The position you show at 5:16 is the key for me, my transition has always finished at the "squat" position you show at 5:02. Per John Wooden, I slowed the metronome down to 90, hit more solid irons in one round than ever on day 1 of incorporating this change.
Steve, 3d GEARS has shown that yes the hips are nice and open at impact, there is a difference up top however. The actual rib cage is open as well, but most great players are square to just slightly open with the shoulders at impact. The rib cage can be moved independently of the shoulders. It's the right side bend into that gives the shoulders the look of being way open into impact. Great video thanks
Excellent!! I used this transition to to nail my chipping, moving my body mass from right to left and stepping down with my left heel to propel the chest, arms, and hands through impact. No more sticking the club in the sod. Effortless and simply brilliant. The Austin grip is the key to a clean strike. Many, many thanks, Steve.
Steve, thanks for the excellent video. Did you mention the rotator cuff by mistake when talking about spinning the pizza box? You correctly say “spinning the forearm” later on. The rotator cuff moves the upper arm (humerus). The rotator cuff is involved in the external rotation of the upper arm(shallowing), that goes along with spinning the pizza box. The forearm spins the pizza box. Thanks for emphasizing that the chest be allowed to open with the step down and butt return. The associated opening of the leading hip protects it from injury in the powerful follow through.
OK...this is my new swing now...it's so athletically driven (if that makes any sense). I cannot hold in my head all of the techniques that some teachers want you to hold without completely tightening up and hitting the ball all over the course...but I know how to step and throw...been doing that my entire athletic career. I'm flying the ball roughly 250-260 and getting a 30 yard roll out. Not pro distance, but better distance than I'd been getting and certainly straighter. Step and throw also makes it so much easier to keep your head back...I've had a chronic issue of throwing my right shoulder over the top and hitting a weak 220 high chopper into the trees on the right...then overcompensating and hitting a duck hook by not getting off of my back foot...step and throw seems to eliminate these 2 errors. Psyched to groove this and enjoy the game more!
Just started following you seen a couple of videos I have a problem if taking too big a divot in front of the ball when I try out the demonstration in this video .
Mike - thanks for the video lessons - really enjoying. I am having trouble "seeing" your flop of the wrists through the impact zone. Are you actually flopping or is it just an intent .
steve, do you feel or use the left side to wind up and then use the left side glute and lat to pull through the shot? i've been kinda using that idea because i'm left handed but golf right and more left side dominant in most things and like everybody trying to be more consistent with decent distance. thnx for your videos.
The pizza box was interesting and hadn't seen that. Are you saying you almost feel like you force more cocking of the wrist as you get to the top by rotating "the pizza box" or maybe a feeling of loading the wrists to ready the throw as you move into the pivot? Does that make sense? Similar idea as shifting weight to your almost fully into your right foot makes it easier or more explosive to move your weight fully to your left foot.
Nice demo Steve. Can you please comment on with your right grip being more stronger, more underneath like you would hold an hammer. A lot of coaches are advising that it helps to keep the club head squarely to the arc. What are your thoughts Steve? Cheers
Any idea/video about fixing being ball bound/the hit impulse? My max speed practice swings are great (no open CF), even my range swings are now good, but on the course, top of BS and transition show the same old flaws as before/always!

Love you bro... I'm looking this so many years and now I realize what's transition mean....ty sir....🤝👍🍾
three golden rules in transition! thx for sharing!
Great drills as I used today and never hit the ball so well.Love the concept of your teaching. The best release yet.
Rick
Great to hear! Cheers Rick!
Excellent lesson. You cleared a lot of questions about he backswing and the full swing in this while explaining the transition. Thanks!
Cheers Kall!

Yes because the left scapula is still in an abducted position in a good golfer. Thanks for watching and your great comments!

Terrific!
Great lesson! I thought the upline/front view showed the hip action through impact really well. Thanks!
That angle really reveals a lot!
My first view ...great instruction I subscribed can’t wait to see more and try the butt drill coupled with the step down.
Keep us updated Jim!
gonna try the step and throw tonight...
Good explanation of how hips migrate from top of backswing down into the hitting zone

I think your video was excellent I hope to view more of your videos in the future thanks
More to come!
Great video Steve!
Glad you enjoyed it
Very nice lesson... thanks
Glad you liked it!

I love it! Very simple!

The first thing I would check is if you're too steep and outside in coming down.
The best!

No I'm actually doing it. Some camera angles are better than others to see it.
Great vid! How much pressure on the grip between 1-10? Thanks!

I'm working on that as it evolved too strong to counter my fear of blocking right.
I liked the early part of the transition, but about lag in the down swing?
3:30 , 4:35, 6:19
Good info. Please match up transition/swoosh sound with general sound volume, as it’s horrible when listening on headphones.
Good idea...you mean the sound effect? Is it too loud?
Any idea/video about fixing being ball bound/the hit impulse?

Time and repetition. :) Especially with a driver.
What part should you focus on if you're starting to get a snap Hook?
Gotta keep the butt back while you post up and turn.
Several mysteries revealed.
I cant seem to get left, maybe one out 10.
The pizza box is a little confusing, show this with a club.
