On this week's episode, Rob and Jamie welcome comedian Jim Norton! Sobriety can be a challenge and as sober paesanos, Jim and Rob have plenty of common ground. The trio talk about acting, relating to The Sopranos, being a better son/daughter, spousal benefits, and phone addictions. Jim got married late last year and he reveals the struggles he and his wife faced with the immigration office on the long road from Norway to the USA. I like how the pods are hitting an hour now. I'd just be settling in to it when they are like 30 and 40 mins and bam ...over .it also helps that they have a genuine guest/pro like norton who who doesn't belittle them every second like howie,and let's the talk just happen
God I have always had the biggest crush on Jamie since a kid and her growing up to be genuinely humble and kind just make her that much more beautiful. I swear her husband is the luckiest man...and no idc if I sound like a simp

Can’t believe Rob thinks he sucked on THE Soprano’s. You can see how clearly he showed how reluctant he was to try to live up to his father. Then the scenes where he wants to marry that Puerto Rican chic. Then the crying after she dumps him. The kid was good.
Rob was very good. Just made it believable for a kid in that situation

@nottodaypal Im sober 4years now & I completely relate to what Rob's saying about feeling off put with the compliments on my sobriety. I feel exactly the same way, I dug that hole, I fucked up and now I'm just doing what I should have been doing all along. I guess some people need constant reassurance but I'm just not that way. It's nice to hear that someone else feels this way.
I am so happy for the 59 minute episode...I understand maybe not always committing to a 1 hour pod...but especially if they are feeling it. I feels like most eps there is grea5 momentum, great banter, jokes, stories etc..then they just end it bc it's time...maybe I'm still reeling from the Dr. MOMMy Jeans loss

The acting aside, the writing WASN'T just about an obstacle and the protagonist over coming the obstacle, it was about the failures of the characters, what happens when the plans gets turned upside down. AND I CAN'T BELIEVE how many people I had to explain what Black Sails was. Like, why didn't more people watch it? Why don't they know about it?
Probably because it was on STARZ (I think), which hardly anyone has a subscription to.

What a likable guy
I remember being a little girl, no siblings, just begging my Mom to get off the phone and pay attention to me. She was on it from 6pm-10pm every night, just gossiping with her sisters and friends. I was so alone and neglected. This was the 80s. I wonder how many adults had a similar experience. It's not a new phenomenon, kids being ignored for a phone. PLEASE spend time with your kids!! Put the damn phones away. Self-care is putting it down.

It's like a Hopper painting; looks great, but is lacking something... it's the fine details, not the basic objects, the patinas, the textures, the marring. So you have to think, what's the motivation behind the motivation. What is this character feeling while they said this, what is the person feeling while he/she is waiting to say the next thing. You have to think, while this person is having a conversation, what is their point A to B in the physical realm.

After they talked about the rude guest, I went straight for the comments. I knew I'd find who it was.
Gotta say, I listened to the whole episode with Mandel right after this, and I don't think it was that bad at all. He never claimed he didn't who they were, he meant he didn't know them personally, and it was brought up during hygiene OCD talk. Meaning he doesn't know their home or how they live, or where they've been.
You can tell Robert was getting annoyed, but I think it was everyone waiting for a shoe to drop. Howie is so sarcastic, it comes off as aggressive sometimes. You just have to give the energy back. He's an old alpha male. No need to leave the podcast feeling negative. I thought it was a great interview!
I thought the Howie ep was interesting and good content. This one is obviously great. Jim rocks!
