stop getting ripped off hold all your copper untill the price go up if we all hold are copper they have no choose to go up STOP getting ripped off i use to work for a yard!!!!
No you shouldnt lmao no one is getting ripped off the are a business which needs to turn a profit the obbiously wont pay full price also holding on to it will make the value drop more
Keep up the good work kid. I used to do scrapping long time ago but with my job right now I don't have time. Scrapping is a good way to make money on the side.
well got to have enough to make it worth your trip yes agree never hard but i like to save then turn in a few good loads of aluminum and copper when i can get a little more for it
one Saturday morning 4yrs.ago I was at the scrap yard about ready to weigh when this guy comes in a quarter ton ford loaded down,I mean front seat included tires almost flat loaded with short iron that he and his son found in their back woods,I waved him ahead,I wanted to know.nice Saturday for him,3670 pounds.steel was a little low at that point but he got almost 400 dollars for it.
Good job cleaning, and everyone should keep in mind that it is better for everyone to keep the groups of scrap sorted and separated. It is definitely not worth taking the copper tubes out of aluminum fins, but it is always worth separating the steel from copper or brass or aluminum. Definitely worth separating copper bits away from the copper bits that have paint or lead solder or brazing.
I suppose the old cast iron gas pipes I took could be considered stealing. I saw it more of cleaning up junk in the woods. If I didn't take them to the scrap yard I would have thrown them in the trash instead because I saw them as littering up the woods. I drag a lot of junk scrap metal out of the woods to make the woods nicer.
+Keystone Science haha smt stuff, small resistors, and small transistors just aren't worth it. I still keep lots of boards around for that time I need that one component. But I can't full my parents house up lol
I've actually sold like 5 pound boxes of mixed electrolytic capacitors i salvaged from stuff on ebay for like $15 but it took me a while to collect it all.
you know i think you could have made alot more for all your scrap, if you go to the right place that is, the chips alone are worth a bit cause theres gold in it
hmmm, based on all the copper and things I would have expected more. Don't know how the prices in the Netherlands are related to the USA. Going to the scrapyard is always cool. One time I had 200 pounds of dead blood pressure meters. Just plastic, a circuit board and a little airpump in that. They even gave a nice price for that, even if it was mostly plastic. Last time I went I had some old computers etc. from my summerjob. It's amazing how much you get for old computers! So much compared to normal steel! What I learned here is that if you want to bring a big pile of on sort of scrap, like we did one time when we tore down an aluminium greenhouse, is to call before you go there. That time we got a few hundreds of pounds of aluminium. If you call before they will give you a higher price, so you don't go to another scrapyard. Then when you get there they can't give you less. Not all scrapyards are that fair, you can't really check if you got a good price.
Triangle_DIY i am dutch to jeah call first or check there web site i always do i know where i can get the best price a friend of my is metal scrapper he picked up metal some times before at my place little lower price but still service i got no car thats makes if worth it
I often wonder why US folk use these pick up trucks for scrap? Here in UK, it's all large panel vans and dropside trucks. Do you get extra hassle if you drive something big like that over there?
+john houston To be fair, it's only recently, with Romanian immigrants, that we've been seeing lots of large panel vans at it. Traditionally, scrappers ('rag-and-bone-men') have used drop side trucks for years. Favourite seems to be the Iveco Daily truck, although Ford Transit and LDV Convoy LWB are seen a lot. No one uses a normal pick up as they are just too small. Might as well have horse and cart, which I can remember in the sixties.
Pickup trucks are daily drivers from many people. It's the vehicle a regular person owns and has ands can be used for many things like taking loads to the scrap yard. Do we have large trucks? You bet we do, however, unless you are a business that is making good money they cost more to buy, register, insure and drive so smaller trucks are a cheaper more efficient option that gives you more versatility.
