'Unlawful': Republicans to legally challenge replacement of Joe Biden

- US House Speaker Mike Johnson has warned Republicans would legally challenge the replacement of Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket for the November 5 election.
Johnson made the remarks during an interview on ABC's 'This Week' on Sunday - before President Biden had officially dropped out of the race.
Johnson observed that state laws govern elections and switching candidates could face major legal obstacles.
"These elections are handled at the state level. Every state has its own system," he said.
"In some of these, it's not possible to simply just switch out a candidate who has been chosen through the democratic, small D, democratic process over such a long period of time."
"14 million Democrats voted to make Joe Biden the nominee.
"So it would be wrong and I think unlawful in accordance to some of these states' rules for a handful of people to go in a backroom and switch it out because they don't like the candidate any longer."
President Biden dropped his reelection bid on Sunday, amid intensifying opposition within his own Democratic Party, and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's candidate against Republican Donald Trump.
They switched Biden out because Trump lived.
Now I'm beginning to see the twisted web the Dems do weave. They thought if Trump was out, the Republicans wouldn't have someone to step up to take his place because the campaign monies were all tied in his name and illegal to transfer to someone else.

Ya I dug into this a little yesterday and this seems to be illegal. I don't even think if he stepped down from being president that they can replace him because the primary has chosen him. If I'm right the VP would take over until January and they would just swear in his opponent. Not even sure RFK can even make it on the ballot in every state because he is having issues in some states. Only time will tell but I'm sure the Republicans will be digging into all the legality of this.

This has kind of been my question all along. How do you reconcile not having a primary process? Even if it isn't a legal issue (what if your candidate dies during the primaries, can you replace him then? Obviously yes. So there must be some mechanism to allow replacing), it still becomes republican ad fuel "the opposition wasn't even voted in. They were selected. Look who is undermining the democratic process."

The Republican Party is the only party that has officially put forth their party nominees for president and vice president. They have to win the delegate votes at the Party Convention. Neither of them have been offered the official party nominee status. Neither of them have accepted the official party nomination. Neither of them have signed the official papers as proof they are the Democratic Party nominees. Nothing is official until the close of the Party convention.

The parties do choose their candidates. The parties use primaries to see who is popular. It non binding. The point of the convention is for the party delegates to vote for an official party candidate. The winner there can choose to accept the nomination or pass. If they choose to accept they sign the party papers, then they are the official party candidate. That’s how it works.

The reality is, Biden's episodic dementia was plain to see as early as 2020 before he was even elected. Every Democrat and mainstream media pundit witnessed these episodes, yet almost all turned a blind eye for the duration of his campaign, the duration of his presidency, and indeed through the 2024 "primary" such as it was. Rarely did virtually any mainstream Democrat voice opposition to Biden, despite his obvious and worsening condition. Indeed, the recent pressure for him to step down has had little to do with his incapacity to serve (which had already been apparent for years), but everything to do with the fact that his horrific debate performance left him virtually no chance of winning, and would likely drag many down-ballot Democrats down with him.
