Hi Cameron , when you apply for the GTIN exception do you still need to buy a bard code for when you sent your products from China to the warehouse Amazon? Or Amazon will provide that for send to the manufacture

One tip you should add - when filling out Amazon's template to request a GTIN exemption, you need to make it look like a professional memo with letterhead and a "seal" or company logo at the top of it. I went through rounds and rounds with Amazon "support" until I finally got my Dad's trademarked bike seat approved for GTIN exemption, and this is after even getting a UPC to begin with as when I signed up I thought they were required but at least I don't have the $50 annual fee anymore. Wish I would have found this video when I was trying earlier to get the GTIN exemption, this video is way more helpful then Amazon "support" ever was - they should be paying you for putting out clear instructional material - ha!

I know it’s really basic info, however, your screen was not clear enough to see the trail that got you to that page. I did manage to find it eventually. Ok this video had EXACTLY what I needed....apparently the one thing I was missing was the fact that there was no star (asterisk) next to the product ID after I got approved for exemption. I did not notice that it was gone and thought there was something wrong when it asked me for the product ID LOLLLLLLL
EXACTLY the video I needed. My brand, Bad Girl Balm, (handmade tattoo balm) was already approved as a Brand name and for my category (beauty and personal care), so then i got stuck when listing my first product on this "product ID" stuff.

Glad to hear it! And If you want to start a brand, there is a chance that the reseller barcodes don’t work because the correct brand name is not in the GS1 database!

Hi Camron. Great video! Since most t-shirts are packaged in poly bags without labeling, how would you suggest taking pics of t-shirt packaging when applying for GTIN exemption?
I would take one out and add photos of the branding on the tag or printed on the shirt in anyway, otherwise just try the packaging but could take a few tries :/

Lets say the manufacturer finishes packing my order and ships straight to amazons warehouse. At what point am I able to put my brand logo on the products? Do some manufacturers do it for you (but what if they don't do that sort of custom work?) Do I have to order my product to my house and then brand myself and get amazon to pick it up? Or is there some way to brand in-between from my manufacturer to the amazon warehouse? Little confused about this.
That is something you would go to your vendors for before it gets to Amazon. Some vendors allow you to send labels and packaging and they put them on for you some vendors provide customization services. Some vendors don’t offer either of these in that case you will have to have the things shipped to you you customize them you send them to customers. You can also customize them and send them to Amazon warehouse for distribution.

Hi Camron, great videos! I have been approved for the GTIN exemption, but I still have the asterisks for Product ID & ID type on Vital Info Tab!! Obviously I can't save and finish without getting past this step. It will disappear when I click on variations (we sell 2 colors) but then I get the error when I can't fill the Product ID & ID type under each child variation. I can't find an actual email help option for the seller support, only forums and more videos that don't help. I tried entering GENERIC like you suggested to others below, nothing. I don't have a link in my approval email either. HELP!!! TIA
Seller support is there, just go to the bottom of the contact us screen, and there will be another button that says contact us again. Would do that if you already got approval.

Hi Cameron, Thank for for your info. I have obtained the ability to post ads by getting approved for generic (jewelry) items as you instructed. I am have 2 big problems still though: 1) The issue is that the Amazon message keeps coming back saying that I am using the incorrect ASIN and SKU even though one is not required when making my listing because it is generic (this is after I have saved the listing). It will initially allow me to make the listing but then after an Amazon message says to give them 15 min to see if it is approved, the listing will then show as incomplete and a SKU and ASIN number has been generated and pops up in the blank area. When I click on the ad it showed my listing title and that the items are "currently unavailable." I can't seem to successfully make the listing. Also no other Amazon sellers have the exact same items as me, only a few that are slightly similar but there are differences like location the were manufactured, style, or different clasps. Please let me know how I can post my own individual listing without just being in someone else's listing buy box as my items are not exactly the same. 2) Also the other issue I'm having is when I post size variations it wont allow me to save even though I have filled everything required out. On the top line is asks price and quantity. Different sizes are different prices and I specified the quantity by size but it still wont allow me to save it. Is there a step-by-step way of solving both of these issues? Thank you and I really appreciate it.
I applied and was approved for GTIN exemption, but when I create a new listing, product ID is still required. How long does approval take for this requirement to be removed? Am I missing anything?
Did you get this resolved? I’m having the same issue. I was approved but when I follow all of the categories it’s still asking for product ID required. It’s been 48 hours since I was approved.

