Starting at 12:00 my jaw opened 12:10 jaw dropped 12:15...fully open...12:22 goin crazy...12:25 eyes popping...12:29 disbelief of reality 12:44 I believe! doing backflips while rolling on the floor cheering. Epic match!
I'm not going to remove my post, but thank you for clarifying the rule set. I apologize if you are offended by how I feel. You're right, it's sport BJJ and there are rules attached to it. Take it easy man, and GL with your training.
True. And, Joao personally trained in San Diego with Clark Gracie (and Rodrigo Medeiros Academy) a "lot" over the recent years. Solid guy / BJJ is a small world.
if there isn't anyone on the next mat (like all jiujitsu tournaments) I think they should let them go out and keep fighting. A lot of fights have turned because of that restarting
Sure, but Clark doesnt have to care, its the refs job to separate the fighters. Its not practice where you immediately let go. Professional fighters usually wait for the ref to separate them because you might risk that your opponent says "i didnt tap"...and if the ref didnt see it the fight is not over. Happens.....
okay so the foot of the hooking leg also hooks the bottom of the knee on that side, this brings the guys head closer to the choking hand. . . .beautiful, I've got the omoplata position to the point that doing a front roll does nothing to my omoplata, all i needed was that one detail. . . .i was handing out omoplatas last night at the gym like it was a soup kitchen or some shit!
That's what I am saying, people didn't make a big deal because it was a choke. However, if it was another hold of some type like a knee bar, arm bar, toe hold, whatever he would have been seriously hurt. There was a good second and a half or more where he tapped, and there was zero reaction by the ref and it was a very obvious tap. He also restarted them during a submission attempt, and did not put them in the position they were in.
Honestly, it's plain stupid to restart during a submission attempt. If they're not in danger of knocking into another opponent from another mat, then it should just go until an escape or submission is obtained.
looks to me Ref was signaling to Mafra that he didn't have a triangle when he gave the direction to STOP. that's why he didn't restart from the triangle.
If the best point of a debate is made during a commercial break, does it count??? Your argument is moot; you should remove the post because it shows your lack of experience w/ the rules of BJJ. 1) - Theres a defined competition area on the mat 2) - The guard jump was initiated in-bounds 3) - The triangle (or any set-up you speak of) was initiated out-of-bounds 4) - The ref is off screen (we don't know when he says "break") 5) - The fighters are re-started in the last in-bounds position.
He couldve also use that to set up the omoplata. I'm not even talking about the reset and how it should be done, I just don't like there to be a break in the flow. When you break the action, its like stopping you in the middle of a heated debate with someone then asking you to resume 45 seconds after that pause. While you may not forget your point, you gave the other person a time to come up with a response to that point and now your timing is lost an have to look to make another argument.
I'm curious as to why this video is on top of the google search on Marcelo's name? is someone pushing a campaign on this?? does anyone have the video of clark losing to Mafra in their other match?
Strongly disagree; look again and you will see that they were out of bounds before the position was obtained (which also explains why the ref started them on their feet).
Best commentary I've heard in awhile.
i can watch so many times easily the the best match of the week. down on points and pulls off the submission in the last 45 sec. Great!!
He really is ridiculously photogenic.
O Marcelo foi meu professor em 2003 ainda quando morava no Brasil, o cara era já era fera, só desejo sucesso pra ele.

terrible refereeing
GRANDE...................................
Fantástico...
Acho ridículo essas interrupções p posicionar os lutadores p dentro do tatame, e logo no início rs. Tinham que pelo menos aumentar essa área.
Un-fucking-believable.
SICK
Damn that was awesome. That's how you finish!
Epic!!!!
Its amazing how fast you pass out
unbelievable!
Lapela lutou muito bem!
12:41 fanfarrão detect kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
YESSSS
와 진짜 오모플라타 장인이다
The was no reason for the ref to miss him tapping out.
im not argueing rules with you, have a ? though why do they drag them in sometimes when there in certain positions?
SHOW!!!!!

Very nice submission. But the ref should have stepped in and separated them...Its their job
Wow!

That was nice, eventually. Did a great job of frustrating the opponent with those apparently unbreakable grips for most of the match.
Damn....high level isht
a hahahahahahah hahahahahah hahaha aaaaahhahahahahah.... he said sarcasticly

12:30 beauty strangle!
These mats need to be larger... seriously
The early restart was fine I think the ref had said stop before the triangle came on.
that omoplata game ... damn
Maybe it's legal, maybe it's not, but I noticed Clark pulling up his sleeves a lot in the fight. Is that legal or is there any rules about that?
It is when the competitors are kids or white belts... the guy is a black belt, he knows when to tap. If he didn't, he's just learned.
He couldve also use that to set up the omoplata. I'm not even talking about the reset and how it should be done, I just don't like there to be a break in the flow. It's surreal how biased the commentators are, they are clearly in the Gracie corner, all that is missing is that they start cheering for Clarke...
Wow.
bomba caralho!!!!
I agree that the triangle was lost, but at least he could have restarted with grips
Plus he didn't tap Clarks arm or anthing..... Don't know if i like to photo op thumbs up though?
You don't want the whole shoulder in the triangle, part is good but when the whole shoulder is in front of your legs the choke isn't that effective.
I'm curious as to why this video is on top of the google search on Marcelo's name? is someone pushing a campaign on this?? does anyone have the video of clark losing to Mafra in their other match?
BOAAAAA CLARK!!!!
Dayum

Holy shit!
uma luta meio amarrada
Ehm, did you watch the fight or did you just not see that HE TAPPED?
Hmm. Thumbs up, eh?