That's a good answer that make sense. Over here, you wouldn't use a pick up as you'd never get enough material to make a profit. Our fuel prices are about double the US rate for a start. And scrap metal collecting literally triples the insurance premium, so a proper commercial vehicle is the only way to go. Get caught with the wrong insurance and you can easily end up with your truck seized and weighed in as scrap itself.
freeganjustin Sorry to hear about the anti-business climate you live in. I thought it was bad here in the U.S. We are lucky to have lower gas prices which makes picking and scraping more cost effective. Many people do it on the side to supplement their incomes so do it full time either way its not easy to make huge amounts of money because of the competition. It's tough to find big loads much scrap it picked up piece by piece over time and saved up but every now and then you might get a good load. I see guy use trailers along with their truck for larger load. So you do see people with a full size truck filled with metal and towing a 8-24 ft trailer filled at time too. Trailers are pretty common to be used when you need more room. They cost less to register and can be found for fairly cheap used depending on the size. This allows people a place to collect and store the scrap safely and effectively.
I mean this very sincerely. if you have any boards or batteries that they don't take or just them in general. I would be more than glad to take them. I would not throw them away so don't worry about the waste
I would not collect scrap for what little it's worth. I scrapped aluminum, brass and copper the other day. $32. I'm an industrial mechanic and this was stuff I've come by incidentally. Hardly worth the time and effort to take it to the scrap yard.
You have a super channel , i too scrapping old electronics, for non-ferrous metals with final weighting ,you may look :D you got a new subscriber !! good job bro
damn i live four miles from north Dakota and they pay ten cent a pound for low grade boards and that's after a guy cleans them up a lot. i don't even want to get started on every thing else
i save all ic chips, mlccs, tantalums, cpu's, north south chips, gold pins and fingers off pcbs, ram and motherboards then refine them once a year this way i have bucket loads making it more cost effective some acids can be reused
Yo bro, they robbed the shit out of you. I would never ever, ever, ever, ever go back to them again!!!! You should have walked out of there with at lease $250 I've never heard of a copper mix before?? #1 or #2 that's it no in between. Next time ask question among your fellow scrappers. If that yard prices is'nt right, go to another one. In philly #2 copper is $2.65 a pound and #1 is $2.85
you may be able to get a better price for mother boards and ram on ebay not sure though. also great video. i am hopping to come out and visit the pittsburgh hackerspace some day. i haven't had any luck finding any hackerspace or maker spaces in my area so i'm thinking about turning my shed into a wood / building shop. anyways like i said great video keep up the good work.
+copper101great Yeah true. It's not really worth my time for a couple extra cents. Yeah you should totally come down to Hack Pittsburgh sometime! I'd love to meet you!
.....I know this is to late but that heavy iron 3 years ago should have been more than .10 cents a lb and you where given .05 cents a lb they gave you tin shred price..... .....Never let the yard dictate that they will split the load take it back and do it yourself many people think that if you a desperate they can pay you any price they want and the yards will sometimes give their employees bonuses for nefarious payouts.....
Great video. I like to watch this kind of video while stripping my cable. Ive so far got about 80lbs if bright wire so I'm gonna upload a video about that tomorrow maybe or Friday. I saw a msg from you on another channel so I thought I'd check your videos out. Yeah very Good. Keep making the videos. Liked and subbed.
should find a whatto take the gold out of the boards and make a bar out of it that would have been smarter cuss gold is a pricious metal and worth more then just scarp
I need to have scrappers stay away from my display tables for my yard sale (not trash day). I was looking for screws one day to screw the table top back onto the metal stand, and some metal scrapper took my stand! What an idiot! How am I to display my other items that I am giving away? I can't place them on the ground, they are not trash!, and the street is right there. The items would get extremely dirty. When in doubt ask, because I will call the police for theft.
you should sell the ram sticks on ebay or somthing like that they wil get you a lot of mony ddr and ddr2 ram are not made annymore so they are becomming rare
You should find a place where the prices are higher, because coppers are way worth it to make bullet out of them. You, should have thousand out of that much copper.
scrapping is for people who claim some sort of money assistance. $147 for a probably 10 hours worth of work is not very good. I have scrapped a good bit back int he day just from jobs i worked at at the end of the day and after a few trips, even melting down copper and the aluminum, it was still not worth my time. its only worth it to get rid of materials and waste because it brakes even and does not cost money to throw away. Cheers to anyone taking a proffit from scrapping but its just a waste of time if your doing it for the income.
Pittsburgh!!!!!!💪🤟🙋♂️...hey neighbor
stop getting ripped off hold all your copper untill the price go up if we all hold are copper they have no choose to go up STOP getting ripped off i use to work for a yard!!!!
