Thanks for posting. I really appreciate the honest, no thrills content. You've really changed my perspective on SMP. I'm going in for a consultation next week. Fuck it.
Im getting a consultation friday, and your videos were the biggest contributor to my decision. Its nice to see SMP work so well on a white guy like myself.
Looks good man! Make sure you get the right practitioner! Details are everything & the right touch! And DONT go too dark! If you’re in the USA go to Scalp Logic, ask for Joe( he’s the second longest guy doing this in the USA). He was trained by the guy who started the SMP movement!
Thank you 😊 I'm UK based. Yes thankfully my SMP artist colour matches with my existing hair and just like any tattoos I've had (even though it's a different ink), the pigment fades slightly within a month and looks less black, and blends in with the existing hair. I consider myself lucky, as I've seen some horror stories online from some parts of the world.
Yes I was just whizzing around quick for the purpose of the video but I tend to go slightly slower and get every hair evenly and it does a great job within a few minutes 🙂
Thank you, yes I agree. It's naturally blended and looks better right now. I imagine in another 2 years or so I may need to consider looking at a quick top up. I'll continue to document the changes 😊👍
I have to agree. A strong spotlight can make it almost invisible. But for the short length of time I'm standing underneath a light as bright, it doesn't bother me. I have a shaved head 100% of the time, so the occasional time under a light doesn't bother me. It did at first, I was conscious of it, but as time has gone on, it's all good.
Hi Matt great video and fantastic results, can you please provide me with some aditional information regarding what clinic did you use and we're? I am 100% interested.
Hi, thank you. I went to Follicle Illusion, which was in Castleford but the lady called Jo who owns it has moved the studio to Wakefield now. I did a video of the process when I first had it done >> ruclips.net/video/D7HX9Btn3j4/видео.htmlsi=M4WjayHQd45LsFWg
Thank you, I just use L'Oréal Men Expert moisturiser every time I get out of the shower each day. I use Nivea face wash, and because sometimes I can get a little eczema on my cheeks when run down, I will sometimes lightly use a face scrub wash from Simple or Neutrogena. Nothing particular out of the ordinary, I drink a lot of water to stay hydrated for regular singing so maybe that helps ☺️
I am going to star my journey with SMP next month and your videos have been very useful, thank you! I do have a question thou, did the package you got includes "retouching" certain areas?
I booked for 3 sessions but there was a little area I wasn't 100% happy with my SMP artist was very happy to book me in for a 4th session at no extra cost to tweak that area. I'm not sure if all SMP companies are the same, you would need to speak with them during your consultation to confirm these details. I would recommend ensuring this is confirmed in writing / email before you proceed. Hope you get some great results 🙂
Hi, sometimes I use anti-shine / matte moisturiser. However, I find that applying aftershave balm after a wet razor shave keeps it looking it's best without having a shiny head. You can't avoid it fully, as at the end of the day, it's a bald head. But barely noticeable to most unless you're stood under a ridiculously bright spotlight. I was a little conscious of it at first but now I don't really think about it 😊👍
Close up it doesn't look as good after 4 days. I don't think the camera picks it up perfectly, but my existing hair grows quickly and it's thick so it begins to look a little odd if I don't keep on top of it. But I was shaving my head very regularly even before the SMP 😊 The shaver is just a generic one from Amazon, there a lot of them, all have a similar performance within the £25-35 price range. > amzn.to/3SyL64M I did have a Remington one but I've managed to break it recently so I'll be looking for a higher end skull shaver again soon.
Hi, it was done by a lady called Jo Taylor at Follicle Illusion which is now based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK. - I recently had her on as a guest on my podcast to talk about SMP >> ruclips.net/video/fRfnbzFQfds/видео.htmlsi=u2qdli0NgATBBL7i
Hello, it can work to add density to thinning hair. I personally think it's more effective on a full shaved head. If the hair continues to thin, you would need to add further SMP to those areas otherwise you would have patches.
Hello, I had it done with Follicle Illusion, originally based in Castleford at the time, but now based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. I made a video of my experience with all the pros and cons >> ruclips.net/video/D7HX9Btn3j4/видео.htmlsi=BspqmgzEDMU43UjE
I have a bit of a dip in my head there so it makes it look separated from my existing hairline, but I am due a top up (happening soon with a video update).
It's definitely nerve racking. I do user the shaver slower, but for the purpose of the video I was just demonstrating quickly otherwise it would just be a video of me shaving my head 😅
I was extremely nervous, I'm surprised I managed to do it as I am regularly anxious and a huge overthinker. As long as you do your research on the specific artist before pulling the trigger 👌
Have a good discussion with the Smp Artist that you like. Look at there pictures & make sure that they look exactly like the clinic they were taken in. Check experience, qualifications & what other courses/knowledge they have. It's a big step so you have to do your research well 👍😎
It's coming up to 3 years in August 2024 and it's faded down a little. But I wanted it to, as it looks more natural now than it did when it was first done in my opinion. I will either have a top up at the end of this year, or possibly consider it next year depending on how it looks ☺️
It's just following the remaining traces of my natural hairline. The crown area has SMP there but it I purposely let my hair grow out on the back and sides for this video, when it's shaved fully it blends in 😊👍
It varies in each country, area and company. I had this done in 3 sessions for £1200 in West Yorkshire, England. But you can pay thousands with some companies. It's important to do plenty of research on the SMP artist's work to ensure it's the right level of work to meet your expectations.
What if someone kidnaps you or you end up in the hospital or prison how are you gonna maintain that smp? That's why I won't get one I'm not trying to be worried about my smp during life emergencies
People in prisons and hospitals still have haircuts. Although in all those circumstances, my SMP and other other factors of my image would be the least of my worries 😆

@@MattBlackUKour results are similar color wise i had mine for 2 years too imma do my touch up sometime next year I don't want to go too dark.

Also, you go super fast. I take my time with the trimmers. Takes me about 4-5 minutes but I go over it with the blade angled, nice and slow

Smp looks amazing in the right lighting. I really hate how it looks with overhead lighting.

I think it looks better after time. It looks more natural
I agree 😊
How do you care for it? Do you mosturise it everyday? I have heard of no shine cream which helps with having no shine. But it has no spf

Reckon the smp looks even better after 3-4 days no shaving. More real.

I just use fragrance free aftershave balm like Nivea men after shaving my head and it seems to be pretty kind to my skin!

Hi Matt great video. I'm up for The English Beauty Industry Awards 2023 /Yorkshire. I'm a finalist 😀😁

Ive used the remington but it takes me down to skin, so i don’t understand how after using it it blends with the top?!

Is your hairline asymetrical by design? It kinda slopes. Also, did you choose not to have any SMP on your 'bald spot' area?
It's just following the remaining traces of my natural hairline. The crown area has SMP there but it I purposely let my hair grow out on the back and sides for this video, when it's shaved fully it blends in 😊👍
