midnight club 3 music!
Biggoomba 223 Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it! Yes, Midnight Club 3 is up there with my favorite racing games and I knew that song would fit well, haha.
Did they even watch the anime
Mark Lutus Meanwhile in Maximum Tune you have supercars like the Aventador and Corvette ZR1 nerfed to 300 HP stock even though the R35 just uses a different tuning style altogether.
the latest arcade stage uses a 6 speed gearbox, so yeah
But still no clutch ;)
Really like your content, I've watched your game reviews dozens of times and still none of them feel old. Please keep it up!
Thank you very much, will do!
Mt Akina has really seen better days...
I have been watching these ever since I was 8, and now as a 12 year old I still love these videos.
Never stop these videos, they are amazing. And amazingly funny.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy them!
Ohhh that makes alot more sense! And alot more funnier too.
Literally laughed throughout all off it you made bunta proud with this vid my friend
no one wants to remember this shit game
ALSO I JUST NOTICED THAT SHINGO IS THE ONLY ONE WITHOUT A DUBBED NAME
Kashi Kukku Apparently Bunta was left intact in the Tokyopop dub too.
i had as much fun watching this video as I'm sure you did making it this channel is super underrated
Thank you very much, I'm glad you found it entertaining!
5:23 - That tombstone should read "Insert Coin To Continue...".😜
"Alright this is the starting line!" (Glitch Goblin) "Here is a nice helping of tasty glitch!
You mean the Glitch Gremlin?
I picked up a copy of Initial D Special Stage (Basically Ver. 2 for the Playstation 2) at a local used game store in town just a few days ago. I thought I'd ask if they had it and luckily they said they had a copy in the back. Good game, but completely in Japanese. My PS2 is HDD modded so I was able to fully play it.
Siknik64 Cool. I've yet to try Special Stage, but I know it has a few extra courses than Version 2.
It's also (supposedly) made the vehicles more balanced.
Siknik64 Yeah from what I've heard, the DC2 took a big hit in performance, so for example a time of 2:30 on Irohazaka downhill in not achievable like it is in Ver 2. Ver 3 is the same way.
Extreme Stage for PS3 was based off on Arcade Stage 4.
Been 4 years since i have been watching you holy crap you deserve atleast 10k subs
7:07 Even Takumi warns you about how much you're about to suffer.
"Nope."
"Stop."
Good on you for getting v2 machines. I've always wanted a pair too, that was by far the best version.
ok so heres something if you want to try the plastation versions and cant find an arcade
PS2- Initial D special stage - Its basically arcade stage 2
Psp- Initial D Street Stage - Its arcade stage 3 with a brand new tuning system that will make you hate your life after every race. However the game itself is tons of fun
Ps3- Initial D Extreme stage - I have no knowledge about this version I never played it because in never had a ps3.
CaptainShadowGaming Extreme Stage was pretty much a port of Stage 4. Though I think we're long overdue for PS4 Initial D.
Initial d ultimate stage for ps4 coming in 2086 XD
Extreme stage is kinda the best of the PlayStation releases, just needs more care i guess
special is the best home platform port imo.
You know what other game had the same music for everything? Hong Kong 97
12:32 "There you go kids, IT'S TOUGE TIME" dead xD
when i heard about how bad this game was i thought "well maybe the fans are just picky and it's not too bad and it's the only game on PC so let's see" then i see this........i get it
As soon as that eurobeat kicks in, I smiled
Super Eurobeat Vol. 586
9:37 The hell is going on with the FD's headlights
You say this but in my canadian arcade in montreal, theres literally 6+ initial D machines and people make lines to take turns, it feels like the only people who come here is too play initial d, the rest is just casual. although they changed it for "Maximum tunes 5" machine recently, but its kind of the same game just with better graphics.
I've played the 4th arcade game in Phoenix USA. Most of the people playing them don't seem to know what initial D is, but they love it.
THEY ARE MONSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL, when you went to the shot of your desktop I thought the video got minimized for some reason because that's my desktop wallpaper too. Also, your content is great, keep up the good work, subbed.
Haha thanks!
