If you just move hotspot's hips back one click, he stands perfectly straight. My -only- problem with this guy is the loose peg on hotspot's right side that holds his leg in place for defensor mode. I just doesn't hold (from what I've read, this is a common problem). Other than that, he's amazing. I love hot spot and all the protectobots as individual bots too. Thanks for the review!
im really digging hotspot's transformation into combined mode, its pretty sick. mine is in the mail and ill have it in about a week or so along with my combaticons. cant wait to get my hands on them, the only thing that sucks is mine didnt come with rook, only hotspot, blades, groove, first aid,and streetwise.
Meh, now that Rook replaced Groove and didn't make a deluxe sized Groove, I don't think I want the Protectobots anymore... I don't know why but Groove was always my favorite, and without him for a leg, I don't think I want this figure. I'm also heavily disappointed with Blades being yet another repaint of Alpha Bravo. I'm thinking of getting the Arielbots instead :/
I got a Hot Spot, still waiting to pick up the other bots, and I ran into a weird QC issue. The right leg wouldn't ratchet out from the hip. I opened the hip up and there was a screw stuck in there preventing it from moving... O.o And to add odd insult to small injury, the combiner port piece in his leg will collapse and pop out/back when trying to place a leg in with very little force applied. First QC issues I've had in a while, but man what issues. Still love the figure.
i have my own configuration for defensor i'll use blast off and moonracer as the arms and smokescreen and i think i still have streetwise as the legs and legends shockwave as the weapon for him
So with Hot spot guns when in this mode can the weapon hold really good in the hands? If so you could use both weapons in the same hand 1 on top and 1 upside down but that is only if it fits unless you use some take or something to help the bottom to stay in under neath it. I would think that would give a nice little flavor to it other than what he has. Still a keeper either way.
Right? I love his reviews but how did he miss the peg?! And there's MANY pictures and reviews online that show it properly not to mention it also shows it in the instructions.
@ballmatrix I had the same problem with the weird hip joint but I found out its because of the chest plate. You have to position the chest plate such that it's parallel with body, and then bend the ladder and that the back ladder is parallel too.
The comments about the "official" configuration and then the cartoon configuration just got me to wondering; I tend to favor what is (in real life) the most stable configuration or what looks like it would be in the fiction. Sometimes that matches up with the show presentation, sometimes it doesn't. In this case, that would mean Rook and First-Aid as legs with Streetwise and Blades (or with the original five, Blades and Groove) as the arms. I don't have this figure (love to get it but... not an option =/) so the only way I'll find out is if someone else tries it and tells me. ;)
Impossible Pie That's why I tightened up the hip and knee joints on all my limb bots and leave their legs fully extended for combined mode. Some look and work better than others as fully extended legs though. But that's fine as I have no preconceived image as to who goes where as it's Scramble City and it doesn't matter where they go. I just put them wherever they look and work best. To me, it really makes Superion look more proportioned. Menasor and Ultra Prime (and Optimus Maximus by default) however, still look a little weird. I don't know how it would look on Defensor though as I don't have Hot Spot yet, or any of them for that matter. It also makes them taller which is always a plus.
I'm guessing how white Groove is also contributes to that goofy look, and therefore, Groove should be a bit more silvery. As well as maybe the front of the bike mode being up, and therefore should be flipped down with the chest piece still in its position instead of being flipped up.
You know spada? I've always wondered. Why do you always say "What I like to do" when most of the time its already in the directions? are you simply expressing your enjoyment in that particular step in the conversion?
I'm having trouble connecting the legs to hot spot's thighs. There are these two black squares in the ports for the legs and they seem to be hindering them from locking in. I can see some springs attached to them. Is there a way to get them to work properly or is it simply broken. I hope it's not broken.
This configuration wouldn't have worked in G1 because First aid was a puss for a while and didn't want to fight or become Defensor. With out an arm they can still form but without a leg they are screwed.
He has capabilities to fight. He's a pacifist. He hates war. In the only time in the G1 cartoons where he actually fought was in The Headmasters, where he was seen giving a mighty kick to, erm, Tracks' face.
New Figures for Wave 4 Including: Mirage- Re-Paint/New Head of Dragstrip Ironhide- Re-Paint/New Head of Offroad Prowl- Re-Paint/New Head of Stretwise (confirmed) Sunstreaker- Re-Paint/New Head of Break Down Optimus Maximus- Re-Paint/New Head of Optimus Prime (Sporting G1 Ion Cannon) Re-Painted Motormaster Titan Class Devastator
+Melvin Ray Spence III Well becasue him being a motorcycle he would be to small to form a leg. In the g1 cartoon he grew to form the leg but you cant do that with a toy
I'm still not keen on this practice of introducing replacement team members. Imagine if they got rid of michalengelo from the turtles and introduced a yellow bandana turtle.
This is hands down my favorite set at the moment. I'm in agreement as the Autobot combiners have been better looking thus far.
I thoroughly enjoyed this review from start to finish. I am getting Defensor in a couple of weeks and will watch this video again when I combine him.
Wow, had no idea the torso transformation would be so interesting.
Admittingly, waiting to combine these guys until you get them all is better than what you did with some of your earlier vids.
Quantum Surge you are right
This is one of the few Transformers where I actually prefer the Hasbro version over the Takara version. Thanks for the review!
"Somebody murdered and hacked up a motorcycle, and decided to put it on a giant robot" - Baltmatrix (2015)
I can not wait for the Devastator videos.

