    I'm definitely a Hyper Responder since my Cholesterol levels have been registering with High LDL/HDL, and Low Trigs levels my Mental Clarity, health, body composition, and energy levels have been at its best in 2 decades. As a result I listen to my body, I don't worry about LDL levels anymore and if I'm wrong on my stance that's a chance I'm willing to take because before I could name 5-10 things that bother me health wise on a daily basis such as Migraines, Inflammation, Brain Fog, Prediabetes, High Blood Pressure, Anxiety attacks, depression, insomnia, sleep apnea low Vitamin D levels and the final one that help me to learn me was a pulmonary embolism. Its amazing in 3.5 years not one of these symptoms have retuned and my weight has fallen 75 lbs. By the way statins are garbage and disrupts your health in a major way.

      I started ignoring LDL after a month in Australia drinking beer, eating meat pies, and gaining 15lbs only to come back with a lowered LDL and a happy doctor. Meanwhile I was fat and my HDL dropped and my triglycerides skyrocketed. I told my doctor they were an idiot.

      @@JWB671 Yep you are a smart man your lowered LDL was probably more of the small dense particles. I go to doctors for blood test, and anything dealing with x-ray scans of the body I do listen to doctors but I make the last call on what I do when it comes to my health

      I have just had my blood test result, LDL Is sky high, triglycerides is low, expecting my family doctor to call me tomorrow again after two lipid blood work still no improvement, actually LDL is going higher than before, I don’t know how to say NO to statin to him 😢

      @@bessieng1277 Request a CAC scan. My LDL is high too, but I received a zero score on my scan (no plaque whatsoever). That shut my doctor up fast.

    "He's just an engineer" was all I needed to hear. Someone who hasn't been trained, indoctrinated, or brought up with the standard medical dogma is exactly what we need to look at things from a different perspective.

      Sad that people just take the same attitude they have about politics into health and science, health science is relevant to precisely everyone on Earth, and whoever is keen on further exploring how the body works should be supported and their findings shared and seriously reviewed, instead they get dismissed with prejudice because they are not recognized as medical experts. Dave is brave, I'm also a software engineer myself and even in software people put you down for doing things different than what they accept as the norm.

      Engineers are more scientific than MDs and MD scientists, IMO. They look at data more objectively and critically, and try not to introduce bias, which doctors don’t do as good a job at (big $pharma$ influencing a lot of their research)

    Thank you so much for all the information. Such a relief. Being underweight with low body fat, my high cholesterol numbers (HDL 114, LDL 183, TG 79, TC 313) look pretty rare to my doctor. Now I know the numbers are normal since I am on low-carb diet all the time. I just hope my doctor can understand this and can stop pushing me for medications

      They get pushed by pharmaceutical companies to get people on these drugs. Their records have to show they tried but it is up to patient whether they will use them or not.

    I am 70 yrs old male and at 68 yrs old I cut 95% of junk food from my diet and my LDL went from 98 to 178 and my A1c is 5.0

      Well what kind of procceced food u were heating? there's high carb high fat, high carb medium fat and high carb low fat types. And all kinds of protein variations as well.

    I love this guy. Back in the day when I was in university, we could always pick out the engineers. No offense, but they were a bit odd, no one understood what they were talking about. Fast forward to 2021, and I now totally understand everything Dave shares. His work is awesome and he is so humanistic in what motivates him. 👍👍

    My LDL was in normal range when I was 40lb overweight . Now in normal weight with excellent blood test except for the high LDL!
    My HDL went high, TG is down to 40 on Low carb diet..

    As an engineer I would like to point out that engineering is still science…. Like we still do all the physics and chemistry etc and depending what you specialize in, some of us take a few biology courses

      An engineer is not a scientist in dietary perspective. An engineer did not do indepth study about biology, physiology, nutrition or medicine and his basics in these topics are the same as any high-school graduates.

      @@didinx8417 There are doctors who specialize in nutrition and there are also nutrition degree programs separate from medicine. However, Dave took extra step in research using his experience as an engineer. He understand nutrition better than most doctors.

