The last time my ex-husband had some backhanded comment designed to control the length of my hair, I cut it into a pixie. “I’m just kidding” is a gaslighting tactic. His goal is to play on your insecurities and plant a seed of concern: If I cut my hair, he won’t find me attractive. That kind of shit will keep a person spinning for years. Someone down there said that abuse comes in many forms. She is so right.
Just keep these comments in the back of your mind. File them away, and remember them. Everybody who left one wants to see you happy.

Me too! I bet it has that gummy feeling when it's wet. I was doing a ladies hair for the first time. I asked if she had any recent bleach or color treatment. She assured me she had not so I continued with the bleaching. When I rinsed it was gummy an breaking off. I had to cut her hair into a pixie. I was pissed that she lied to me an mortified that people were going to know I did that. I was so upset over it that I quit coloring hair at my shop. I think it gave me PTSD.

*from apex to a parting behind the ear, not infront
    * when cutting front ponytail place it at an angle, not straight down
    * back ponytail cut holding it at a front diagonal angle not forward.

I wasn't trying to make her feel bad, in fact, I was trying to make her feel better when I said how fast it will grow back. Any chemical you put on your hair has an effect on its condition. Many permanent hair dyes use three components: ammonia (NH3), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and p-phenylenediamine or something very similar to it.

Hair is dead cells, not alive. You have to be gentle because it's like a piece of clothing you wear every day. It will show wear and tear over time and the results of all that you do to style it/dye/bleach, etc.
(Anyone who would leave you for a hair style doesn't really care about you. It's like leaving your partner if he grew a beard. You might have an opinion on how it looks, but it's just hair.)

Chi Silk or bio silk light should be your best friend right now! Silk contains 17 of the 19 amino acids that are in the hair and it holds 3 xs it’s weight in water (so keeps the moisture in). There is also bio silk balm conditioner.

There's no way some of the damage I've seen should have been able to be restored by anything, but after a few olaplex treatments it went from sad and lifeless to winning!!

I am glad you cut a good length of your hair. This way it's less of a burden. Use coconut oil on your ends and any dry area to seal the cuticle. When you do use coconut oil. It looked awful just laying ugly flat and too long. I decided it couldn't look much worse so I went for it. After the cut I turned it upside down and applied some gel and scrunched it. Great on the cut, it turned out really good, but girl get some olaplex on that hair asap if you want to start repairing it lol!! Really pay attention to the process and directions of the system though, so you don't overload your hair with too much protein or too much moisture, as both can further weaken the hair 😁

    • @amymbeauty8765
      @amymbeauty8765 Год назад +4

Also more unasked for advice lol, but try switching to a good wide toothed comb and heat protectant when styling, and if you can avoid it, NEVER brush your hair when it's wet and that damaged, as it will cause alot more breakage, because hair is weakest when wet. Just to help avoid further pieces snapping off when possible. Air dry or low heat blow until dry, then comb. (I know, over processed hair takes FOREVER to dry lol, but trust me it helps so much not to over stretch and stress the hair.) Again, the cut turned out great on you, and I think I need that curler in my life asap lol!

Just a suggestion, your hair looks really flat at the top, pick a color and stick with it on your whole head. Doesn't matter what he wants, he's a narcissist you should get away from him anyway. Mine wanted me to have long black hair, I did it for him like a dummy, and when he was done with me he moved on to somebody else that had long black hair. I'm sticking with my natural color now cuz I don't have time to dye it and I don't care.

Very Charlies Angels circa 2000! The reality is that hair is a long journey and learning experience. I can't count the number of times over the years that I damaged my hair either experimenting or by accident. But we learn and it grows back. A few tips on how to avoid damage if we can: 1) lifting hair more than 3 levels at a time is always likely to cause severe damage (using 40 or 50 volume to do it is even worse with lightener), 2) chemical re-texturizers (curly perms, straight perms, keratin, hair botox, relaxers, thermal reconditioning, texturizers) always have the potential to damage hair or alter texture or color in ways we don't want or expect, 4) High heat styling even with heat protectant and too often (400 degrees and higher) depending on your hair type always has the potential to damage, weaken and over-dry hair which will make it break off, 5) Improper shampooing (bad shampoos, too frequently, not conditioning after) always has the potential to over-alkalize hair (hair is on the acid side of the ph scale), dry it out and make it break off, and finally 6) Combining any or all of these will increase the potential for damage, breakage, texture or color alteration a great deal. Olaplex or other bond builders, protein treatments, and conditioning treatments can only repair so much. Once hair is pushed past a certain point there will be no coming back from that, and no treatment can do anything to restore the hair to a healthy state at that point. The only remedy is a haircut. Great alternatives for texture or color changes are wigs and extensions, and they are also a great way to try something before you commit as hair health is the most important thing. This all being said, everyone should always do what they want to do with their hair for whatever reason they feel they should and it's no ones business. Just be prepared to accept the consequences and remember it will grow back if you need to cut it 🙂

Seriously if your hair breaks that easy you should have shoulder length or pixie cut get as much of the damage hair off so it has a better chance of you not going bald that scared me, but it seems ok as your brushing an styling it. Praying for you

You need to put good protein and good moisturizer into your hair. And don't be blow drying and hot iron and curling your hair it's only damaging your hair even more.

@@AprilG another good combo that worked wonders for me is the Redken Extreme anti-snap leave in spray/ Redken Lamellar Water, Heals & Repair, For Bleached Hair,/ Joico K-PAK Deep Penetrating Reconstructor.
The first two are protein treatments. But it is imperative, I mean you absolutely MUST follow any protein treatment with a decent moisturising hair mask or rich conditioner or it will leave your hair more brittle than before. Protein is essential for repair but it needs to be accompanied by moisture. The Joico is amazing for actually going into your hair instead of sitting on top. Highly recommend. It saved me from chopping off 14 inches!! Also, Kerastase shampoo and conditioner are fab for maintaining your condition between treatments. Pricey. But you get what you pay for.

She warned me that if it happened again she would cut my hair. Well I ended up with a shag.😩 I think this cut reminds me of the Farrah Faucet style.

I see a lot of women saying that they would never let a man tell them anything or they would leave. If my husband told me to not do something I would do what he said. I married him for a reason and he has never made any bad decisions in our life. It’s crazy to me that women think it’s toxic if men have any standards for women but my god I hear women bitch constantly about their husbands and tell them what to do all the time. Which is completely acceptable apparently but lord forbid a person’s husband has any standards at all.
Btw this isn’t to the post. He was obviously joking with her. It’s more the comments.

I have never cut may hair that forces me a style it. I had shag cut once back in the 70's and NEVER again. It looked like a hay stack unless it was curled. Pain in the ass, always having to mess with it.. Since then, I've kept it 1 to 2 layered long lengths so when it dries on its own it still looks good. I don't have to use products and appliances on it.

I just ran across your video because my sister-in-law used to cut her own hair doing a method similar to this. When I saw how damaged your hair was I just wanted to suggest you watch Die Hard Barbie on RUclips. She is so funny and she has very damaged hair because she constantly bleaches it but she uses a product called Aphagee, I know that is not spelled right but she swears by it and says her hair would not be near as healthy as what it is if it wasn’t for that product. You should definitely go watch her.
