Interesting teaching concept for zone progression. The center will call out " Zero " identifying the play side or back side LB'er depending on an odd or even defensive front.

Telling the D what play side is and who is blocking who. As a D line coach, we usually move our D after the first sound. All line calls fall apart once we move.

ace is C/G combo. duece is a G/T combo. trey is a T/TE or H combo. So think it as 1,2,3, from Center out.