    Hey. I’m a hyper responder. I am a ifbb figure competitor. I’m always really lean, less than 12% body fat all the time and 7 % during competitions. I went keto to combat highish blood sugar. My A1C dropped from 6.0 to 5.5. My HDL is 70 ish my LDL went from 110 to 167. My hormones went for almost none to amazing. My energy is so much better. I’m 55 and have never done any steroids!!!

      Hdl should be over 80 to be a hyper responder. Ldl over 200 and triglycerides less than 70.Your leanness/ bmi sounds right for a lmhr , but you lipid metabolism is not active enough .....unless it has sped up since you commented !.

    I didn't hear any mention of one group of patients for whom the ketogenic diet offers new hope - Multiple Sclerosis. Improved function in many organs, especially the brain where many report a newfound clarity. How about an episode highlighting this in a special episode ?

      Given MS is an autoimmune condition carnivore is definitely beneficial. Long term sufferers should also utilise hyperbaric oxygen therapy and near infra red light therapy to accelerate the healing.

    I believe Dave is right on. I lived the SAD American diet and vegetarian with worsening health, with insulin resistance high blood sugar, higher triglycerides to HDL levels worsening even being athletic. I started keto and intermittent fasting within 3 months blood sugar back under control, blood work showed lower triglycerides higher HDL and slightly higher LDL levels. And I feel 100 percent better, lots of energy, fatigue gone. Sorry none believers, Dave is spot on.

    Dave is my hero. As an LMHR myself, his beautifully balanced approach and often-expressed "cautious optimism" certainly helps me stay calm with my high LDL (plus high HDL & Low Triglycerides). I am unable to change my diet since I feel sick if I up my carbs or stop IF. That Dave keeps fighting the good fight in the name of true science despite detractors, is remarkable. And as he so succinctly puts, doing so to the benefit of LMHR's & the clinicians trying to support them. My recent CAC scan = Zero! Almost 60 female, BMI 22, daily 20-30min walks with my dog; strength training 2-3times a week. Been keto for almost 2 years now.

    I have been in low carb since I was 11 years old. Not because I was obese, but because I could feel that I was so sleepy if I ate too much carbs since that age. My diet look weird at the time, especially in Asia, since everyone eat rice except me. I don’t really like to eat fruit, bread, pasta, potatoes too. I prefer eating protein and veggie. At age 21, I started skipping breakfast, because it just made me hungier around lunch & dinner time. If I wanted to eat ice cream or cheesecake, it became my meal not my dessert. When I had my cholesterol checked for the first time at age 21, it was 220 total, & my doctor thought it was because I ate too much processed food which I didn’t not. I’m 47 years old (Asian woman), so now I have been in low carbs for 36 years. I exercise regularly at least 4-5 times a week combine cardio & resistance, my weight is 56kg, my height is 167cm. My cholesterol total result always above 220. The last time I check in 2018, my total cholesterol is 322, HDL 94, LDL 211, triglycerides 58, HBA1C 4.8. I refuse to take statin, I took once, it made me headache. I notice the more I exercise, the higher my HDL & LDL result. The weird thing prior recovered from covid last April, every time I ate, a few minutes later I was very sleepy despite still eating low carbs. The sleepy effect was gone after 3 months.

    LC. For 7 years and high LDL 155, never concerns about it (Trigs/HLD ) ratios 1.7, last year. I cut out the HEAVY CREAM and my LDL went down to 105 and my ( Trigs/ HDL) to 0.9mg/dL.
    Happy 49years old 57kg, 168H, very athletic, muscle mass 42kg, BMI 19,

      In New Zealand heavy cream is just called cream .Cream is the last joy left..I have whipped cream and berries as a dessert ...like an ambrosia.. no other sweets , no fruits , no artificial sugars.. without cream I will die... hahaha.

    It's all too apparent that the term 'cholesterol,' as it's currently being used, is a contributing factor for the perpetuated mass confusion over metabolism - completely unnecessary. At the very least, those of us who possess the curiousity to have gained a better grasp of lipoprotein physiology could surely take the initiative of weaning ourselves of the unfortunate habit.
    So how about let's collectively opt to exclude this term from those discussions and the contexts in which its use spawns pure nonsense, and instead voluntarily be discriminating in how we use it: precisely, and in its appropriate context.
    >> 'blood cholesterol'? Just say lipoproteins. Each time, every time. Any more syllables required? Easy
    >> reclaiming the term cholesterol for its proper meaning = molecular cholesterol.
    >> yes cholesterol is one of the substances contained in lipoprotein, though far from the only one.
    >> how long does it take to specify all of the above? Exactly.

