Thanks a lot mate, I ordered the almost cheapest replacement hedgehog (EUR 27) and replaced it in about 45min. Would have taken me 2hrs without your prompts! In my e46 touring I have 6 screws in the outer part of the glove compartment, one on the door side bottom as well --> you too but you broke it while disassembling!
Thanks for your video. Just did a replacement on my FSU on my 2001 325ci convertible. FSU in my case did not have a plastic housing. Housing was metal filled with epoxy. Was held in by the clip only, no screw. Stepper motor unit was held in my two screws as expected. Replacement FSU was loose without an upper screw so put a screw there. My car was bought new from dealer so I know everything is "as built".
Do you no what the housing is for with the metal rod that goes to it is and is for as I did my resistor but didn't put them back on may have to do it at later date
I was thinking you might want to function check the new resistor immediately after installation, before you go to the trouble of reinstalling your whole glove box.
Wish I'd watched this BEFORE I fought to get that bloody thing out. Looks like some of the trim panel on yours was alreay broken which might have simplified things, but I could not get that stupid vent tube out of the way and didn't see how it came out. Painful to work around it. No room for your hands or any way to see what you're doing if your hands are in there. Used some foul language, I admit. The reason I changed the FSR was because the car was demonicly possessed. I suspected the FSR was the reason for a parasitic battery drain too. Last couple of days, the blower would start up randomly with the ignition off and after having sat for many hours. Had to keep the thing hooked to a battery charger until I had the part and the time to fix it. The blower motor would still function almost normally, although it would sort of pulse sometimes. But, definitely didn't outright quit or give really obvious signs that it was screwy. Since the blower no longer runs at random, I assume that the battery drain issue is also cured.
Nice job! I haven't had to do mine yet but that glovebox drives me mad lol sometimes it goes back so easily and other times it fights me all the way! 😂
Han, if the blower is broken is the problem persistent? My BMW 320d (2002) sometimes air comes out and sometimes it doesn't at all. It is hit or miss of when it comes on or not, sometimes mid drive it will go off if it was on and vice versa if it was off sometimes it will go on. All this happens while the screen is light up and I'm trying to get it to work. When the air is blowing it out it will work perfect cold or hot. Would this be a blower issue or something else? When it is working I can adjust speeds like normal. Thanks for any feedback.
I have a question my bmw 330i will not unlock my door with the key fob and I can’t open any door beside the front door with the key unlock button doesn’t work either
There is a special (secret) code where you open the door and work the inside door latch 3 (2?)times in a row quickly. That fixed mine. I have a 2001 325ci convertible. Sorry, I can't remember where I saw that but it was on the internet.

Question
I've a 320d e46 right hand drive bmw. Will the fsu be located on the drivers side or front passenger side? Thanks
under the glove compartment it should be cause the center console curves towards that part and there is no space.
Hi, same issue, problem solved. Thanks!

Hahahaha
Excellent video! Thank you!
I hit a bump and fan came back on. 😂 is that the resistor?
It just couldn’t resist eh?

Mine had that issue until it finally died. I'm replacing mine tomorrow. If it doesnt work, I'll post back.
It worked and fixed mine with the same issue.
@Jayden Bluebell did u fix it?
@Jayden Bluebell thanks. i'm ready for the hot sunny summer

I found out I had to reprogram my key fob then I’m good thank you
@@williamharris1101 good to hear
Han, it looks like you forgot to remove 1 screw of the glove box?
Looks like somebody already broke it.
Thank You. I replaced this a precaution on our E46 when I had the glove box out for other reasons.
Just for fun, huh?
Is this the same location for the 1999 E36 M3?
No, that one’s in the trunk
@@steved8714 The resistor is in the trunk??
Where is it located in the trunk? Why would it be in the trunk?
I replaced the relay and resistor and still no air. all fuses are good. Probably the blower motor itself...
At least it’s a brand new one in there tho 🤷♂️ it be like that
I need instructions for the right hand drive E46 3series
I've just done my RHD E46 3 series, what do you need to know?
@@carlwood5501 is the resistor still accessible from the glove box side in rhd?
Play the video in a mirror.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks.. I struggled to take the lil fucker out, turns out there was one last torq screwed in. LOL! Oh well, at least I learned something new.
Remember to wear gloves! Behind the panels there is some insulation that irritates skin...
Should be the same for m3 right? Nice diy
Yessir
Right on
you need to do this the right way.... he does not do it right.... it needs to fit to the end!
Good work!
good
I just did this service today, and all I'll say is that I have nothing but hate in my heart for the engineer who thought that top torx was a good idea
😭😭😭
!
I hit a bump and fan came back on. 😂 is that the resistor?
Most likely
