The "yaki" part of okonomiyaki actually means burning or roasting. And the Hiroshiman style of okonomiyaki is often referred to as Hiroshima-yaki. An international student from America back in uni in Tokyo liked Hiroshima-yaki, but he seemed anxious every time he said that word in front of me Hiroshiman. I once asked him why, after getting him drunk. He said "because I'm from the nation that did another type of Hiroshima-yaki".

My friend took me to a famous Okonomiyaki spot in Asakusa and it was the worst food I ever had in Japan. It was the saltiest crappy food I ever had. They dropped the ball that day.
