This guy would have been great for carnival cruise commercials !
He was a schoolteacher 😂
What are the plans to keep the filter feeding and nps organisms alive? I don’t want to be critical, but I feel like this system isn’t viable long term:
- wild type mollies can easily reach 3-4”, a trio in a 15g is a pretty heavy biolode. The gulf pipe will reach 7” if it can get enough food to last that long.
- flame scallops have a painfully low survival rate; even in nps tanks with heavy feeding most just waste away. An organism that is beautiful, but usually condemned to a slow and cruel death in aquaria.
- heavy feeding needed to support all the nps gorgs would foul the water quickly and with regularity.
- Mithrax crabs will turn to predation with lack of algae to graze on.
Again, I don’t want to be critical, but am concerned that this video may be misleading. Even if the community of organisms were able to coexist in such a small tank long term, the consistent feeding and high volumes of water exchanges required would surpass the ability of the average aquarist. Just my two cents.
Need a dedicated channel for 100% captive bred fishes/corals.
This tank is gorgeous and I'd love to do a similar build as my first tank! Is there any way we could get an update on how the tank is doing a year later?
My favorite reef the Caribbean 😍.
Greetings from Italy .
I love Algaebarn. Last order I got from them (Macroalgaes), I got Aiptasia. It's been a fun time.
everyone has aiptasia, and every tank gets them at some point.
@@TattooedDancer91 Yeah except I take precautions to make sure I don't get them. The one time I didn't. got it from them. They pride themselves in pest free algae.
Encrusting ball sponge is the worst name for anything that ive ever heard.
It will be very interesting to see how the sponges, NPS and scallops fare in this small tank.
Why what do they usually require? Them red scallops look cool. Never seen them before. Do they do well in a normal reef lps tank
@@peterpoop Because they are all non-photosynthetic, they require a lot of the right kind of food. This tends to either result in them starving, or the tank becoming eutrophic and overrun with nuisance algae. Perhaps things have advanced since I last had sponges and NPS coral, which is why it will be interesting to see.
@@ScaleTrainStation ah ok thanks for the info
Dead within a few weeks. This is just the youtube version of “Tanked” 🤣
Yes the first one and the first comment 🤟🤟❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👑👑💥💥💥🔥🔥
How about a tank update? I started a Macro tank inspired by this about a year ago, lets just say it didn't go as planned.
I'd love to see a snowflake eel biome.
Since I'm making a tank macoalgae tank just for my snowflake eel
this guy brings good vibes
Pretty crazy setup. A lot of things in this tank I’ve never seen before👍🏼 I take it the seahorse tank isn’t up and running anymore?
Beautiful tank Matthew! Will u there be updates? I wonder whether it is possible to have long-term success with this type of tank.
The mesh on the weir is a great idea! Wish I would have thought of that before I lost my pistol shrimp and goby!!
why the activated carbon continuously?
Is there any update on the Caribbean Sea tank?
I think having an open corner in the screen top for the mangroves would make removal of the screen much, much easier than having to thread the mangroves through the feeding portal every time you remove it, to say nothing of their expected growth...
So detailed. Looks awesome!
This tank is so beautiful. In love with it, Matthew. I have to ask. Do you still have those red and yellow gorgonians non-photosynthetic? I know they are hard to keep. This tank has given me so many ideas now after i get my first saltwater tank set up. Thanks for all that you do. Great information in your videos.
This is what I am creating! I don’t know why the video didn’t show up for me at the beginning but I am soooo into pipefish and gorgonians
Awesome Video!! When I treat my tank with Chemiclean. I know to remove my carbon and throw a air stone into the tank for more oxygen :). Matt will the Chemiclean kill my beneficial bacteria… and how many water changes will I need to do after a few days of treatment?
Without the mangrove, do you reckon this tank with all other algae and live stock as doable with a kessil a80? one word to describe this video..inspirational. Thank you 🙏
I ran a similar macro tank for some time and I would say the Sun kessil a80 would be doable for a small footprint 10 gallon tank like this. Honestly, an AI Prime is overkill if you're just running a mostly white spectrum anyway. Freshwater lighting will get you further for cheaper. I Used a twinstar 600e over mine to great success(my tank was a shallow lagoon so a single a80 would've been too little). I now run a Smat Farms g5 v2 over my 25 Lagoon which is a fantastic light for the price.
Incredible Matthew - now I want one!
What type of salt water fish are all good to put in that style of tank stock?
Google
That is a beautiful tank 😍
That looks great!
Been waiting !!!!!!
Beautiful setup!
Hey, just wondering if for a 60 inch peninsula mixed reef tank should I get 2 reefbreeders photon v2 plus 50 inch or should I get one photon v2 plus 50 and and 2 reefbreeders lumen bars? It will be a mixed reef but I do have plans on turning it into a sps dominated tank. Please let me know, thank you!
Why not utilize the Google machine?
@@Cosigner22 I’m sorry, I don’t remember asking you.
I started with one 50” fixture and it’s good for the moment. When my sps start to shade out the lower parts of the tank I might add some bars, but until then it’s a little overkill
@@noahhess3700 hey, thanks for the reply! Just one question, how does the shimmer look? Is it too static? I was hoping you could tell me please. That is the only reason I am not sure if I should get these lights.
@@abyankabir1910 They have decent shimmer! It isn't the crazy shimmer that Kessils have, but I actually prefer the look as it is present but not distracting.
Mollies get way to big for a tank of that size.
So many species in here that aren't going to last very long... porifera sp. and flame scallops, nps gorgonians?
Amazing production quality. Very detailed. Beautiful tank. I love it!
Do you still have your seahorse tank? Would be good to get some tank updates for your other tanks. 👍
Love this tank and would definitely like to try one like this in the future
As a Floridian, the intro had me soo triggered 😩
Never heard a steel drum hum though lol
When you try to put on a fake smile, you get this disgusting grimace. Why do you keep trying to fake a smile? Did someone tell you that if you fake a smile and try to talk, it will attract an audience? You've been duped.
Absolutely fascinating, cant wait to spend the time to make one
This one is cool. I love that BioTopes are starting to bleed there way into reefing.
Great to see your back I had lost all hope when I did not see any new videos. Thank you as always your informative and honest.
Matthew's videos are regularly posted on the Bulk Reef Supply - Saltwater Aquariums channel.
Using that Sands a good way to kill your fish too don’t use it
LMAO... How's that? I've used it on most of my tanks.
Oof, that is a lot of livestock in that little tank.
