Wow, had no idea the torso transformation would be so interesting.
This is hands down my favorite set at the moment. I'm in agreement as the Autobot combiners have been better looking thus far.
Admittingly, waiting to combine these guys until you get them all is better than what you did with some of your earlier vids.

I thoroughly enjoyed this review from start to finish. I am getting Defensor in a couple of weeks and will watch this video again when I combine him.
If you just move hotspot's hips back one click, he stands perfectly straight. My -only- problem with this guy is the loose peg on hotspot's right side that holds his leg in place for defensor mode. I just doesn't hold (from what I've read, this is a common problem). Other than that, he's amazing. I love hot spot and all the protectobots as individual bots too. Thanks for the review!
This is one of the few Transformers where I actually prefer the Hasbro version over the Takara version. Thanks for the review!

im really digging hotspot's transformation into combined mode,its pretty sick. mine is in the mail and ill have it in about a week or so along with my combaticons. cant wait to get my hands on them,the only thing that sucks is mine didnt come with rook,only hotspot,blades,groove,first aid,and streetwise.
if you click the hips one back, and use the play in the ratchet joint you can get him standing straight up. just a tip!

I got a Hot Spot, still waiting to pick up the other bots, and I ran into a weird QC issue. The right leg wouldn't ratchet out from the hip. I opened the hip up and there was a screw stuck in there preventing it from moving... O.o And to add odd insult to small injury, the combiner port piece in his leg will collapse and pop out/back when trying to place a leg in with very little force applied. First QC issues I've had in a while, but man what issues. Still love the figure.
i have my own configuration for defensor i'll use blast off and moonracer as the arms and smokescreen and i think i still have streetwise as the legs and legends shockwave as the weapon for him
For this video I'd love if you did a review on robot modes for Defensor
@ballmatrix I had the same problem with the weird hip joint but I found out its because of the chest plate. You have to position the chest plate such that it's parallel with body, and then bend the ladder and that the back ladder is parallel too.

the right arm i got is not the Swat vehicle, it's a Police Motorcycle
So with Hot spot guns when in this mode can the weapon hold really good in the hands? If so you could use both weapons in the same hand 1 on top and 1 upside down but that is only if it fits unless you use some take or something to help the bottom to stay in under neath it. I would think that would give a nice little flavor to it other than what he has. Still a keeper either way.
In the G1 Transformers Firstaid is the left arm of Defensor. I never heard of Rook (Rookie) in the show

The problem with my hot spot is his left foots combiner port is broken but still usable
The comments about the "official" configuration and then the cartoon configuration just got me to wondering; I tend to favor what is (in real life) the most stable configuration or what looks like it would be in the fiction. Sometimes that matches up with the show presentation, sometimes it doesn't. In this case, that would mean Rook and First-Aid as legs with Streetwise and Blades (or with the original five, Blades and Groove) as the arms. I don't have this figure (love to get it but... not an option =/) so the only way I'll find out is if someone else tries it and tells me. ;)

No wonder you had a hard time putting Groove on. You did it upside-down ;P.
Right? I love his reviews but how did he miss the peg?! And there's MANY pictures and reviews online that show it properly not to mention it also shows it in the instructions.
And Balt isn't the only one reviewer that did this. The worst thing is that he might just discouraged a whole lot of people to buy Groove.

I'm guessing how white Groove is also contributes to that goofy look, and therefore, Groove should be a bit more silvery. As well as maybe the front of the bike mode being up, and therefore should be flipped down with the chest piece still in its position instead of being flipped up.

Defensor is my favorite Autobot Combiner.
my only issue with every combiner is the arms are longer than the legs! especially Menasor!
Impossible Pie That's why I tightened up the hip and knee joints on all my limb bots and leave their legs fully extended for combined mode. Some look and work better than others as fully extended legs though. But that's fine as I have no preconceived image as to who goes where as it's Scramble City and it doesn't matter where they go. I just put them wherever they look and work best.
To me, it really makes Superion look more proportioned. Menasor and Ultra Prime (and Optimus Maximus by default) however, still look a little weird. I don't know how it would look on Defensor though as I don't have Hot Spot yet, or any of them for that matter. It also makes them taller which is always a plus.
You know spada? I've always wondered. Why do you always say "What I like to do" when most of the time its already in the directions? are you simply expressing your enjoyment in that particular step in the conversion?

This configuration wouldn't have worked in G1 because First aid was a puss for a while and didn't want to fight or become Defensor. With out an arm they can still form but without a leg they are screwed.
He has capabilities to fight. He's a pacifist. He hates war. In the only time in the G1 cartoons where he actually fought was in The Headmasters, where he was seen giving a mighty kick to, erm, Tracks' face.
Meh, now that Rook replaced Groove and didn't make a deluxe sized Groove, I don't think I want the Protectobots anymore... I don't know why but Groove was always my favorite, and without him for a leg, I don't think I want this figure. I'm also heavily disappointed with Blades being yet another repaint of Alpha Bravo. I'm thinking of getting the Arielbots instead :/

Hey anyone else noticed that the name of the video is "Defenor" review?
I'm having trouble connecting the legs to hot spot's thighs. There are these two black squares in the ports for the legs and they seem to be hindering them from locking in. I can see some springs attached to them. Is there a way to get them to work properly or is it simply broken. I hope it's not broken.
