It's not symbolistic I think, but it does make a really good natural contrast and it sets Varian up in a unique position to understand her and try to convince her
I love how Varian insinuating that Cassandra is being a villain is kind of what sets her off. Like many people who have done awful, awful things, she justifies it to herself, and in this situation there is some justification for her actions. Her mother abandoned her, she was put upon and underestimated by her adoptive father, Razpunel (although unintentionally) was condescending and unappreciative to her.... the list goes on but she has been metaphorically shit on over and over. She doesn’t see herself as the villain and I think that’s important, she’s settling the score, she’s “taking what she deserves” as it were, and I think that explains why she doesn’t spiral into full on villainy. If she wanted to, she could impale Varian without a second thought, or drop him out of her castle. She doesn’t want to hurt people, she’s just wants respect, recognition and what due to her. She’s not being cruel for the sake of being cruel, she’s doing it because she has been denied so much for so long
@@daviddugger5510 Technically she was being manipulated, not possessed. She was still very much… conscious as it were and we do see her bicker with Zhan Tiri, *a lot*

Cassandra: "Is that what you think I am?" He was ready to accept that what he was doing was wrong. He knew that the whole time. But Cass? Cassandra was SOOOO CLOSE to being redeemed in "Once a Handmaiden..." but a misunderstanding caused by Zhan Tiri caused this to fail. She redeemed in Plus est en Vous, just like I had a feeling about! She broke down and apologized. Still, both when a villain and when redeemed, you can't help but feel Cassandra's pain. She is heartbroken and depressed, having been cast aside for Rapunzel by her evil mother.
But why did she have to try to take the Sundrop? And why did the moonstone have to be taken out? If it weren't for Zhan Tiri, Cass could have totally kept the moonstone and used it to help others! If Zhan Tiri, or a similar demon, comes back, I hope that Cassandra doesn't fall for it!
@@nicholasdaisyawesomeness1291 I don't think anyone could take the sundrop because Rapunzels power doesn't come from the sundrop from a thing like Cassandras from the moonstone Rapunzel is the sundrop itself as was stated by Varian in Season 1 and Adira in Season 2 and I think Zhan Tiri shouldn't have been able to take the sundrop
But WHY? Rapunzel spent 18 years being psychologically bullied by Gothel, she wasn't allowed out of the tower, wasn't allowed to have a life. In contrast, Cass was raised by the Captain, a flawed but ultimately good man who clearly loved her very much. So much, in fact, that he retired rather than ever be put in a position to hurt her. She seems to also have led a life that was way happier than Rapunzel's over those 18 years. I understand what you're saying, but although I agree she was depressed, she was also prideful, unreasonable, with a skewed and selfish view of the people around her. This song is so beautiful and breaks my heart because smol Varian had a huge crush on her and now he’s just desperately trying to stop her from doing something she’ll regret because he cares so much. Their bond matured to a Big Sister-Little Brother relationship, and it’s even more sad because he’s 16, a KID, trying to make sure one of his heroes Cassandra, at 24, doesn’t turn away from the light because he believes in her so much and doesn’t want her to make his mistakes and ugh I have so many feelinhs
She was though, I think? Varian was reactionary, and driven by desperation. Cassandra was proactive, and driven (at least on the surface) by ambition. Like she said, she knew her path was dark but she thought she knew where her path would end and felt that her fate was something that she had deliberately chosen. Cassandra's approach like that could have been much healthier and likely to succeed I think. But neither of them really wanted what they were doing, so they both failed, and both of them ended up trying very hard to do their things by hurting other people, so they were still bad.