The protectobots are my favorite autobot combiner team
im really digging hotspot's transformation into combined mode, its pretty sick. mine is in the mail and ill have it in about a week or so along with my combaticons. cant wait to get my hands on them, the only thing that sucks is mine didnt come with rook, only hotspot, blades, groove, first aid,and streetwise.

dude just be happy we got groove better then blackjack
he's right blackjack is CARP
if you click the hips one back, and use the play in the ratchet joint you can get him standing straight up. just a tip!

For this video I'd love if you did a review on robot modes for Defensor
i have my own configuration for defensor i'll use blast off and moonracer as the arms and smokescreen and i think i still have streetwise as the legs and legends shockwave as the weapon for him
In the G1 Transformers Firstaid is the left arm of Defensor. I never heard of Rook (Rookie) in the show
the right arm i got is not the Swat vehicle, it's a Police Motorcycle
So with Hot spot guns when in this mode can the weapon hold really good in the hands? If so you could use both weapons in the same hand 1 on top and 1 upside down but that is only if it fits unless you use some take or something to help the bottom to stay in under neath it. No wonder you had a hard time putting Groove on. You did it upside-down ;P.
Right? I love his reviews but how did he miss the peg?! And there's MANY pictures and reviews online that show it properly not to mention it also shows it in the instructions.
And Balt isn't the only one reviewer that did this. The worst thing is that he might just discouraged a whole lot of people to buy Groove.
Highbrow98 I
Seriously, how did he not see the peg?
Wait i also didn’t see it, I tried but it didn’t work.
@ballmatrix I had the same problem with the weird hip joint but I found out its because of the chest plate. You have to position the chest plate such that it's parallel with body, and then bend the ladder and that the back ladder is parallel too.
+iliekduhpie @baltmatrix i just got hot spot and if you leave the red panel up it fixes the hip problem
would like a rachit made form first aid

Otaku á
my only issue with every combiner is the arms are longer than the legs! especially Menasor!
Impossible Pie That's why I tightened up the hip and knee joints on all my limb bots and leave their legs fully extended for combined mode. The problem with my hot spot is his left foots combiner port is broken but still usable
Where do you keep all your transformers figures ? You should have got so many of them.
I'm guessing how white Groove is also contributes to that goofy look, and therefore, Groove should be a bit more silvery. As well as maybe the front of the bike mode being up, and therefore should be flipped down with the chest piece still in its position instead of being flipped up.
He put Groove on upside down
You know spada? I've always wondered. Why do you always say "What I like to do" when most of the time its already in the directions? are you simply expressing your enjoyment in that particular step in the conversion?
for the one leg flip up his car hood and wedge the windshield under it so it fills in way better. give it a shot :)
also ur grooves upside down. flip him and he pegs in better
I turned my groove upside down and it seems to work a lot better

mattbart08 is it fixed now?
Hello Do you have combiner wars upgradekit. That sounds good
60 FPS is strange but I think I just need to get used to it.
This configuration wouldn't have worked in G1 because First aid was a puss for a while and didn't want to fight or become Defensor. With out an arm they can still form but without a leg they are screwed.