However, the product id asterisk still appears whereby I am unable to save the listing. I have been brand registered for a year and have created several listings by just using an ASIN. And select category
And type brand name
And upload image again

I have been selling on Amazon for over a year. I sell Vintage items, Tupperware, Corelle, Corningware, Pyrex ect.. So far I have been selling from listings already on there. Now I'm at the point I need to create my own listings since I have items I can't find on there. So ofcourse these items have no UPC. I tried once what you said to do, it didn't work. I did it as Generic. Help what am I doing wrong TIA.

Hi camron, I got a question, whats the downside of GTIN? I tried to upload a video on my listing, but it wont let me, some say atleast a UPC for me to be able to upload it.

Hi Camron, great videos! I have been approved for the GTIN exemption, but I still have the asterisks for Product ID & ID type on Vital Info Tab!! Obviously I can't save and finish without getting past this step. It will disappear when I click on variations (we sell 2 colors) but then I get the error when I can't fill the Product ID & ID type under each child variation. I can't find an actual email help option for the seller support, only forums and more videos that don't help. I tried entering GENERIC like you suggested to others below, nothing. I don't have a link in my approval email either. HELP!!! TIA
Seller support is there, just go to the bottom of the contact us screen, and there will be another button that says contact us again. Would do that if you already got approval.
Our product is on but when you search it doesn't show anywhere, why is this? Have we missed something out? Thanks

hello! thank you!i am new on amazon! i have one question! if you brand the product with manufacture but you have not trademark yet and added the product on amazon with GTIN exemption just to test , and after you want to trademark and brand register the product do you need to buy the UPC BARCODES? also if you list the product again with the upc barcodes will you have the reviews ? or your product when you will list it with upc barcode will not have reviews?thanks for your help, appreciate it
Hi Cameron, Thank for for your info. I have obtained the ability to post ads by getting approved for generic (jewelry) items as you instructed. I am have 2 big problems still though: 1) The issue is that the Amazon message keeps coming back saying that I am using the incorrect ASIN and SKU even though one is not required when making my listing because it is generic (this is after I have saved the listing). It will initially allow me to make the listing but then after an Amazon message says to give them 15 min to see if it is approved, the listing will then show as incomplete and a SKU and ASIN number has been generated and pops up in the blank area. When I click on the ad it showed my listing title and that the items are "currently unavailable." I can't seem to successfully make the listing. Also no other Amazon sellers have the exact same items as me, only a few that are slightly similar but there are differences like location the were manufactured, style, or different clasps. Please let me know how I can post my own individual listing without just being in someone else's listing buy box as my items are not exactly the same. 2) Also the other issue I'm having is when I post size variations it wont allow me to save even though I have filled everything required out. On the top line is asks price and quantity. Different sizes are different prices and I specified the quantity by size but it still wont allow me to save it. Is there a step-by-step way of solving both of these issues? Thank you and I really appreciate it.
I applied and was approved for GTIN exemption, but when I create a new listing, product ID is still required. How long does approval take for this requirement to be removed? Am I missing anything?

You go applying for gtin exemption
And select category
And type brand name
And upload image again
Did you get this resolved? I’m having the same issue. I was approved but when I follow all of the categories it’s still asking for product ID required. It’s been 48 hours since I was approved.

Hi Camron thanks for sharing this Amazon video. I did exactly as you explained and waited over 30 minutes to create my listing. However, the product id asterisk still appears whereby I am unable to save the listing. I have been brand registered for a year and have created several listings by just using an ASIN. I created a support ticket but have not received any help. Do you have any other suggestions? Cheers!
