Having an aircraft carrier is the easy part.
Running and keep it in operation is a monumental task.
Don't forget the dozen of supply ships needed to support the carrier.

Exactly the Royal Navy and us navy have been conducting carrier operations for the best part of 100 years. The difference between land and sea based aviation is huge, the logistics of supplying aviation fuel, food ammunition etc will be too much for most smaller navies and is part of the reason Russia has never built its own bluewater carriers

Thomas Fredericks I could be wrong but I believe the ships maintain a more stable platform when traveling parallel at speed. This allows the ships to use their rudders to avoid collisions. While if they were stationary heavy oceans can push the ships into one another. I believe there are several other factors such as maintaining crew readiness. There are pictures of ships tied up and stationary but I’ve only seen them in littorals or calm seas. Kind of like submarines and their tenders. You’re right about the necessary supports ships. Imagine driving a big rig up I-95 and having to have a fleet of 12 support vehicles.

I’d say attributing the 1942 Pacific campaign as solidifying the ascendancy of the aircraft carrier is way off the mark.
In the 1940 Battle of Taranto the Royal Navy launched the first all-aircraft ship-to-ship naval attack in history on the Italian battle fleet, using aerial torpedoes.
The success of this attack (with 3 battleships disabled,1 heavy cruiser & 2 destroyers damaged) showed the ascendancy of naval aviation over the big guns of battleships.
And, of course, this action was studied with great interest by the Japanese, who used similar tactics in 1941, with their attack on Pearl Harbour…

    • @theant9821
      @theant9821 3 года назад

Exactly, the royal navy and Japanese navy noticed the carriers potential first.
The plus Bismarck wouldn't have been sunk when it was if not for the ark royal, etc.
Inspired by Taranto the Japanese successfully completed the audacious raid on pearl Harbor, the quote "thank God they sunk our battleships" comes to mind.

Really great video. Actually the us has a defense system that only costs 1 dollar to destroy a missile. It is high power, high focus laser tech. They can shoot thousands down.
My father-in-law used the tech several years ago. No ammunition can be seen and it shoots out of an odd box. You can't even see it.
They use it to redirect missiles by burning their chip while in flight.

This called advanced development stage, not early development. Some of those are ready to be installed tomorrow and ready for production.

If the USA Navy had the Barak-8 missiles that Israel sold to India, it would greatly enhance their overall missile defenses. Also the bank of air defense missiles they carry on the aircraft carriers only holds 8 missiles. I'd think they would be more prepared with banks of 24's.

Even at 100% interception a full US CBG could take out up to 200 incoming targets. Why we wiped the entire US fleet in one single salvo ... of 800 missiles. Gotta love RIMPACS right? You can reset and? Do it again. ;-)

Having an aircraft carrier is the same as having a runway except you get the benefit of moving. You're still coveted by inmeansr screens of ABMs. Some would even say the Aegis ABM is better than the ones we have on land. Without launch detection capabilities I don't believe yet that ballistic missiles pose such a threat, and china's Hypersonic glide vehicle is inaccurate and not easy enough to control to pose a threat. Their carrier development is scary and so is their aircraft development. As they have stolen terabytes of tech specs and manufacturing secrets and so on. Essentially China doesn't yet have the quality of manufacture and the ability to make what they steal but they quickly will approach a point by 2030 where their cheap electronics become sensitive military electronics that maybe the US won't even know how to produce. In order to prevent this from happening we must protect our military industrial complex from Cyber attacks.