    Wow! I just found this video. I spent 30 years in software-centric engineering and I can really relate to the way Dave views the world (root causes, open sources, etc.). I am a bit underwhelmed with many health practitioners' lack of investigative rigor before making consequential recommendations. Anyway, I absolutely love the idea of open sourcing lab tests (anonymously, of course)! Hopefully someday this will evolve into one of the world's most valuable data sets for human health. Thank you Dave and Dr. Scher. Looking forward to the results of Dave's new study!

    I believe fibers of different types should be considered as well. Some people think they're low carb, but are not, because they eat soluble fibers that are touted as safe and low carb, especially in the keto industry. Not all keto diets are keto. Dr. Ken Barry talks about this. I also believe that the elevated LDL is a "protective" response to "injury," that eventually regulates down if given enough time. That might be years for some.

    I’m 61, NEVER overweight, always been conscious of my health and diet, ALWAYS been active and have a physically demanding job, zero signs of any heart disease. Just had a CAC scan and BOOM, looks like I’m a walking heart attack waiting to happen. Very discouraged now, this has really set me back. I thought I was the picture of health😮

      I am 58. At 55 I had a lung scan that inadvertently showed I had coronary calcium buildup in my LAD and sparsely in two other areas with a score of 70. I was always active and slim although I didn’t eat well ( fast foods, junk food, eating out all the time) and I smoked like a pack of cigarettes a day for like 30 years. Yet, I felt relatively healthy and happy. I exercised three to four times a week and never experienced any pain or breathlessness. Yes, my cholesterol rose as I entered menopause and had been high for about three years. My score has not changed in three years and a very small spot on my right carotid hasn’t grown in three years to the amazement of my radiologist and cardiologist. I was put on a statin which I took for a year and a half but I discontinued using it as it was raising my A1C, I was getting disphaysia, forgetting things, losing muscle, and my legs felt like I had 30 lb weights on them just going for a walk. In short, the statins really screwed my health for the worse. I am now mending my body through D3 with K2-MK7, omega 3 prescription, and several other supplements; as well as beginning a low carb, non processed food diet. I am now considered to have metabolic syndrome ( which is totally due to my statin intake causing pre diabetes). I am anxious to see what the next three months of being on my new diet will show in my bloodwork and the effects it will have on the way I feel. Since finding the plaque in my arteries, I have been super stressed about it which only exacerbates all my conditions. I have become super aware of every twinge, pinch, palpitation, heart rate … to an obsessive fault. Seeking out as much information as I can, reading comments, listening to alternative views has really helped my anxiety and given me very useful advice to take control of my health. I watched another of his videos with Dr.Agaston about CAC scores which was most enlightening.

    Before Keto my Triglycerides were 226, after almost one year on keto down to 93! Total is up to 370 with high small particles 3X what they should be. :(. Tri/hdl ratio went from 3.61 to 1.19 in one year. How the heck do I lower the SMALL particles???? Starting Natto and K2 soon? Any other suggestions ? thank you

      Realists understand that the half full glass spilled may be a good thing if it spills in the dried out potted plant. And, the half empty glass may be the best when it spills on the floor.
      Having a glass of half empty or half full means so many things and considering one perspective is never enough to evaluate it's usefulness.

    Hi. I hope Dave can see this comment. I just found out I am APOE4 3/4 should I be concerned with my cholesterol
    TL-463, Tri-100, HDL-83, LDL-360, VLDL-20
    CAC score 0 all other labs are great. A1C 4.9 blood glucose 89. 52yr post menopause. Need to lose 30 lbs but very difficult moving scale.I eat Carnivore/low carb

      You perhaps would profit to take a look at Protein Sparing Mimicking Fast. Like 2 days where you eat lean protein with very few lipids and alternate with your normal carnivore and less of lipid you use now.
      It seems to break my plateau and stubborn fat loss after a promising start :-)
      Great panel BTW I just guess that your doctors are all on statins prescription, looking at that LDL without even make a measurement of fasting insulin at the same time.

