Totally agree when it comes to the exhaust. I don't want a stupid loud bike when I'm doing 500 mile days. Loud pipes can be fun, but it absolutely wears on you after 8 hours.
I laugh at myself because I use to be like louder the better. My dad would say damn boy that’s obnoxiously loud. I’m 32 now and I hear a loud bike and I’m like ahhh dude, that’s just obnoxiously loud…….ah shit am I getting old. 😂 I like good tone with a solid chop.
my 2004 sportster is set up for nice long rides, Cincinnati to smokies, about 6 hours, vance and Hines staggerd shorts. At 85 mph passing, it startles the hell out of people in cars. I wear ear buds and listen to tunes because a mounted stereo would be useless. lol
Sweet. If I were a Harley guy, Chris would be exactly the dude I'd want doing ANY damn mods on my bike. There's just no substitute for experience. Great collab vid.
This video is awesome. Hearing your reservations for several minutes over the cam, and the exhaust... and then seeing your face on first start. Yeah. And then watching you as it ran up on the dyno. Bet it wasn't hearing it as much as feeling it. So cool.
The long hauls are going to be way more pleasant when you learn to tweak the Ohlins. Chris is a gem. Made his recommendations based on what you were looking for & how you ride.
I was just talking to my husband about how I got cams cause I wanted it to just boogie when I needed it, but now I feel like when you wear heels. You look and feel sexy but your feet hurt like hell when you're walking for too long. I love the sound and speed but after hours of riding it's too much. I wear ear plugs and that helps but it takes away from my music going over 70 mph on the highway which kinda sucks cause I LOVE singing to my songs. I mean, I hear it but I heard it way better before. Also I have more vibration on the bars. On the flip side I freakin LOVE the torque, the instant speed. Lady Rose FLTRXS is a beauty and a beast! You always sacrifice something. I love riding.
Almost choked on my hot wing when u said “ lovely”😂. All my years riding Harley’s and I don’t think I’ve ever heard it described that way. A new first. Congrats on the upgrades !
I've watched so many of Jess's videos that she feels like a friend. I can see the rationale for upgrading a bike one loves rather than say changing the bike and possibly hating it. I've never found the perfect bike (after 55 years of road biking) but the closest I came to such was many years ago - my three back to back fantastic Kawasaki GTR 1000s. More recently I've cashed in my GTR1400 for a Honda Valkyrie Interstate. I'm beginning to think that such giant bikes are mainly good for posing. What reviewers imagine is often largely exactly that, and often far from the truth. The older one gets the more inclined one becomes to compromise / settle. And its way cheaper than endlessly searching for the Holy Grail. But I still hanker after my past - a 1960s British 650 with a kick start and the only fancy trimming - a coat of polish. Good luck Jess.
If a restomod 63 Norton Atlas I know the owner and I don’t think he has found a buyer yet. My first Norton was a 1960 Norton Dominator 99 SS 600cc twin with open intake and exhaust, dual carbs, Dunstall valve train and a vertical OHV head from the factory racing program. Never outran by anything but a 500 Triumph wildly sprocketed. But it ran out of revs around 75 while I could cruise at 100. Finally went with the 955i Daytona because I wanted a fast bike that wasn’t going to cost an arm and leg to hit 11 secs above 125.
When I got my Street glide I just had them do the stage 4 big bore kit right off the bat because I like HP and Torque, yes I lost a little bit of mileage of gas but not much. The bike likes to cruise at the 70, 80 mph with no problem and I know that if I needed to in order to get away from an idiot trying to ride my back end I can definitely walk away from them quickly then get back to cruising. Keep on doing your thing and stay safe.
Yep! One thing leads to another. The conversation evolves (or devolves according to your pocket book) into "you may as well...." hahaha Appa sounds like he went through puberty now. Got that deep voice lol.
I was so happy you went with their suggestions. That 475 cam is from my learning beautiful for your exact application. I am an (asshat) rider 🤣 with all the power and there is absolutely something to be said with a healthy reliable motorcycle. Congratulations on the updates 👏
I have an 06 Electra Glide with the S&S 475, mild headwork, SE air cleaner, Fueling oil pump, and a set of free flowing fishtails. I did this at 39k miles when I upgraded my cam tensioner. I figured I would punch it out to 98 CI at a later date but it never happened. I am at 121k and have had nothing but scheduled maintenance. I was at 96hp and 114 Tq. It likes 80 mph on the highway and I am running a 5 speed.
Very cool vid, Jess. After thinking hard, I decided not to say what was on my mind. Hey, maybe you can return to Florida in March and escape winter! Harley-Davidson and 1911s--two old but still great things in America.
For loud exhausts a V&H Propipe with the optional quiet baffle fixes that. It's quiet until you roll throttle then it sounds like a V8. At cruise its quiet again.