Ok let's get some perspective here because there is only one way to treat a bully and that is to take the bull by the horns and tear them off. So if you REALLY want to intimidate your enemies with carriers you need at least 10,000 which would be 10-12 times larger with 1000 aircraft each plus all the sophisticated high tech shit which can cruise at 300MPH with a top speed of CLASSIFIED plus 1000 support ships per carrier including 250 nuclear subs with 5000 missiles plus an impenetrable defence dome with a radius of 5,000 miles. Then you can pound the Spratlies out of existence with impunity while leaving your enemies PETRIFIED witless and shitless and just in case the little bastards want to spoil your action you can release 1 MILLION MISSILES SIMULTANEOUSLY Now that will substantially reduce the size of the argument

I am convinced that many of us Westerners are envious of Chinese and Russian development:
    1) Europe with its 650 million inhabitants is a more importent market for the Asians than the US with 325 million inhabitants. Europe with its 48 countries (28 in EU) have almost the same GDP (in total) as US with its 50 States and maybe Walmart has to produce their own stuff in the future! The GDP/year increase 3-4 % in China and 6-7% in India and both countries have about 1,4 billion inhabitants each!
By 2030 China will have the same GDP as US and by 2050 it has doubled it (twice the US GDP) and by 2050 India will have the same GDP as the US according to international calculations! www.pwc.com/gx/en/issues/economy/the-world-in-2050.html
    2) They are building gas & oil pipelines, highways & railways on the old "Silk Road" from Asian countries to Russia/Europe for future trades between them. The trades are about 10 times faster on land than on sea and US can´t affect that if disagreements arise (despite having a dozen carriers which are "sitting ducks" to missiles 2-3 times faster than defending missiles)!
The Royal Navy has said their new aircraft carriers have no defence against the Russian zircon missile. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/royal-navy-new-queen-elizabeth-class-aircraft-carriers-not-stop-russia-zircon-missiles-hypersonic-a7651781.html
Proposal is that the trade should take place in petrojuan, euro or any other agreed currency instead of petrodollar via the BRICS organization! (BRICS = Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa)! The US has difficulty controlling production in China!
    3) 2/3 of all industries is in Asian countries and 2/3 of all population lives there so the future market will be there. All countries are copying and develops products - EVEN the US. In 10-15 years, China, India & Russia have passed US in technology they think. China, India & Singapore have the best education systems in the world acoording to conducted surveys especially in math & physics! There are 10 times more PhD´s graduates / year in both China & India than in the US!
The Government pays for students to study at universities in China and in the Scandinavian countries. In the US it is very costly so what happens if these American universities shut out students from other countries ... Bankruptcy I believe!
By the way: IT companies in Silicon Valley are largely managed by Chinese and Indian people!
    4) China has developed the world´s fastest supercomputer and has sent taikonauts to space , Maglev Trains operating at speeds of up to 430 km/h (270 mph) among other things and India has their own "GPS satellites"! Most Westerners don´t even know how Maglev Trains works (do a search)! China plans to build its own space station and has recently landed on the moon's backside with a vehicle to investigate it geologically!
    Stealing US Tech? ruclips.net/video/38F1Y_ATP54/видео.html
Trump - You stole our 5G technology
Xi Jinping - But you don’t have 5G
Trump - That’s because you stole it
5G is conquering the world. You either hop on the train or left behind at the station. Russia, China & India have their own "Silicon Valley"
    5) NASA uses Russian rocket engines, which, according to the US Space Agency, are more powerful and are more reliable than the domestic ones. US Austronauts are sent safety to ISS from Russia with Russian space rockets!
    6) Russia & China are investing in Asia, East Europe, Africa & South America with infrastructure and help the residents build industries there while US just sells weapon systems (not the latest developed)! The US can almost only offer weapons and therefore they have a sharp deficit in trade balance with other countries!
Russia is building Nuclear Plants (3:rd generation) in different countries - including 4 in Egypt, 5 in India, 2 in Bangladesh, 3-4 in China, 1 in Finland etc and totaly 13 countries are in line to order so far!
US intervenes and sanctions countries that don´t follow US rules (even against their "allied") and creates war against those who don´t obey! Guess which ones are most popular !!!
Did US and NATO involvement (bombing/destruction) in Libya, Somalia, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan etc made more freedom to the people or more terrorist groups do you think?
Now US is moving her "take over plans" to Iran and Venezuela to get control over their oil sources as well! ruclips.net/video/9RC1Mepk_Sw/видео.html8)