    My Triglycerides are 45..but higher HDL and LDL.. 235lbs to 168lbs...56 year old, no meds KETO/OMAD ..80%+ Carnivore.

      I've done this for 4 weeks and started on a keto diet with a 5 day fast of water and black coffee with salt. I've dropped 20 pounds of junk in the trunk and some chronic inflammation issues are resolving. That's my study of 1.

      I just received my blood work my Tri was 44 HDL 125 LDL 154 TC 285. My doctor is saying my numbers are elevated but not necessary to take meds at this time as I’m unlikely to have heart problems in 10 years. I’m 43 and keep active walk 30 mins a day. I eat low carb/keto

    I've noticed that if aic goes up, cholesterol goes down and vice versa. I became officially diabetic after taking Lavazza (fish oil) to birig high triglycerides down

      Good point re A1c. Been my discovery as well - you actually reminded me of this.
      Have also seen longer fasts, for me, is lower Trigs but higher LDL.
      Even coffee and exercise influence my LDL reading a LOT, so it's tough to understand my own real level.

    I am a lean mass hyper-responder and I would love to take part in any reaserch trials if you need it. I did with Dr Sharma in London, last July a CT calcium score scan and the result was 0. My LDL cholesterol increased when I started do keto and became fat adapted. My tryglicerides are normal but in the past I had total cholesterol high but high tryglicerides...my blood pressure is normal I am normal/low bmi, no diabetes my hba1c is 3...I am deeply fat adapted...

    My doctor pushes statins and has no nutritional training. I took myself off them, started modified keto, lost a ton of weight, increased daily exercise. He is still angry. He refuses to give me a cholesterol ratio test, find out how much is oxidated....just deals with a total number which to me is meaningless. By the way that total safe number keeps being lowered over the past 20 years by the drug companies to sell more meds.

      I'm 65, have gotten weight down, off T2d meds (among others!!) By keto. My Dr is now focused on my high LDL (227). Trig 115, HDL 56, Non-HDL (?) 250 and total 306.
      I'm getting a carotid CT scan...if that's ok, will tell my Dr no to resuming Statin which I quit taking last year.
      Does this seem like a good plan??

LDL meds although possibly useful for a tiny population - i suspect just not to the scale they are peddled out now… i could very well see some day will be under greater scrutiny than they even are now and may even be a future next class action lawsuit commercial you see on tv

    You just said an engineer is not a scientist. Suggest you talk to Dr. Peter Attia about that. He will explain to you how engineers perform scientific experiments with with much more accuracy and control than most major medical studies which are all flawed in one way are another. Engineers are scientists by definition. All of our core courses are science courses.

      @@aaronbr2001 I have recently tried a statin treatment as recommended by my cardiologist and I experienced severe side effects. LDL is my single 'scary' indicator. I am presently more afraid of statin tx than high LDL.

      @@robyn3349 I'd say push for other kinds of tests, like getting your ApoB levels checked in relation to your LDL levels, or getting a CAC done. A general LDL number just isn't enough information to make an educated decision.

    I had high LDL (120-200), HDL (50-60), TG (55-100) for 10 years. Paleo 50% fat, 27% carbs, all considered good food, no junk. Dr said it is OK. But my BP started to get high so I had to go full WFPB low fat to get it back to below 120/80, took 15 months to get there And that is after stopping the pills in june this year. Unfortunately, my TG went up (100-220). Also LDL (80-115), HDL (40-50). A year in my A1c is 5.5. My last numbers this July - TC 191, LDL 103, HDL 47, TG 176. And that is after 15 month of WFPB low fat vegan. But the effect on my BP was positive, no pills.

    In familial hypercholestorimia, the ones who die young actually have a problem with high blood clotting. The receptor malfunction that affects LDL numbers also affects clotting in the ones who die early. Those without clotting issues, live just as long as people without the fhc.

