Night Ranger is one of those quintessential 80's bands. They have a lot of good songs. most are more rockin' and up tempo than this one. "Don't Tell Me You Love Me," "Sing Me Away", "You Can Still Rock in America" and "Sentimental Streets" (is kind of in the vein of this one) are a great starter pack. This was actually a big hit for them about 15 years before this movie came out. Also, they are still around and touring.
This song was so huge when I was in high school and we did lots of "motoring." Small towns like where I grew up (population 1,000) in the eighties there was nothing else to do. Most of us lived out of town. 3 channels on TV was so you had. But we had FM radio to save our souls. And our junky cars and pickups. And a mainstreet and town square paved with old bricks.
This is an incredible movie. It captured the essence of the subject matter so well and the cast is exceptional. Paul Thomas Anderson is a genius. I went down that rabbit hole and am still trying to find my way out. 🐇
This song came out in 84. It was about their drummers little sister coming of age and advising her to hold on to her virginity. Sadly thier only big hit. I never saw them live though. But ghe build up is a steering wheel banger, if you know you know. Just like a certain Phil Collins song.
KNIGHT RANGER: "Sing Me Away" "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" "You Can Still Rock In America" "Sentimental Street" "Four In The Morning" I'm sure I forgot a couple. (Edit) Ha! I forgot, "Goodbye" "When You Close Your Eyes"
This song is written by the drummer about his sister Christy. he and his parents were concerned that the guys were no longer going to treat her like a little girl because she was becoming a teenager and the hormones were kicking in.
Oh yay, I requested this one (& probably others too), and I'm so glad you reacted to it. I was 19 when this came out in 1983, and it is now what I deem one of the most quintessential '80's anthems. I'm glad you liked it too. It's been on my playlist since I've had one! -Joni
Seen night ranger at the Dothan civic center in Dothan Alabama. Sometime in the 80s.. did you no that the drummer does the singing on sister Christian.
Hi Angela. Great reaction, as always. I saw Night Ranger in concert twice. They sounded great live. I remember one song, in particular, that, to me, actually sounded better live than it did on the album. The song is “Seven Wishes”, from the album by the same name. It may have been because it was the opening song, I don’t know, but I sure sounded good from the center balcony.
@@DayOneReacts I totally agree. Should've been a number one hit. Back in the day, it was so popular and all over the radio. I love your reaction to this song and yes indeed, it's a banger!
This song is from 1984 and is completely of that exact moment in time. Boogie Nights is a movie taking place in the 1970's but from the perspective of like 1998. Whoever thought this song was good for the movie's soundtrack has no musical sense at all
Night Ranger is a quasi super group formed in our birthplace, San Francisco 🌁 I remember when each member was in different bands before they formed Night Ranger. Alan "Fitz" Gerald was in Montrose, the Bay Area group that had Sammy Hagar and Denny Carmassi, who later joined Heart ❤. AG, Brad Gillis, Jeff Watson and Kelly Keagy were in Alameda All Stars with the late Gregg Allman. BG and KK were also in Rubicon, where they met Jack Blades. These 3, AG and JW came together and formed Night Ranger 🌙 40 years ago 🎂, Randy Rhodes died in a plane accident 😢 Bernie Torme was hired but was a bad fit. BG played ▶️ a few dates. But Ozzy and Sharon Osborne mistreated BG. Thus, he returned to Night Ranger 🌙 Sister Christian. Written and sung by Kelly Keagy. Drummer 🥁 This is about his sister Kristi. I remember this. I played this on the piano 🎹 as a boy!👦 🤯 I still can! And I can sing while playing it! 🤯 Great 👍 song 🎵 of the 1980s. Suggested song 🎵 Night Ranger plays Secret of My Success. Song title matches the name of the movie 🎥
This was written by the drummer and sung behind the drum kit by the drummer. Not the lead singer. However his sister's name was actually Christy and not Christian but Christian sung easier
You should check out a band called SKID ROW the song is called I REMEMBER YOU it's a really good song Sebastian Bach has an incredible voice watch original video only
Can you do a comparison review of BOC's "Debbie Denise" vs "Beth" by Kiss (both written and sang by their drummers), also BOC's '"The Marshal Plan" vs "Juke Box Hero" by Foreigner ? Thanks.
I love Night Ranger. I really really think you'd like this one by Beth Hart and Joe Bonnamassa "I'd Rather Go Blind" ruclips.net/video/UEHwO_UEp7A/видео.html
Drummer wrote and sang this beautiful song.
MOTORING from the 80s to 2024 and beyond

and Secret of my Success. . love this band.
"quintessential 80's band" is a term that is so perfect because there's nobody who would disagree, regardless of their musical taste.😉
"When You Close Your Eyes" by NR is just as good.
Oh my my goodness, the sweetness just radiates from you🥰🤗
The drummer Kelly Keagy wrote this about his little sister who had grown up before his eyes and was going to college.
He's also the lead singer of this song.........
I didn’t know that.
And the college was university of Oregon!
Go Duck's
I think the real Christian works in an office still
Thanks for that, I’ve always wondered what the hell this song was about. Mystery solved. Oh yeah, great song by the way
First time I have heard this song and I loved it
Absolutely a FAVORITE
I saw them do this live and yes the audience was definitely hyped when it was building up at that point, great song!
This is the sweetest driving song ever

