I remember hearing this when I was 15 and thinking that I was going to achieve so much by the time I was the age Jesus was when he got nailed. Now I am that age, I'm still listening to this song, and haven't really achieved anything, but this song rocks!
Spoke to Bic Hayes last night. He was performing with ZOFF in Worthing. A nice chap, softly spoken, guitar hero of mine since his days in CARDIACS. He still aces it!
This reminds me of driving to Glastonbury around 99. I think this was released on a Melody Maker compilation around that time. I still have it somewhere. Oh..nostalgia...
Thinking why the hell didn't they support them?...Muse probably weren't allowed to have them opening for them.. they'd have blown them off stage each night
I was 17 when this came out, and the line “Jesus was my age when he got nailed” has bizarrely stuck in my mind ever since. I worked with a guy who had something of a messiah complex and was very apprehensive about turning 33.
I've watched this old Later compilation - something like "Later Rocks" or "Later Louder". How this wasn't on it I don't know! Saw them live at Leeds Festival - they were amazing!
Funnily enough I played this to my daughter and she said he sounds like Brian Molko. Another coincidence is Brian and Bic both use the Marshall 6100 head

Why this band wasn’t huge I’ll never know! Wow, what an intense performance. ❤
New 'lost' album on bandcamp
too heavy for mainstream, too bland for metal.

Lucky you!
Oh yeah? I havn't seen Bic in a lot of years. We were bass players with The Dave Howard Singers, at different times. I hope he's well.
20/20 sound is the best lost album
Oh for those brilliant 90s guitar bands. Still playing this album and its still fresh. Thanks for uploading wish there was more.
Best band Ive ever seen live!
Wonderful, love the energy of Dark Star, thanks for sharing.
Bic Hayes: such a cutie 😍. Dark Star: great music 🤩

Weird how Muse caught on but these guys didn't. Great sound, super talented noise makers.

The last great band of the 20th Century.

The best one note solo ever, and an amazing song from a band that split up way too soon.
Loved watching Dark Star live miss em!
Absolute killer band ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
These should have been ....massive!!
They are massive for us (and a small group of others.....).
This is Just Brilliant!! Cheers for putting it on..I really needed to see this again... Great!!

Placebo already had two albums recorded by the time this came out.
Amazing
Nice one mate, i originally had both tracks up together before i lost my old account here.
I Am The Sun / About 3am (Later 7.5.99)
great guitar play
I saw this lot live around this time but for the life of me cannot remember who they were supporting... Anyone? It was not the Bluetones
Brilliant band! How come they didn't make it?
same reason as loads of bands... wrong place wrong time
Underrated.
very nice
@wysedragonfly i saw both those glastonbury sets too, amazing! new songs on the other stage which we never got to hear again :(
Early muse😆I saw them live support bluetones once
dark star were levitation minus terry bickers though weren't they?
Dark Star came out of Levitation. I saw Levitation years ago supporting The Cardiacs. Classic stuff. yep, execs, labels, new groups etc. it happens.
Who was the drummer for these!? He was mega
Brilliant band
Mick Dickinson saw them live in London when I was 22 years old they were amazing
Didn't overstay their welcome. In fact, I shoved them off the ruddy door mat!
Are Dark Star still together.?? Are they still making albums.??
griffspeed No. Ended in 2001.
jesus was my age, when he got nailed.....say no more
ahh me too. Still not bad considering I've never heard this band before.
Should have been bigger than Muse...
When the show was good
I might have this on video somewhere
Do you think you might have this on video somewhere?
THE FUCK
Never heard them before. Hey now.
hehe, me to
Dark Star I Am the Sun? I thought that he said he was of the night.
Wat, is this Porcupine Tree? (Well, Porcupine Tree came later, but whatever)
You mean they were around (much) earlier
Crowded House you mean?
this guy so totally started lesbian haircuts
Repetitive minimal twang, posher punk. I miss this from the late nineties.
