First off, I love your videos. You’ve got such a relaxed delivery and a wonderful knack for explaining stuff. Awesome voice too. Anyway, as it happens, I’ve been wondering about timbre-matching different brands of speakers and your experience has helped reduce my anxiety about mixing Atmos speakers from another company with my bed-level ones. Thanks!
I'm so happy to help!👍🏾😁
Good use was considering the same thing for my old Energy speakers. Saves me some $$ and allows me to reuse the speakers
This is such a great video! Love your channel!! Love how you demonstrate a speaker and how u do samples. Most reviewers don’t do that and it’s a shame as most people can’t just go to a store to hear this speakers
Thanks so much!
I can say yes to this one. It adds a new sense of immersion to the audio when everything is tone matched and volume matched. I have the Klipsch thx6000lcrs as my mains and the thx5000 surrounds for my surrounds and Atmos. So good. great video as always my man!
Thanks for watching and sharing. 😁
Great video thanks!
Thanks for watching! Don’t forget to like and subscribe! 😁
Great video
Thanks 🙏🏾
I have been wanting to know this also.
O good, at least I'm not the only one! 😀
dear sir, you explain very well. thank you
Thank you 🙏🏾
Good video
Just subbed! Would really love a video on choosing the proper audio output fron a AV reciever. Dolby atmos, auto direct, etc etc. Sometimes i will put on atmos and it seems like 90% of the sound is channeled only thriugh the center channel. Very frustrating.
I will def try midway as a test, thanks for the recommendation!
Thanks for subscribing! 😁 I typically use the auto setting on my Denon. It’ll switch to the content encode. But to your point sometimes that sounds wrong 😑. Dolby Atmos has been pretty solid for me, though. What were you watching that was so center channel focused?
I love testing different speakers and configuration. I'm still mid test. I just found out about the Monolith satellite speakers, AFTER I ordered a Def Tech procinema 400 for the satellites. The only good part is they cost the same, but i get a little sub to repurpose, and all 4 of the height speakers. I've been searching for small form factor speakers to mount on my ceiling and the Def Tech satellites are rated at 35 hz - 30 khz. I might get the Monolith's just to hear the difference between them and a concentric style speaker.
Nearfield subs are a game changer. Biggest improvement I have made for my theater
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the video! I’m so excited to add the 1961 Height speakers to my system. I’m curious as to what you used on your wall to run your speaker wire through? It looks fantastic!
It was some cable management stuff I found at Lowe's it works ok. The adhesive has come off the wall a couple times but it works. I think any of the ones you find in one of those store should work, here's a link to the one I bought: www.lowes.com/pd/Legrand-9-Piece-3-75-in-White-Cord-Cable-Organization-Kit/1000784234
@@HomeTheaterHobbyistexcellent thank you!
The Arendals wipe the floor in those comparisons, as expected 😎
It's good to hear from you! 😁
I concur...
So it's not perfect, but over time we managed to get B&W M1 (the old series) for both our surrounds and our four overheads, and it has definitely helped with steering of sounds between channels to be more seamless.
It also works pretty well with our 707 S2's and HTM61 S2 frontstage, but I couldn't say how much is helped by DIRAC adjusting frequency.
That sounds like a pretty nice setup!
I loved my Take 5 system back in the day. They are still working fine after 26 years! My sister is currently using them for surrounds. Did you just invent height channel speaker stands?😂 now nobody has an excuse to use that ceiling bounce garbage method for Atmos.👍🏼👍🏼
They're great speakers! 👍🏾 Yea, I don't recommend stands that high because they are very unstable at the top but it did work for temporary use. 😁
What would be the best atmos speakers to tonally match a wharfedale EVO setup?
Great video as usual. I have a modest home theater setup. NHT Super Zeros for fronts, Klipsch center, Polk surrounds and Polk sub. I'm happy with it. Most of the rear stuff is mostly special effects to me. I love the tee shirts!
Thanks! How do the NHTs compare to klipsch? I haven’t heard NHT so I’m curious 🧐 😁
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist I have the Super Zeros and I have two NHT C1 speakers in my living room. The Super Zeros are designed to be used with a sub and while I love them both, I like the Super Zeros better.
Ok cool!
Yes! I’m a big fan of Wile E. Coyote, he’s probably my favorite looney tunes character. 😂😂
First lol I think they should although I’ve never had atmos so idk for sure but I always like to have all matching speakers even driver sizes the same
Identical speakers for all positions is ideal but it isn’t always practical. 😁
I have Q acoustics 3070s hanging from my ceiling as heights, Kef front row, Definitive Technology rear, and it all sounds totally integrated.
Nice!!