Awesome comment.
How many times did we go around the Dairy Queen.... uncountable.... haha
@@outtahere321 in our town??? Like you said, "uncountable" and always dreaming of getting the heck out of there.
This was one of my favorite songs/videos back in the day! The guitar solo is awesome!
Yes it is but many radio stations cut it out when they play this song.
This is an incredible movie. It captured the essence of the subject matter so well and the cast is exceptional. Paul Thomas Anderson is a genius. I went down that rabbit hole and am still trying to find my way out. 🐇
Love your reactions!! Easy on the eyes too
Thank you for sharing your musical journey with us Angie ✌ ❤ 🎶
They did the song The Secret of My Success for the 80's move of the same title. Awesome Movie! The song has alot of energy and totally inspirational!
gerry rafferty baker street sax brilliant should be first in line for august
God. I love this song.
Song was big when I was in 11th grade...1984!

"Bah bah bah bah bah" = "What's your price for flight?" lol
wondering if you've heard '' HIM'' by ''RUPERT HOLMES'' great tune
Guilty pleasure... Love the 70s/80s arena rock feel... And this song kinda dorkily bangs...
This song was used on a soundtrack in 1997 but the song was released in March 1984 on their second album and it was a huge hit.
The official video is awesome
Beautiful song
Oh, you are as sweet as you are silly baby girl, bless your ❤!
The scene they play this in gives me an anxiety attack !!💥🧨💥🧨💥
They had a number of good songs. You should listen to "Goodbye," "The Secret of my Success," and "You can still rock in America."
I always liked this song, but when it's used in the scenes from Boogie Nights it's awesome 😎😃
That's for sure. The movie was darkly sad, funny and in both ways tragically pathetic. it certainly was an experience.
Firecrackers in the background 🎊🎉
@@frankrizzo4460 It's OK, that's just Cosmo. He's Chinese.

Could tell you really liked this before you said anything. The smile and dancing were a dead giveaway.
Great in Boogie Nights
Hard not to see your video with this song of all and not fall into the big brother category. BEHAVE YOURSELF!! Lol
They are still out there performing
You're the Best out there. Smile
One of my favorite songs of theirs ! Thanks for your reaction !
Also a late congrats on 30k subscribers ! Well deserved !
Gods Blessings be with you !
Night Ranger one of the most underrated bands continues to make great music!! Listen to You Can Still Rock in America!! Or Don’t tell me you Love me

It's a song from 1983 in a movie released in 1997 that takes place between 1977-1984. One of my favorite movies of all time!
Motorin!...Damn now I have to watch boogie nights again. Its a master piece that never gets old.
They had 2 great guitarists in that band. In our cover band back then our guitarist liked Gillis a lot.
You got the movie right. Mark Wahlberg plays "Dirk Diggler", a fictionalized version of John Holmes
I think this song came out in 82-83ish I want to say. I remember it was one of the first videos I had ever seen.
Yes, a great song for driving. Just make sure you set the cruise control. Or you might look down during the guitar solo and realize you're doing 110!
Picturing Alfred Molina in his dressing gown while coked out of his head.
Another great song. It's definitely quintessential 80s. It peaked at #5 back in 84. And of course featured on this fabulous soundtrack later on.
Only number five? This is a banger!
@@DayOneReacts I totally agree. Should've been a number one hit. Back in the day, it was so popular and all over the radio.
I love your reaction to this song and yes indeed, it's a banger!
@@DayOneReacts That's an example of how great music was in the 80s. It wasn't easy to get a #1 song back then.
Great reaction…80s hair metal sure is fun

Great song
His sister was named Christy, but Christian had a better feel to it.

Hi Angela, you can try Night Ranger's SENTIMENTAL STREET. Is a very powerfull Rock Ballad like Sister Christian.
My ex wife was a sister Christian. Always something someone better

Great band isee ilove love song
Don't forget glass tiger . Toto . Lover boy . Foreigner . Poison . Police . Chicago.
I think these type of songs are referred to as power ballads. Still loving you by the Scorpions is another really good one.
a friend of mine claimed she was his girlfriend when he wrote this song..she said he came up with the hook for this song while taking a dump...cool
This was written by the drummer and sung behind the drum kit by the drummer. Not the lead singer.
However his sister's name was actually Christy and not Christian but Christian sung easier
Again Jerry Reed "East Bound and Down" from Smokey & The Bandit and also C.W. McCall "Convoy" from the movie Convoy.

Great song and you are so beautiful 🔥🔥
You would like the video. It's easier to follow the song.
You should react to the banger from Night Ranger called Don't Tell Me You Love Me.
The Drummer wrote it about his sister, Christy.. Christian worked better with the flow.
Awesome reaction, can you please react to Alvin Lee, the bluest blues 💙
Check out Anything You Want by Earth Wind and Fire 🔥

The other members of the band hated this song. Kelly is one of the better singing drummers around.
