- J.J. McCarthy posted the third-highest adjusted completion percentage in the nation (80%) in 2023. McCarthy's throw air time below an expectation also ranked first in the class (-0.13). This is determined by throw distance and the quarterback's footwork when throwing. Per Sports Info Solutions a lower number is better, because in that case throws of the same distance are taking less time to get to the target.
McCarthy has been a late-process riser, elevating his stock from a late-Day 1/early-Day 2 QB to a top-10 hopeful. While many anticipate he could be a trade-up target for a team like the Minnesota Vikings, the reigning CFP National Championship QB seems to be a potential favorite to go No. 2, according to league circles. The Commanders traded away QB Sam Howell and signed Marcus Mariota.

You can never “overpay” if you have conviction on a possible franchise QB. I don’t care if they don’t work out in the end, Chicago made a “good” decision trading up for Mitch Trubisky even if it was a bad decision if that makes sense. JJ is a dog though and I’m extremely confident in him!
No risk No reward! Nothing in the past won a SB so why not take a shot on this kid. Obviously KO’C likes JJ’s fit with our team. And Dallas is a beast! I would like to see us pick up a CB with our 23rd pick. SKOL
