    I have diagnosed ADHD and when I found your channel, I like watching but was convinced it wasn't for me. I would love to excel at several things and have a lot of interrsts, but accepted that productivity channels never work for me - being rigorously consistent just isn't realistic for people with ADHD. But your approuch to productivity is so positve and reframes it as something that is achivable and something that can be enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, it's really inspiring

    • @vaughngene
      @vaughngene  4 месяца назад +22

      Hey I'm glad it helps! though I don't have diagnosed ADHD, I actually deal with a lot of the symptoms myself, and much like you, the typical routes also never worked for me.
      It actually led to lowering my self esteem, so I made a commitment years ago to follow my intuition and nothing else.
      since then,
      I found this way to be REALLY effective in helping me excel in multiple areas, so I think it's something that can really help others also.

    This is what has been happening to me for last few weeks. I'm staying in that valley of consistency waves way more than the peak. Peak comes to me once in a week, and when I try to replicate that, I think, "I gotta be super dedicated, just think about my goal all day, and work intensely". But when you said that peak comes when you're not too lazy or not trying too hard, it got me thinking about my peaks. And I realised, that's what exactly happened to me on peak days, that I was not trying too hard. I suppose, on the next days, I was biased to think that peak was only because of my intense motivation and trying that day. But now I know where I went wrong, thanks to you! Now, I will focus on getting things done, instead of trying! Thanks for explaining the science of consistency so amazingly Sir!

    I like roboticism. I don’t have to think as hard to find success because I know what has to be done. People perceive this as boring and rigid but it allows for the ultimate freedom and spontaneity. If the work is done, the play is stress free. Not to mention I trust the hell out of myself because I’ve seen me do and say what I say I’m going to do and say so many, many times.
    I’ve had a hard time finding relatable people in life. It seems that I can relate to you, and you’re inspiring me to follow my dream of learning the piano (when I already have too many interests). I want it now, not later.

    • @vaughngene

      Nice, yea I agree. It's a lot easier to do the other things when you don't have that work lingering over you.
      And yeah overtime as we just do this more, it helps us believe in ourselves a bit more. Helps us find our realistic limits too. Which could be better than we think.

    I see those guitars in the background. Even just playing an instrument can help you so much on your journey to self improvement, at least in my experience. Learn a couple songs you really like, especially if those songs are complex, like some math rock type American Football shit. Then you will be motivated to actually learn music theory and make your own songs, that sort of motivation seems to transfer to other aspects of my life, I've been learning calculus and advanced physics lately too, just because I felt like it and I think playing music really helped motivate me to just learn more about everything I want to learn about

    • @vaughngene

    In my life valleys or should I say trenches have been the most consistent ironically. I'm 18 and I've had multiple dreams and aspirations but due to prolonged bad mental health I'm now in a place where I feel way too lost. My mind blank and I seem to not remember my dreams. It's a stormy heart and it breaks me more as I wanna be the fire for people. But I fear a lot. Ain't born with much money and I fear starting new things as it'll cost my dad more when he is spending for my tuition and medications ( recently I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder). He says he wants to. He only have me. But still I want to work, It's considered a bit shame for parents for their kids to work part-time at my hometown, as we are just suppose to study and study. That's why I want to start online but my mental health is really curbing me the last few years..worse than how it was before and I'm failing to be consistent. I'm also recovering from bad cognitive impairment and due to my bipolar I feel get into my depressive disorder every once in a while ..in only a day......
    but I really want to start again. I lost my prepubescents and pubescent childhood to my mental health but not anymore. I want to live and dream as I know my dad also wants that, for me to live. I will learn to be consistent and live and breathe without feeling a stone block on my chest.
    I try to quiet down the other voices in my head that shames me every day for being a loser.

    Great video! I've been in a very long valley of inconsistency. I have a question. You say that when we're on a down on a valley it's not good to force it and try to do a little thing of what we should do. You also say we shouldn't do the things that takes our energy like social media or watching RUclips until we've done all the productive things in that day. What would be your advice then for when we're on a valley. Just do a little productive thing and then do those other things? That would surely keep us in that valley way longer for days. What should we do then on the days we only do very little productive things?

    • @vaughngene
      @vaughngene  2 месяца назад +1

      Yep, it sounds counterintuitive but yes, do something productive, even if it’s a little bit, and then go do something else.
      I find that most people will eventually gather momentum naturally.
      Including myself.
      And you’ll come to terms with stopping the attention grabbers on your own time.
      -
      The main idea is that you don’t wanna beat yourself up for not doing as much as you ‘wish’ to do.
      Because THAT will surely keep you in a valley.

      @AndresArosemena 2 месяца назад

      @@vaughngene thanks for the reply. But that "and then go do something else" includes watching Netflix, RUclips, etc.? Or should that something else be another type of not productive activity that's not so engaging?

    • @vaughngene
      @vaughngene  2 месяца назад +1

      @@AndresArosemena it can be RUclips, Netflix, absolutely.
      I do the same thing actually.
      If there’s a day I’m not feeling it,
      I’ll force it for a bit and go through the motions.
      You will get some results out of that too btw,
      But after that, I watch anime, RUclips, or just relax.
      Again, the curve is natural, and forcing it does more harm than good.
      You’ll eventually get the spark to work hard again once you maybe address some other things that are occupying your mind.
      Or just after a break. 👌
      It’s gotten me VERY far in the long runx

      INTJ actually. But I have developed a lot more empathy over the years, as I used to have none.

    I’ve heard of the hustler approach, and now we know what the middle ground is, but can I ask what the lazy approach is?

      Lol The Lazy Approach is called wishful thinking.
      And most of us do this on accident anyways until we snap out of it. At least I do 😂

      There’s plenty but I can’t remember the one I used to use.
      Basically one that doesn’t have random goofy ads that pop up after a google search Lol

    Thank you for this helpful guide! Something I’d like to highlight (cause I do this a lot myself) is not comparing yourself to others and assuming that other people are more productive/consistent/better at life than you. Don’t worry about what other people are doing and just be better than your past self. Be disciplined, but also kind to yourself❤️‍🩹

      @vaughngene  5 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely! I mention it here and there in vids, but I think a standalone video on that would be good to do.
      Since it’s quite common (and easy to do on accident with social media).
