It might be worth adding that 1967 was the first model year for the T100R Daytona Super Sports. This '68 has the updated Amal concentric carbs, as opposed to the older-gen monobloc carbs of the '67. The Daytona name is based on the Buddy Elmore win at the Daytona 200 in 1966. The following year, Gary Nixon won the 200 on a Triumph 500, as well as the Grand National championship.
A friend nearby has a red 500 Daytona and it is like new, he hasn't ridden it in this century. The Triumph shop in my small town had 2 new ones and I know the fellows who bought them; but instead of buying a Triumph 500 in 1973 I bought a Yamaha RD350; always wanted a Triumph and own 3 of them now along with an Enfield INT650.
Wow what an amazing room and what a beautiful bike 👍 I do hope they let you do a ride and review on some. Have you done a walk-round a 200 tiger cub trials? I bought one back in March that was kinda barn found and was restored in 2017, a friend of mine bought it and had it restored and turn out it had never been registered for Rd use so triumph had to come and check it out and give him the certificate then dvla had to check it out to give him registration and an old school number plate. Anyway after a few years I was working on his house and he said he was going to sell it and I fell in love with her, she is so cool and small and with a high up straight through pipe she's so load, I went to bike night on the seafront near me and got a lot of attention and just such cool classic. No speedo or rev clock and you have to take your foot off the peg to reach the gear change, apparently the trial ones were like that. I've been told that they were very popular in the states and known as the baby bonnie. Every time I take her out a guy in his 70 or 80's said they had one. One guy asked to sit on it (he's 83) and he looked in deap thought and concentration, I took a pic and sent it to his wife titled "the new Steve McQueen". Turns out it does just make me smile but makes a lot of people happy too. Cool classics
I'd love to ride some of these bikes. I'll work on that. They do have a tiger cub T20 but I don't think it's a trials. Am planning a video on it soon...unless it sells before I get to it. Love this magic back room. Wahoo!
Hi mate, I have a ‘72 Daytona that is an almost carbon copy of that maroon ‘72 you showed in your video. Is there any chance of a couple of photos of that bike?
I just took a whole slew of pictures of that bike. I cannot add them to this text I will try to put them in the community section of the Forgotten motorcycles RUclips page. I'll attach those this evening when I get home. Was there any shot in particular that you needed?
@@forgottenmotorcycles thanks mate I really appreciate it. I’d like to see the paint on the front mud guard and a side view of the bike if possible. Thanks again!
@@chrislye8912 good morning, I just posted five pictures of that Daytona on the community tab of the Forgotten motorcycles RUclips page. Hope those get to you if not you'll have to send me an email or something. If you need better pictures of a particular part please let me know.
Show room looks like Heaven. A pity the Daytona has an appetite for valves & guides, otherwise a lovely bike. @ 390lbs. compared to close to 500 for the Kawasaki W800, how is a modern bike with more alloy 25% heavier?

Just got a 1970 T 100 R with 6800 miles all original except mirror
Just started to go through it.
A thing I could sell my soul for.