True
You should check out local thrift shops for cheap Metal! Like brass faucets and door knobs.
No you shouldnt lmao no one is getting ripped off the are a business which needs to turn a profit the obbiously wont pay full price also holding on to it will make the value drop more
Not true just like in winter it goes up if you hold on to copper it will go up
Keep up the good work kid. I used to do scrapping long time ago but with my job right now I don't have time. Scrapping is a good way to make money on the side.
2:40 it's way worth seperating the aluminum from the copper. melt the aluminum into ingots and the price is very high.
I'm glad your a responsible human being that gets rid of hazardous stuff the right way.
Nice Haul! Scrap as you go, make your money and move on to the next load. Never Hoard! Take Care!
well got to have enough to make it worth your trip yes agree never hard but i like to save then turn in a few good loads of aluminum and copper when i can get a little more for it
He scraped in some U-tubes on youtube... kinda meta huh?
found out at the end you are a young guy congrats man you will get ahead in life
one Saturday morning 4yrs.ago I was at the scrap yard about ready to weigh when this guy comes in a quarter ton ford loaded down,I mean front seat included tires almost flat loaded with short iron that he and his son found in their back woods,I waved him ahead,I wanted to know.nice Saturday for him,3670 pounds.steel was a little low at that point but he got almost 400 dollars for it.
brass is 1 dollar to 150 a pound.
hey, spend the money on a metal detector and go into the woods and find more scrap metal to sell. lol......
That is an awesome video exactly what I needed to see
In my old age now, this looks hella fun bro.
2:04 golf club???
Good job cleaning, and everyone should keep in mind that it is better for everyone to keep the groups of scrap sorted and separated. Dude it’s your scrap, you spent the time collecting and processing it and you can sell it whenever you choose. Nice video and nice truck too 👌
that "copper" wire that was silver on the inside was copper coated aluminum
Good video thanks for sharing, I'm thinking of trying it myself sometime.
Not a bad haul for a pickup load of scrap great job.
nice load! but technicly them pipes you found and you grabbed is stealing! is there no type of restrictions where you are?
I suppose the old cast iron gas pipes I took could be considered stealing. I saw it more of cleaning up junk in the woods. If I didn't take them to the scrap yard I would have thrown them in the trash instead because I saw them as littering up the woods. I drag a lot of junk scrap metal out of the woods to make the woods nicer.
hell yeah!
+Makerj101 You've got to draw the line some where bud, its not stealing if no body wants it, especially if they were abandoned in the woods.
Good haul!!
you missed the silver from the silver contacts on some of the boards
put some money aside for a clay graphite crucible
Hello Scott,s Recycling here all the way from Victoria Australia and i sub to you...
Nice! I would love to do something with you one day. I collect elements of the Periodic table, too!
Oh noo not the circuit boards ! You should salvage parts off of them to make things :D
+Keystone Science oh I wouldn't throw good stuff away! I already took everything I thought was useful off them.
+Makerj101 oh ok xD that's good, a little part of me almost died haha
+Keystone Science haha smt stuff, small resistors, and small transistors just aren't worth it. I still keep lots of boards around for that time I need that one component. But I can't full my parents house up lol
I've actually sold like 5 pound boxes of mixed electrolytic capacitors i salvaged from stuff on ebay for like $15 but it took me a while to collect it all.
My next door neighbor has been scraping whole bunch of bicycles, old water heaters, refrigerators and more.
Looks like you had some decent stuff there.. Keep making that money.
I work in a yard and we make twice as much $$ off the stuff and here in quebec canada the computer are worth 5cent a lbs and tv's the same
so I have some green and red copper. is there anymore worth I these?
U got ripped big time!!!!
147 for all that. next time call before you go and pree weigh your stuff. mostly just copper not the magnetic stuff.
you know i think you could have made alot more for all your scrap, if you go to the right place that is, the chips alone are worth a bit cause theres gold in it

+Arya Javaheri Yeah, maybe I can try a next time, but this was on the company time, so just drop it off and get back :)
Triangle_DIY i am dutch to

I just went to aaa scrap today. I got a pretty good price.