That "now I have nothing left to loose" at the end implying her destroying the friendship between her and Varian was the only thing she had left to loose 💔💔💔
This song really shows what I've always said: No-one is the villain in their story. That why I dont like it when people in shows say stuff like "We're the bad guys" because they wouldn't see themselves as villains, in their minds, the protagonists are the villains.
That I am the bad guy, or you can consider me the bad guy can work really well for some sort of anti-hero, who wants to be seen that way so there is no need for justification, or taking the blame for someone else. But it needs a good execution
I didn't realize this before, but what's really interesting is that Varian acknowledged that he was a villain while Cass still hadn't realized that. Even in Varian's main villain song, "Ready As I'll Ever Be" he straight up says "I'm the bad guy, that's fine". "You lost your nerve, you lost the game" oh way to make varian feel worse cass i feel like that hit way to close to home- varian still feels guilt about what he did, not to mention he had a crush on cass at one point(maybe even still did at this point) and to hear that from someone he trusted and liked is heartbreaking to me.
I randomly came across this scene last year and it was so good it made me to watch the whole show just to see how the characters got to this point. Still so good.
i like to imagine during this song that Varian was still saying these things because of the truth serum, meaning that he meant every word he said to Cass ❤
Jeremy Jordan is one of the best tenors on Broadway. In case you've been watching TTS on Disney+, he was Tony nominated for originating the lead of Jack Kelly in Newsies (the musical), which you can find on there. Also, just search his name on RUclips if you haven't already. There's tons of good material and he makes an excellent Disney princess.
I knew Cass could be redeemed, all this time. But why did it HAVE to end with Zhan Tiri manipulating Cassandra to the point of her trying to take the Sundrop and have the moonstone taken out? Even when she tries to kill Rapunzel, you can see the regret in her eyes... she's angry. I'm glad she's redeemed, but still, hopefully Zhan Tiri NEVER comes back! I do want to see a spin-off series, though, where Cassandra tries to find her own destiny!
Although I don't agree with all Cassandra's actions and decisions she is still my favorite character, she is just the most relatable.I really feel bad for cass.
This song makes me feel a way I’ve never felt before. It’s comforting and insanely gorgeous and makes my brain shatter then get put back together. My heart melts every time I hear these lyrics. I feel so warm inside when listening to this yet I still get the chills. Every single lyric gets better and better every single second. My favorite part? Well, I feel like a lot of people will agree with me on this. “YOUVE LOST YOUR GRIP AND LOST YOUR MIND, (I’m not gonna looseeeeeee!) ALLS NOT LOST DONT BE SO BLIND! (I REFUSE!!) cut your losses, drop- THE IOUS! (I REFUSE) every time I hear this song I feel like my eardrums fall apart and die and then get reincarnated as a magical pony princess floating on mars with not a worry to worry about at all. My soul bleeds a golden drippy goo that floats up through my nostrils out my ears, and into my device, causing my body to explode and get numb. Everything disappears when listening to this. My brain erases everything possible and fills it in with this song, the bounce, the movement, the heartwarming with a side of heart shattering. The lyrics are gorgeous. What makes it even better, is the fact varian is using his past as a reference and trying to convince Cassandra that what she’s doing will break her down and make her lose everything. This song is one of the many reasons varian is my favorite character. When I listen to this I feel as if my soul is lifting up and grabbing the universe and spitting joy and confusion and hope all around the Milky Way. This song is like a fresh, warm, gooey chocolate cookie. When I listen to this I have the need and urge to walk up to Eden Espinosa and Jeremy Jordan and thank them for letting the juice of these lyrics get inserted into my ears. Nothing exists anymore. NOTHING.
Varian: “Cass, trust me, becoming the villain isn’t the answer!” Cassandra: “Is that what you think I am?” Also her: “the path I’m on is a path paint in black” Still thinks she isn’t the villain
I can totally see somebody sing to me Varian's part of this song. Games have proved to me I'm no hero. From other people's perspective, I would be the villain. But if that title is enough to describe me...well, I think I'm the only one who can eventually answer that question.
I think this might be the one dsney show where I am in love with all of the main characters, they could all literally try to kill me and I would thank them
What if “Let It Go” was actually like this? What if Hans was actually Elsa’s childhood friend, and he came back to Arendelle to see her get crowned, only for her to turn evil and run?
When two people jinx, it's a sign of good friendship. Therefore, Cassandra is still allies with Rapunzel and Varian, and everyone else in her heart, but her anger has corrupted her. She even protects Rapunzel during "A Tale of Two Sisters", unfortunately, she traps Rapunzel in there, but probably does not intend her to die, but rather, intended to keep her in there until she was calm enough to make amends with her. It's Disney, so she ends up surviving. Characters' morals in this show can be quite complicated. I don't think Cassandra expected the poison to come out again, considering they were so far from it.
There’s a glitch with the subtitles in this song when subtitles are turned on while watching this song and this is acttually a subtle hint at Cassandra’s redemption. If you listen super closely and look closely at Cassandra’s mouth movement, you’ll see that Cassandra says “I *choose* no tears and lose no sleep”, with the “choose” strongly implying she has remorse.

