We have seenJerry Root speak 2 times in Utah. So wonderful. CS Lewis changed my life. Mere Christianity, The Great Divorce, Abolition of Man, That Hideous Strength! Read them many times.
Love this man! Jerry Root is a highly regarded professor at where I went to undergrad. I never took a class with him, but I went to every lecture I possibly could that he gave and soaked up every word. He is someone that just gives off the "aroma" of Christ. An astounding intellect and an inspiring man of faith.
Great video guys thank you so much. The Doctor is a delight to listened too. Love CS Lewis, my favorite quote attributed to him is: "When the whole world is running toward the edge of a cliff, the person running in the opposite direction appears to have lost their mind."
I love what he says about college inoculating you against learning, and finding new things every time upon rereading. Very thought provoking, thank you.
Rereading the Chronicles of Narnia as a person who has “seen” him-after so much liberal arts/separation of church/state indoctrination in high school, college, law school and a life in tech. Trippy times!!!!!❤
Would have missed this had I not seen Babylon Bee YT post that it would be silly to miss this just because it was on another channel. Now I havent missed it. Thank you for helping me not be silly Babylon Bee!
C.S. Lewis absolutely brilliant. Hid his Christianity and the smartest liberals in schools and colleges waxed on about him like he was a sort of Dickens “pick yourself up by the bootstraps” life is grey figure for the kiddies. Many were horrified to find out that it was all about Jesus, and so was he. His Lesser known “The Great Divorce” was taught to my at my elite girl’s school where a woman from BYU taught which wasn’t a typical school for an English teacher at this school (The Winsor School in Boston.) She put faith over all and it was clear as she’d also break out and preach the gospel, sing these hymns to kids we volunteered with after school for “credit.” Back then I didn’t say a thing to my snickering friends about how I was soothed by it. She was real. At 40 I am so impressed by the power of Christians and anyone of faith who effects change from the heart by carrying peace and bringing actual light and presence to kids and people-both us scared middle school & high schoolers at the fancy school AND the children we were supposed to be tutoring in a shelter who really just needed to be sang to. C.S. Lewis knew the power of life and the salvation of doing Christs work on earth. He did that in the same effective way by staying humble and masking the faith in a way that uptight adults could find powerful and study and dissect until…then they might see.
I've been a great fan of CS Lewis. I've never heard of Jerry Root. Thank you so much for this interview. Oh, man, my reading list is expanding.

The "Root Hog" at Whittier College. Dr. Root was my youth pastor and led me to Christ. This interview was an unexpected treat.

Wait… the comedians are *this* well read!? Instant respect. ❤
One of my favorite professors. So cool that you guys got him on.
This guy was fantastic. Please invite him again.
You can tell he's read many good books by the way he seamlessly paints a picture with his words. Good interview.

Oh to have a heart for others like he does
Fascinating fellow
Lovely interview
Really enjoyed this one. Glad you guys did this interview. Currently working on a list of books to read myself as well as introduce to my 10yo son.
I just noticed they made a young readers version of Lincoln's Last Trial
Tim Keller’s wife was named Kathy not Karen and her letter from Lewis is in the book. Love Jerry Root.
Spurgeon and Lewis are my favorites.
Great interview, now I have more books to read
Good interview.
They made us read Chaucer in 9th grade. Really tough at that age
I'm a slow reader too!!!!
I just read this book. The homosexuality going on in the boarding schools was kind of crazy
It’s horrible and remains in tact.
Great
Are they twins?! I've never seen them sitting together.😂
👏👏👏💕
Leaving YT because of what they did to Nick. See yall on rumble