I often wonder why US folk use these pick up trucks for scrap? Here in UK, it's all large panel vans and dropside trucks. Do you get extra hassle if you drive something big like that over there?
Depends where you live, mainly truck for ease of loading and unloading, can use a van in any state because it's closed from anything falling out.
+john houston To be fair, it's only recently, with Romanian immigrants, that we've been seeing lots of large panel vans at it. Yeah, for someone who has a good job it's nothing. Poor college student who does RUclips for a job it's actually pretty decent.
You should flip this $ and buy 1lbs. copper bars approx $9. Would that net a gain?
looks like you still had brass in the steel pipes in the back big pipe wrench works good...
Bruh don't throw away those circuit boards! You can make so many cool things out of it.
like what?
nice load. I am from Scranton PA. about 5 hours from you
Do they give you $.10 a pound for the Scrap computer board
Awesome video. I'm in Harrisburg, we have two yards here local.
You didn't dilute the computer parts for the gold within? Lame.
+Vydonis I did cut the gold pins off the ram. I felt like anything more was a waste of my time.
Well there would be way more inside the chips themselves (bonding wires) than that is on those pcb contacts.
Vydonis have you guys looked at gold videos? Waaaay to much use of acid, time etc to get gold worth like 20$
i save all ic chips, mlccs, tantalums, cpu's, north south chips, gold pins and fingers off pcbs, ram and motherboards then refine them once a year this way i have bucket loads making it more cost effective some acids can be reused
I'm guessing because he has a real job.
You might want buy some buckets they come in handy
Is it ok to turn it into ingots and then turn it in?
+Parker Evans sure. But it's a lot of work and they will pay you about the same amount. Maybe slightly more.
we need to hold on to all are copper not sell it until they paid what its worth the scrap yards are riping us off
+Anthony Briglia ya I know. I just don't have room in my parents garage so I kinda don't have a choice.
Another Pittsburgh Scrapper! what's up brother
hold all your copper stop getting ripped of hold it
Good vid guy 👍
Thanks for posting this
because low grade broad can be sold to other yards maybe not much, true,or at least sell it for steel weight.
+Susan Daniels Yeah that's possible. But they are worth so little so I'm not really going to drive extra far to get like $5 more.
anyone in the US or Canada who wants to earn more money for the ewaste, pls pm me.
Good work busy man
I can't belive you recycled the furnace burner!
+A. Zak LOL yeah
Great video.

this video was posted in 2015 prices are different now. Where you live also makes a big difference.
Chasity Davis I go to 84th and Hook road and that's what they pay!
Chasity Davis over here in Ireland it's call mix copper but we get 4,80 a kilo but yet yards are taken the piss if you let them
What state do you live in because I live near pitsburge
+Tin 4705 Pittsburgh PA
+Makerj101 What yard do you usually go to? if you don't mind me asking.
They take the circetboards because if you have the right chemicals you can get the gold from the middle but you'll need a lot of them
Hello guy did a good job. Come in for a visit!!!
Good on ya 😊
careful what you scrap, you might regret it one day! i know i do lol
+ironlionkalo LOL I do all the time!!! :P
i hear ya man :(
Why?
$147 there was a lot of gold on the boards. They fucked you over.
you're dealing with the wrong yard.
+Susan Daniels Why do you say that?
You want scrap
@@makerj101 My guess, is that he meant to ask you to take it to another scrap yard
Kid your going to move mountains someday

I make most of my money on the shred steel
we need a union
..🦊...not bad however the copper wire can be stripped,..with an old steak knife 🔪,....🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
steel and iron is worth it cuz it helps pay for the gas to get stuff.
Find a new scrap yard. use the one your yard sells to. See if CMC recycling is in your area.
My Scrap Yard won’t buy motherboards at all
you should sell the ram sticks on ebay or somthing like that they wil get you a lot of mony ddr and ddr2 ram are not made annymore so they are becomming rare
You should find a place where the prices are higher, because coppers are way worth it to make bullet out of them. You, should have thousand out of that much copper.
they didn't put the price down that's bad kid.
what is copper priced there? in my country scrap copper is 1.20€/kg
first quality is around 4.30€
second quality 3.5 i believe

Did you claim this money on your taxes?
i wish there was a union
Wow you got robbed
