My Honda Civic K Swap - Part 1: Engine Removal & Subframe Swap

I've been meaning to start my K-series swap into my 2000 Honda Civic hatchback for the longest time. Here's part one of my K-swap journey. I'm already thinking if I should go turbo. Let me know what you think in the comments section below.

Only thing I recommend is when you get your 6 speed gear box, have it rebuilt and drop some upgrades in it. The stock k series 6 speed box sucks.

Agree. All 6 speeds have synchro issues, plus most people with 6 speeds delete the clutch delay valve leading to weakened input shaft bearings

Hmm, personally I'd like to see a track focused build. Then you can compare circuit track times between your GTR and your K Swapped Civic! A friend of mine says K Swapped Honda's are the most cost effective ways to be fast

My buddy had a 93 civic dx coupe with no power steering and it wasn't bad at all to drive, just when stopped it was a lil harder but not bad. Im assuming your doing that for weight saving and power to the crank? Cant wait to see more!

weight savings, power at the crank and less clutter and fluids in the engine bay.

Thats pretty sweet, I love to see Honda projects. I'm actually thinking of picking up a DC5 Type R myself as a project before they are legal to go over to the US and get ridiculously expensive lol.

Imo the manual rack in the stock ek cx has a good feel. Obviously it doesn't have the tighter lock to lock ratio as in the integra's, but the communication of the road surface and tire grip is really good. Good luck with the k swap! I'm building a high compression b20 vtec myself for my ek.

Great video. Would love to see some time lapse video of the engine removal and clean up.
Also, those are some nice lifts that you have. What brand and model are they. Do you roll them out and mount to the garage floor when you use them? Maybe a video on using them someday! 👍🏻