      The problem with FH that - to my knowledge - you have no studies who would lood at people with FH and stratify them according to the amount of sugar they are eating and then look at the risk.
      Or stratify them according to the insulin / some measure of insulin resistance (like homa-ir or ogtt).
      I wouldn't be surprised if there was not a strong signal there.
      Which means: I'm very sceptical about the FH whether it is really the root cause of CHD. It seems that in populations not eating the "SAD" diet CHD actually was almost not existant, the point is: There must have been people with FH at in these cultures as well - is it possible that they weren't affected by the CHD despite having FH?

    Great webcast! Ty. I would love to hear more about APO B especially as it relates to APO A1. My understanding so far is that APO B is the bad protein that can cause damage however APO A1 cleans up the mess APO B leaves behind. Therefore a blood test of just APO B by itself doesn’t make sense. You need a ratio of APO B/APO A1. True?

      A1 is the direct measurement of reverse cholesterol transport! The higher the better, independent of HDL. Moderate alcohol consumption raises it!

    All my markers are in line except my LDL(147)but my cardiologist begged and pleaded with me to get on a statin, even asked me how long I wanted to live. He paid zero attention to my HDL(78) and triglycerides(118). He did admit that my cardiovascular health is that of a healthy 25 year old(I’m 55 and completed full cardio testing) but still wants to throw drugs at me.

      I manage to convince my doctor not to prescribe statins. My LDL is 126. HDL 88. Triglycerides 46. You don't have to fill the prescription.

      @@marilynbeth5993 for a doctor to recommend statins with your incredible TG/HDL ratio and an LDL level that falls squarely in the lowest all cause mortality curve, is pretty insane. It's sad that your doctor is operating with such a glaring hole and his or her education. Put your lipid results in any online cvd risk calculator. The American Heart association has one and the Mayo clinic has one.
      You will be in the absolute lowest risk of heart disease.
      Take a screenshot and send it to your doctor.

    My wife had a her carotid artery plaque rise 30 percent in one year (0.7 sq cm to 0.91 sq cm) (last test in August). She has been on carnivore diet for 3 yrs, previously keto for 3yrs. LDL has been 5.5 for several years however HDL has been 2.4 for several years also. TG 1.6 and HBA1C 5.3. She lost 50 pounds over the last yrs and currently sits at 125. BP 70/110. Adding back avocados and blue berrys and some fermented vegetables. Stopped butter, bacon fats and limited egg yolks. Basically switched out sat fats for mono fats. Still eat lots of beef and some fish. Adding 1 or 2 teaspoons of pure honey as per the latest advice from Paul Saladino. TSH is a bit low so seeing if the increased carbs will help. Adding back a lot of swimming and power walking and some weight lifting. Want to see if LDL and TG will come down significantly Doctor of course wants her on statins. Obviously the increase in soft plaque is a serious concern. Looking to get a CAC but very hard to come by in Canada.

      No nothing like that. Her CAC score was 0 so great news there. Will be doing another ultrasound this September. Hopefully plaque has stabilized or dropped.

    Strict Keto for three years. Triglycerides and HDL are good. LDL high, but the small ldl particles are in the good range. Apo B is high. I think this means that it’s my large fluffy LDL that’s high? And that’s not so bad? Can anyone tell me if this is a correct assumption? It’s the total LDL particles, and the non-HDL particles that are high. I’m trying to figure out if this is a presume to be OK in the keto world, or should I be worried.?
    LDL- C direct is 189
    I am no longer pre-diabetic. A-1 C is 5.2, Fasting blood sugar is good, fasting insulin Is super low.