I have same hunch, that Hasbro will release Deluxe Class Groove.
Defensor is my favorite Autobot Combiner.
Your videos bring so much joy into my life......when I'm taking a giant dump.
Hey where can I buy the hand and leg robot
There's also going to be a combiner wars skylynx.
well done
When i look on the website i Cannot seem to even find The Whole Set on there. Do i have ti buy it separately or?
The figures are sold separately unless you get the takara unite warriors version
New Figures for Wave 4 Including:
Mirage- Re-Paint/New Head of Dragstrip
Ironhide- Re-Paint/New Head of Offroad
Prowl- Re-Paint/New Head of Stretwise (confirmed)
Sunstreaker- Re-Paint/New Head of Break Down
Optimus Maximus- Re-Paint/New Head of Optimus Prime (Sporting G1 Ion Cannon)
Re-Painted Motormaster
Titan Class Devastator
I bought a CYCLONUS Combiner Wars last Christmas 2015. :-D
Hot spot is so cool. To transform hot spot he kind of doing an upside down torso
You can also put hot spots guns to defensors chest
when is groove going to be out for buy?
Did u know that the arms and legs are interchangeable at least on my menasor they are.
My Bruticus has the same leaning forward issue.
I decided to get the big Groove instead 8f the small one, like G1 people.
Looks like Groove was on upside down
What is the brand?
And I can't find any of the feets and arms. Only got hotspot
I went in a shop and found all of them except hotspot :(
+capz I saw all of them at Wal*Mart last week, but didn't buy them.
+capz I found streetwise at a walmart and ordered first aid on amozon for like 13 dollars
capz I only have hot spot too jaja
Wonder how many hours the designers spent on the details.
I wonder why they use Rook amd made Groove separate?
+Melvin Ray Spence III Well becasue him being a motorcycle he would be to small to form a leg. In the g1 cartoon he grew to form the leg but you cant do that with a toy
OK, deluxe room was made before groove and his purpose was to make more money.
My favorite combiner
Hey anyone else noticed that the name of the video is "Defenor" review?
I know that the chest piece looks horrible but i just can't help myself but defensor does look good
Online only release for Groove 11 months later. Hasbro knows what they are doing.
My favourite combiner have them on display
Should I get defensor or Bruticus for 55$ from amazon?
i got both for $55 on amazon.
I actually want to buy 4 streetwise cus i love his mold the best and get one hotspot and merge all together XD HERE COME STREETSORE
Did Baltmatrix just say that Hasbro is definitely going to be releasing a deluxe class Groove?
Looks like youre having "trouble" transforming hot spot into his combined mode huh...
Wat about thyr robot mods
i serously hope they give us a new motormaster soon
I'm pretty sure ROOK and Streetwise are the legs.
I wanna see a leader class helicopter
I'm still not keen on this practice of introducing replacement team members. Imagine if they got rid of michalengelo from the turtles and introduced a yellow bandana turtle.
its not just your hot spot who does that cause mine does
I don’t add the little grove on mine
If you don't know a combiner wars bruticus has been announced.
And also buy slingshot for superion
you've forgotten to flip out the fingers on Rook
Hotspot’s combiner mode is very similar to onslaught
It's because it's the same figure just retooling
My favourite team
If your doing a giveaway I want it
tuning fork
I really want defencor in earth wars
He came out already
I have this set but China version
They really need Defensor in Transformers earth wars
would you recommend hot spot or silverbolt
His "chest plate" you mean
Me: jealous
me later: orders defensor from amazon my mom tells me its a knockoff me its not a knockoff to me
defensor is very cool I want hin
What the hq man you for getting groove
I have the hip thing on mind
my version of Defensor is abit different.
there is something wrong with the video, it's choppy.
Nope, that's just spada's editing.
Cool. Better than menasaur
I Like this!
That 60 fps goodness
Anyone else having issues with fuzziness?
Buy combiner wars groove
if you like defensor you will like Bruticus
Defesor is toy 2016
Michel is cool
IMO legends Groove looks like Defensor's bra. I think Menasor and Defensor should go "topless". It suits them better.
i have all the protectobots
Anyone else gonna get this combiner
First aid should be the arm not leg
wow
