Would have made about as much sense as the Blutz wave cannon Bluma invents in GT. Or Goku using the Earth as an artificial moon in GT. GT had a lot of issues.
Please picture my idea of how this movie could’ve been perfect. Different breeds of werewolves, all types/shapes/sizes. Some people who had a brief exposure to the super moon could’ve been half transformed & looking creepy and disturbing. Have groups of people who either worship being werewolves or werewolve slayers who actually get some licks in before going out like a boss. But who knows, maybe someone will make the movie I hoped for before viewing this. Once again…Dog Soldiers is a kickass werewolf movie.
It’s not as bad as Martin says, I don’t know why he rated it higher/lower than that “thriller” movie where a racist white granny graphically defecates herself to death because she was doing that to gaslight her black daughter in law. Like, at least Werewolves had marketing that was honest about what it is, rather than try to disguise a misguided and kinda dumb social drama as an inventive and tense thriller.
Salem’s Lot (1978) and the Strain both did a good job with the vampire contagion scenario. Always thought it’d be cool if the same was done with werewolves. They can infect people and that infection could go viral. What would that be like? Then I saw Werewolves. Based on this movie, that concept is now a hard pass and a must miss for me.
I think it really depends on execution and how you do it. This movie was a good example of not doing it the right way it’s still a cool concept, but everything comes down to how you execute it
I’m hearing wolfeman is superb, INCREDIBLE EVEN, potential film of the year, and the trailer supports that, yes werewolves is a flop but wolfman seems like a serious film and you have no clue
The most damning evidence to me that they didn't know they were supposed to be making something fun is how often the second a wolf suit is around they strobe light the shit out of you like a bad haunted house. If they had the confidence to do the action while letting you see the suits, the charm level would be way up
I literally just finished it last night, it was that bad that it took 3 sittings. But one thing i do know, i need to get steroids when im 59, dude is ripped!