    Interesting study! my husband is one of those Skinny with high LDL. He had put on Simvastatin 12 years ago to lower it down, since then, he has severe side effects from the drug, and can't even walk around the house these days.     What IF high LDL with low triglycerides and high HDL is NORMAL? What if all our current reference ranges are whacked by metabolically ill patients?
    I had a fasting insulin drawn because it had never been run before and my brother had died of diabetes complications. I had been low fat, plant based and calorie restricted for 40 years to avoid diabetes (and had a mild fatty liver). Now I knew I was insulin resistant and on my way to pre diabetes. So 6 months after switching to a ketovore diet I had my blood work done. The reference range was over 15.5 is bad, under that and you’re ok?!?!
    Well that’s a reference range obviously calculated on an entirely diabetic population. That’s all the MDs look at, the reference range.
    Research revealed I wanted mine under 6 and I was 4.3.
    My triglycerides to HDL ratio was 0.75 so I was happy. Plant based triglycerides had been as high as 162 in past. Currently 56. Am I convinced that my LDL of 193 and cholesterol of 279 are dangerous? quite frankly Scarlet…not really.
    My MD offered statins which he knew I’d refuse and even to fractionate the LDL to see if it was ‘good’. Politely refused.
    I Figured the red meat, eggs and butter will cure me and if not at least I’d die happily satisfied with my food intake for the first time in 40!years not to mention my weight which is back to my high school weight when I was fit and trim. 🍳 40 pounds lighter, my joint pain is gone, I am sleeping well, have lots of energy and elevated mood~didn’t realize I’d been depressed on plants…
    I think we need cholesterol to function mentally and physically. Statins kill. Slowly and insidiously the pharmaceutical companies are poisoning (some) of us. Off my reference range soap box.

    3 mos on low carb) = HDL = 98 . . . LDL/calc 171 . . . Triglycerides 58 . . . Chol/HDL Ratio = 2.9 . . . Total Chol = 284
    3 mos. before low carb = HDL = 76 . . . LDL/calc 114 . . . Triglycerides 52 . . . Chol/HDL Ratio = 2.7 . . . Total Chol = 203
    My Doctor will want to put me on statins due to the spike in cholesterol even though I have perfect ratios and low Triglycerides.
    Went on low carb to reverse 5.8 blood sugar (Prediabetes) . . . . now 5.7 (it is moving in the right direction with low carbs)

    If the ApoB protein is damaged by glycosylation and oxidation (making the small-particle LDL, "remnants?") and subsequently NOT recognized by the receptors on the liver for reuptake, will it still be recognized and quantified on a blood test?

    Mine went crazy high on low carb diet. LDL average of 95 went up to 209 , and cholesterol went up from 225 to 286 in 2 months. Doctor wants me on STATIN, i ask for a nutritionist and i want to fix this without medication at all costs. I lost some body fat and gained muscle in the last 4 months. im 5'8" 196LBS. Before i was 210 LBS.

    Whilst my LDL is sky high at 421… my HDL is 65 and triglycerides are 79… thus I don’t fit the guidelines for hyper responder??? This makes me worry an confused!!

    Please help me understand… my PCP as of this past week insists the labs no longer do any kind of fractionated lipid panels to determine the LDL types - so he won’t order it. My LDL as only 1 number (259) is a number he always wants to prescribe a statin which he well knows I call a scam. How do I find the truth regarding labs & fractionated LDL? I’ve been on my keto & IF journey just over 4 years & gotten off 17Rx three years now. My metabolic markers are great for the 68 year old I am. Today is 1/8/23.

    I did carnivore for a few months, I got a little sick of meats so I got off carnivore, I gained back the 14 pounds I lost, and my cholesterol is a little high, I want to go back on the diet but I'm a little nervous because of the 145 total cholesterol, triglycerides 108, and HDL 54 LDL 71.       Look up videos by Doctors Eric Berg, Rob Cywes, Ken Berry, Paul Mason, and Nadir Ali on the subject of cholesterol. (Suggest also looking up what they say about statins)
      They all say the same thing. A low carb, high fat diet works, and the increase in LDL is entire normal and is NOT a cause for concern.
      I am 67, somewhat physically active. Was diagnosed as pre-diabetic 2 years ago. Spent a year doing what Mayo Clinic, WebMD and others said to do, and got worse.
      Then spent a year doing low carb high fat. Lost 30 lbs, cut blood pressure medication in half (so far) triglycerides dropped from 128 to 70. HDL up from 48 to 63. VLDL (remnant) a very respectable 14, down from 26.
      HOMA-IR was 3.23, now 1.14. Ratio of triglycerides to HDL has gone from “concerning” range to “will probably live forever”. VLDL was “definite problem” now “optimal”.
      LDL has increased from 96 to 137, but the above-referenced info very clearly shows why that is completely normal and NOT a cause for concern

    Even as a full blown fat burner, my TG a little too high to qualify. Last LDL was 280, total C 380. Have had real low LDL in the past when I was fat and eating crap with TG over 300 and A1C 7.5ish. Is Dave trying to say I am at risk?