i feel like that hit way to close to home- varian still feels guilt about what he did, not to mention he had a crush on cass at one point(maybe even still did at this point) and to hear that from someone he trusted and liked is heartbreaking to me.
The fact she didn't want to fight him since,at the end of the day he's still a child, but she still ended up risking his life.
better listen cassandra revenge is the first step of villain 101
I love this so much.☺️ It’s beautiful, dark and melancholy.
I randomly came across this scene last year and it was so good it made me to watch the whole show just to see how the characters got to this point. Still so good.
Rewatching this series..and bro I forgot how good this song was.💀
Varian has a beautiful voice 😭😭🥺🥺🥺
My opinion just as you
I've been getting this song in my head lately! It's such a good song!
i like to imagine during this song that Varian was still saying these things because of the truth serum, meaning that he meant every word he said to Cass ❤
This show continues to RIP my heart out.
My favorite song ever!
I wish my parents argue like this 😂😍
💀💀💀
Hahahahaha 😂😂😂
Me too
I wish mine wouldn't argue...
Imagine parents arguing by singing lmao I can't
Who is that guy singing, because he is crushing it!!! 👏👏👏😍
@@Chazzy18 Thank you 😊🌺
Chazzy Eden Espinosa (Cass) is from broadway too, as Indina Menzel’s understudy.
@@annacheeseman3481 hes also a great Jenna from Waitress
JEREMY JORDAN MY FRIEND
2:18 omg this is perfect
I just wanna give varian and her a hug like ✋

I Love This Song From Tangled
Just comparing this to ready as I'll ever be and while the performances are fine there, my god are they so much more powerful here.
I’m making a animatic with this song and it looks good for my first ever animatic
I’ve never watched this but I love the music so I’m going to check it out
Someone liked this comment while I was watching the show
I’ve finished the show
I knew Cass could be redeemed, all this time.
☹️
NOTHING.
i try to sing both cass and varian at a time lol
same lol

Varian: “Cass, trust me, becoming the villain isn’t the answer!”
Cassandra: “Is that what you think I am?”
Also her: “the path I’m on is a path paint in black”
Still thinks she isn’t the villain
Pffft
literally kidnaps a minor
@@malachiomeletoe4320 literally almost kills a minor
I can totally see somebody sing to me Varian's part of this song. Games have proved to me I'm no hero. From other people's perspective, I would be the villain. But if that title is enough to describe me...well, I think I'm the only one who can eventually answer that question.
Now I have...nothing...left...to lose...
I can see Riku and Aqua singing this
Kingdom hearts:the musical
I need this animatic/animation right now
You know what? I can see this as well!
Omg Yass!
I need this now.
What?
That will be a better movie. A lot better
Oooohh what a twist
Honestly it would have made me like Elsa a lot more not gonna lie
And also Hans cause the I personally dislike the villain twist a lot
It will be the worst movie then
When two people jinx, it's a sign of good friendship.
Wishful thinking. She trapped Rapunzel in there after thinking she kept the mirror from her. She was obviously not trying to make amends.
Still one of my most favourite songs
Cass could literally murder all of Corona and still be my favorite character 🙃
The way that Cassandra things remind me of Elsa from frozen!
She was Idina Menzel's understudy in Wicked!

Their voice OMG 🤩
My bipolar disorder arguing over how to deal with my trauma be like:
I live the "Now I have nothing left to lose", because, in my interpretation, seems like she is talking about him.
damn this boy gotta get on broadway with that powerful singing :D
I know your comment was a year ago but he was actually the main character on a Broadway musical called Newsies
He also played Light in the official death note the musical broadway studio album
i kinda have crush on varian because of this and i am melted by his voice.
They rlly knew what they were doing casting people from broadway.
The chills😌
While I was singing along with Cassandra I really felt the emotions😭😭
Idk why Varian is so adorable
i am obsessed with this song ever since i heard it
I love this song too much. My heart is broken for cass😢. But i also love varian and his voice too much. I am obsessed with him . He is giving cass some good advices❤
Haven't seen the show but I Love Cassandra just by watching this video
I listened to this song after 2 years. Then I felt something crawling on my skin. I thought it was a bug, but it were goosebumps.
DAAMN VARIAN’S VA WENT ALL OUT-
Both: You can't stop the turning of the screws!
Wow this is really good editing I love the way how you put the pictures in with the lyrics and I love this songs it’s one of my favourites
VARIAN IS 14 AND CASSANDRA IS 24. IF YOU WATCH THE SHOW, LET THAT SINK IN. WTF
He is probably about 16 here and Cassandra is 24.
