This was the first time my ears👂have ever attended a funeral 😂… 🥀⚰️🕯
I was leisurely having a cigarette outside of my spot here in Santa Monica looking for something to kill time on my mobile, saw this thumbnail with it showing it was uploaded on RUclips only two minutes earlier, and took a quadruple take to see that Kendrick really dropped something official just after the menacing diss masterpiece that is Meet the Grahams. Once my brain gathered the West Coast style beat, Kendrick's even more West Coast flow, and got through the first stanza, I was physically celebrating because this was the dance-off on the grave after the early funeral.
I lol'd how LA is going to go insane here that very night and went to two venues to see it for myself. Crowds already chanted the song, knew the lyrics, and everyone went crazy. I knew it was a hit but I didn't know it'd eventually be this huge which is great. It should win a Grammy and I said within a half-hour of it dropping to friends and colleagues that this is the 2024 Summer Song, no doubt.
Then he drops the video on July 4th when everyone is home and you know the cookouts and family gatherings were dancing and celebrating to it.
