Yes, this song and most of Planet Zero was written in 2020. 1/2 of Shinedown have a side gig of lead singer Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers called Smith and Myers. They wrote a song called "Not Mad Enough", that was specifically written about George Floyd. Check it out....

We saw Shinedown a couple months ago. I don’t recall this song being played, but I remember how refreshing it was to have a front man who didn’t have to swear every other word, who seemed genuinely nice and didn’t shove woke politics down the audience’s throat.

This was a great review Shinedown always has something to say that really relates to what's going on around us even when we might not be aware.
The great thing about shinedown is that a let's people from every side relate to it, you guys think it was about democrats and BLM, etc.... other reviewers have pointed it to J6 and people standing outside capitol houses like michigan's with Ar-15s , if you ever see any of their interviews they mention that the problem is stuff like this that tries to pin them down, shinedown is not ted nugent or kid rock , it si for everybody that is in the middle , in other words we don't approve of the BLM riots or the J6 insurrection, they are both fucked up and thjis song applies to both, we do not care about culture wars on both sides from the left or the right , they both are doing it. anyways i respect your review and shinedown is the best american hard rock band of the last 10 years.

How talented are shinefown that their songs can hit everybody in different ways
they are also strong mental health advocates and this album was written in the height of the shut down of the world. every song can stir an thought or emotion for any side.

I believe the album Planet Zero points out the extreme far left as well as the extreme far right.

“They” are not recovered heroine addicted. The lead singer ,Brent, is a recovering drug/alcohol addict, Not any of the others. Also, they are not a Christian rock band. At least 2 of the members are conservative, the other 2 keep it close to the best. I’ve been following them for 15 years.

They are ex heroine users who got clean, found God and became a Christian rock band
No Brent was the only drug & alcohol addicted member he got clean. The rest of the band had no addictions. One old member did & he isn't in the band anymore. They aren't a Christian band they have never called them selves a Christian band. The name Shinedown came from a painting that had a light shining on it nothing to do with God. Brent does believe in God not sure what the other band members.