@@jaimebedolla989 what bike do you have Jaime? The Propipe has its own heat shields. I ran a Thunderheader & also a D&D fatcat. I really love that propipe.
Congratulations on the new cam and dyno results. What a great move. Regarding the new shocks. I hear Ohlin’s are amazing. I know Legend recommends setting the sage to mid-range and tweaking the compression and rebound to your comfort level. That’s probably true for Ohlin’s as well. Ride on sister!
Can’t wait to get my bike worked on and make it how I dream with a nice cam and exhaust etc… Chris seems like such a good tech and worth the ride to Florida alone!
I have the HD Torque Cam. Initially had very loud TAB exhaust with their Zombie Baffles( pretty much an open pipe). That loud definitely wore on my riding long distance. I have since switched to TAB's intermediate baffle and am very pleased.
I recognize that "just installed a new cam" smile!!!! hahahaha congrats! Those Olins are the bomb!! I promise you will not have stock suspension on any bike from now on!! Safe ride Jess!
Pretty sweet music the sound is. I love so much. Unfortunatly, my sportstar muffler needed to set back to stock.because of leagal inspection. So that looking forward to see next video! Thanks
Jess it is so awesome to see you riding in that area. I was raised in Orange city and Sanford FL. i can look at the roads and scenery and tell where you are. It's like going home thru your camara. Appa might need a new sign now. Keep up the stellar work and i will keep on watching. Enjoy your cruise on the high seas rally.
Damn! That lopy exhaust sounds plenty wicked! As a Harley should sound! Reminds me of the aftermarket baffles I put in my Screaming Eagle exhaust, on my '06 Sportster 1200 Low. It sounded deep just like that!
Jess you are awesome!! Watch all of your videos I have a Rinehart 4" on my 2021 Street Glide Special too! Sounds great with the new cam, maybe going to upgrade to that!! I always could use a little more power!!
It’s funny you mention repairs on old homes. House was built in ‘64 and we are smack dab in the middle of a kitchen remodel. We took it down to the studs and yep, we did find some horrors.
You just got your first lesson in Harly performance parts. Aftermarket (S&S) is waaaaay better to put your money in vs SE parts. Iam sure Chris set the sag for your rear shocks, but truthfully, putting a set of Ohlins on the rear, just makes the front suspension show how bad it is. When you have your front suspension done, you will be able the see how much the rear improved. I just had Ohlins installed on my front to go along with the rear Ohlins shocks on my RG. Iam mad, I waited so long!!..........Safe Travels
Hope it delivers you what you like sure sounds good. And how cool is it to be there when it is being done and be part of it your are a lucky girl for sure..👍🏻🇦🇺
LUV this video .... because I recently had my dealer install the S&S 475 cam in my 2020 Fatboy 114. So when U and Chris decided to install the 475 I was VERY anxious to hear ya'lls opinion. Your reaction was EXACTLY like mine. My Dyno numbers were a lil bit higher 121/126 but that is probably due to my bike being newer..(my guess). Like ya'all we installed a HD clutch as well. I probably have put a couple thousand miles on my "new build" and ABSOLUTELY love it. THANK YOU for sharing your experience and I was STOKED that you all like the 475 too. You and Jordan Ride safe !!!!
This damn video just cost me a few thousands dollars! LMAO! My bike is in the shop for tires and just called them for cam kit & tune. Keep the videos coming!!!
im a lil jelous , i will be doing the s&s cam chest kit with the 475 very soon on my 22 low rider S , that bike sounds amazing ! Wish i still lived in Orlando , Chris is the MAN !
That suspension is adjustable in 3 ways Damn.. I been thinking about doing bars this winter .. maybe those Ohlins are in there too Keep up the good content The channel is bangin along nicely !!!
I pretty much have the same bike as you. I had to learn to use the friction zone of the clutch more for low speed stuff like parking lots and round a bouts because the motor really does not like life much below 2500 RPM. Using the friction zone solves that issue and I sure like the rest of the power band. Pass a big truck/no problem!
Scorpion clutch will make everything so smooth........ Supertrapp exhaust would also give you a tunable exhaust with great exhaust tone, which is great for long hwy travel . Have fun !!

Good medium earplugs, enough to drown out every but the road and immediate traffic.

"You know why the clutch went out? It wasn't the power... it was Atlanta traffic" truer words have never been spoken hahaha
#Truth
I felt this in my soul 😢

The color scheme is ON POINT!!!!!!!!! Hands down one of the nicest Road Glides I’ve ever seen!!!

Appa deserves all the love! He’s been a trusty travel companion, helped you earn a living and he’s handsome as hell.

I didn't want to say it, but I don't understand how the large displacement engine bike in this video wouldn't have enough power.
What a treat to get to watch HTW and BG in the same video!
You need to get together with the guys at Fairing Exchange and get the inner fairing replaced to color match. It looks so much better!