Good video. However, I would argue that dsp and or tone controls would make a closer match in tone of the floor speakers if it's a different brand. If you have a mid to higher end avr or avp using the parametric e.q. should be good enough to closely match frequencies. I also advise getting a small sub with speaker line connectors and connect them to the surrounds or Atmos speakers like the energy classics you have which will compensate for the low end.
Thanks! DSP and tone controls may help but not everyone is comfortable making those adjustment or have the necessary equipment.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist agreed. But tinkering is part of the fun in this hobby. Thx ✊🏼
That’s true!!!
I actually use the same speakers for my Atmos, a repurposed Energy Take 5.1 set!
😁😁 they work!!!
you should upgrade from the Engerytakeclassic to the NHT Superzero
I have Klipsch RP 8000f as main fronts, RP 400 m for 4 Atmos , and provisional q Acoustics concept 300. For Center channel.
I was planning to sell the main fronts and get another 400m. I thought my goal was to have all 9 channels ( based on your all equal speakers video) Klipsch RP 400m.
In the end Im going to go with Kef R3 for all 3 front channels, because one time , watching the great Showman, and after hear the "singing red hair woman" ( can't remember the name😅) on " The great Showman" I was totally stunned by the sound of it. Took my breath a few seconds.
What do you think about once I get the Kef R3, do you think is better to stick with the RP 400m surrounds and Atmos or "upgrade" to kef r50 Atmos modules? (Which I can get somewhat good price)
Thanks for inspiring me to try new things in my home theater and for all your great advice.
For the best experience I would go all Kef R series if possible. I'm so happy I was able to help you! Let me know what you think once you get everything installed. 😀
Hai I m having marantz processer AV8805A and tone winner AD8300 PA 11 channel Power Amplifier please suggest me a 13.2 Auro 3D speaker
Since you had a Klipsch system advice? I just got RF7III and 64 front stage. I don’t know what I should choose for surrounds. With the twitter difference did know if I should go RP or a different brand
I'd go for Klipsch speakers from the same line as your fronts if possible.
Energy Audio, Jamo, Mirage and Athena are all owned by Klipsch Group and that's why they sound similar
Time to add 4 1723 Height Speakers. Do you have a processor or AVR that supports 11 or 15 channels
I have the Denon AVR X-4400h. It supports 11 channels of processing. I’m using the monoprice monolith 7 channel as my amplifier for the floor level speakers.

My home theater system is made up of KEF Q Series front channel speakers Q750 center Q650 surround Q50a and another pair of Q50a front height speakers the subwoofer Kube 12b 5.1.2 receiver Yamaha Aventage I decided to have all speakers the same brand and model
Nice!!!
And yet they all sound completely different.🤔🔊
what is the best choice atmos speaekrs for arendal 1723 thx HT system
The 1723 Height S
@HomeTheaterHobbyist can I use it on ceiling not on wall
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist
Although because the Arendals are timbre matched, Arendal states that the 1961 Heights or Bookshelves can be integrated with the 1723’s.
I have the 1723 THX S Bookshelves along with the 1723 THX S Center channel.
Upon Arendals recommendation I also just added 1961 Surrounds and Heights. Tonal match should be ideal. I’m in the process of setting the new 1961 stuff up at the moment.
It’s all being pushed by a RZ-50 and I’ll let Dirac do its thing at some point. I’m pretty excited…!!
I have a pair of the Klipsch upward firing Atmos speakers and im not sure that I even want to add them to the equation. I might experiment though.
What made you change your HSU RESEARCH SUBWOOFER.
I still have the HSU as my second sub, I'll be doing a video on it soon.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist 👍
Where can I purchase a pair of the satellite Energy Take speakers ?
I found some here on Amazon: amzn.to/3LUFIWS
not the 5.1 , just a pair of the two satellite speakers .
What about rear speakers should I match them with same brand or not
Rears are similar to Atmos in that they mostly carry sound effects not vocals so it's not as critical if they tonally match. But if you can go with the same brand it will offer a more cohesive experience so I recommend going with the same brand and model if possible.
Yes they need to be timber match
Thanks!
100hz crossover requirement means your speaker has no sub bass. 100hz upto 300hz is Bass and mid-bass is found
Yeah the Energy Takes have no bass, I have to cross mine over at 150 hz or they start to bottom out even as Atmos channels
You're right the Takes don't have much bass at all. They must be crossed over.
My sound system consists of 6 SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers (2 for the mains, 2 for the side channels, and 2 for the rears), an SVS Ultra Center speaker, 4 SVS Prime Elevation speakers ceiling mounted for Dolby Atmos and 2 SVS SB-3000 Subwoofers. The system is powered by a Parasound Halo A52+ 5 channel amplifier and a Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A 11 channel AVR with dual AC Infinity AIRCOM T9's keeping them cool, and all are connected to a Panamax M5400-PM Power Conditioner. The output power of this Living Room home theater system is 2,800 watts R.M.S.
