      @@desirelabelle2199Its possible that the sry gene in your Y chromosome was lost and because of that that instead of y , the x chromosome got activated. so you might have a XY chromosome yet devoloped as a female. or there might be a change in dna splitting which may result in XXY chromosome.

    • @supermariopixelman3010

      Yes but any other DNA that’s not the Y chromosome or the mitochondria will just get more diluted with other DNA due to recombination.

    • @kalam518
      @kalam518 3 года назад

      What I mean is - daughter is XX. One of the X comes from mother. The other X comes from father? I understand she doesn’t have the Y which is considered to be the ‘family trait’, but can’t her X from father also be traced back?

    • @supermariopixelman3010
      @supermariopixelman3010 3 года назад +4

      @@kalam518 Individuals inherit 50% of their autosomal DNA from each of their parents. Although autosomal DNA (as well as the sex X chromosome) provides information about close relatives and ancestry percentage estimates, it is often difficult to trace one’s ancestral lineage much further back in time. This is because before a parent passes down DNA to their children, the pairs of homologous chromosomes go through a series of random exchanges of DNA fragments. This process is known as recombination. This means that the farther back in time you go, the less DNA you share with your ancestors. In contrast, sequencing mtDNA and Y-DNA can allow one to learn about deep ancestral lineages because mtDNA and Y-DNA do not undergo recombination before they are passed down from parent to child.
      Today, next-generation DNA sequencing can be used to determine every base of mtDNA and Y-DNA. This generates a much more complete picture of their evolutionary history.

      She could trace her father through her paternal grandmother who carries the exact copy of the X chromosome that the girls father passed on to her. The x chromosome that a man inherits from his biological mother is passed on to his daughter completely the same. Why? Because chromosomes from males (either x or y) do not recombine and thus are passed on in the original form years and years.

      That makes sense only if you are looking from Patriarchal perspecive. It makes no sense from Mother's perspective. And mothers do make up 50% of 'people'. So, when you say lots of people, you mean lots among 50%..
      Besides, The man also has an X chromosome and the girl (ann) also inherited X, and that X has good chance of being in the offspring too. In fact, higher chance if a daughter is born. So lineage doesn't have to be only thru Y.