      I have read lots of stories like this. Are you still in fat loss mode? TG seems to normalize about three months after you stop losing weight and eat at your new maintenance calories.

I just did my blood work and got the following results: Total cholesterol 392 LDL 311 Triglycerides 69 HDL 67 and Fasting Blood glucose level 74.. Now my big concern is how did I get high Total cholesterol and high LDL while all the others are perfect? Someone please help me to better understand..

    Update to this video is that they have enrolled 70 participants underwent initial testing. Average diet length 4 yearsv(i think). Initial imaging shows suprisingly low amount of plaque given supposed exposure time....one year data will be very interesting.

      Get off the statins, use garlic tablets, drink hibiscus tea, take flushing Niacin, exercise daily, and eat low carb. I did this and type 2 diabetes disappeared, bp came way down, digestive problems gone, no headaches, no muscle weakness.....the side of statins account for too many people over 60 using a walker.

    Cholesterol numbers could be a marker of a risk factor for CVD, but what causing it? May me before "treating" cholesterol it would be more reasonable to check for example thyroid?

    On Keto for 9 mths lost 45 pounds have developed a rash red and itchy on chest. Why is this happening?

    I"m doing KETO for over TWO YEARS now, Question.... It is bad my total cholesterol? - TOTAL: 427, the LDL 328, my doctor
    is panicked when he sees my result, he want to give me Statins! My
    TRIG: 102, GLUCOSE: 87, A1C: 5.3, KETONES: 1+ ( Anybody undestant my
    result?, thank you!)

    No matter what I eat -- or don't eat -- my triglycerides are always through the roof. They only way I can rein them in is take 1000 mg of niacin a day. My HDLs are always low regardless of diet. LDL and Cholesterol is not an issue. My LP little a is rock bottom.

    My LDL and TC skyrockets (LDL way over 300) when I'm on pure keto. And I'm not quite a LMHR - HDL of 75 and TG of 30. I'm APOE 3/4 but switching out SFA in favor of MUFAs didn't make any difference. Having two kids, not willing to risk the keto diet, so I eat legumes to lower the HDL a bit.
    But I think the single most important thing is exercise. My lipid numbers are terrible when I don't exercise for a few months.

      How is the keto diet a "risk" when you're eating real food on keto? How can that be a risk?? (Legumes can be highly inflammatory in many people). And you want your HDL to be higher, not lower but your triglyceride to HDL ratio is much more important than total cholesterol, btw. Watch Dr. David Diamond's videos on cholesterol. Good luck!

      @@andyandcallie Pure keto raises my cholesterol. So does low carb, but not as much. Cholesterol is widely considered to be a risk factor for heart disease. I'm well aware of this little corner of the internet that disagrees, but then there is another (hopefully different?) corner of the Internet that who disagree with masks and vaccines, too. Anti-science contrarians aren't always right. Dave is getting this study which will hopefully have good results, but right now - who can say for certain?
      And properly cooked legumes are not "highly inflammatory". Say what you want about vegetarianism, but right now it has a lot of longevity science on its side. Try maintaining a skeptical outlook.

      @@aquamarine99911 As I mentioned, watch Dr. Diamond's videos on cholesterol. Statins are VERY dangerous. In fact, studies show that the higher your total cholesterol, the longer you live. He shows you the studies. Again, as I mentioned, legumes are highly inflammatory in MANY people--not all. Maybe you're one of those who is not affected by the toxins--who knows? Anyway, yes, we'll see what his study says but as far as vegetarianism or veganism goes, I've seen only epidemiological studies, which mean absolutely nothing. They can't prove causation and are conducted in a way that's laughable. But we all have to follow our own path. If you believe that veggies, fruits and grains are good for you and high cholesterol is bad, like the ADA, AHA, AMA and big pharma says, then have at it. But show me another diet besides keto or carnivore that cures T2 diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis and puts all your biomarkers in the right place. You can't argue with lab results.

      Your TG/HDL ratio is less than 0.5! That is outstanding. Put your numbers into any of the major cvd risk calculators and you'll see that you're in the bottom risk category.
