    The overseas chrono is a watch that I hope to one day own. I hope to one day own a couple Rolexes as well but if a Daytona isn't one of them, it's not the end of the world.

    Rolex is for people who want themselves to be seen as rich and/or successful whereas Overseas is for people who are rich and/or successful. Unfortunately Patek has played with it's "unreachability" Nautilus into Rolex area, a posse watch for people who need compensate for something. It's a steel sportswatch, a daily beater for someone who can afford it but constraining it artificially, just like Rolex does, it has become something that usually shows that a person tries a little too hard to be taken seriously. I suspect that for anybody who has "made it" there will be a moment where he sighs and says to himself "that's it, I can't wear Rolexes anymore, now I should show some taste". Patek is driving Nautilus fast into the same position, especially with its latest price hike. That was silly move.

      so what watch did you buy ? a VC ?

      Such a practical answer .That is obviously not the purpose of a Rolex but merely the opinion of society.Most people do not notice the Rolex or VC

    Wow!!! Ha! Ha! Ha! What a difference four years makes. He actually assumed a new Daytona would lose some value!!! And good luck buying a used Overseas 4500V for $12,000! $19,500 maybe...if you’re lucky.

    This shouldn't even be a question. Rolex is a little vulgar. Vacheron Constantin, on the other hand, is pure class.

    Boy oh boy, says 2021. You if you bought that Daytona new in 2017 you could sell it and buy three of these VC Overseas now. I don't understand why, either...

  • @Sams911
    @Sams911 Год назад +2

    Hype aside, the VC is always a better time piece... especially for me the new 4500v and 5500v overseas 3rd gens.

    Problem with the Daytona is is just too small for a man with large rests it looks ridiculously small The vacheron it's just stunning beautiful interchangeable straps and large enough for good size wrists It is perfect

    Overseas is well above Daytona in many ways.

  • @robertlulek1634

    What a difference four years makes. The new overseas model 3rd generation is way more beautiful than the Rolex Daytona. Also the Rolex Daytona is trading at an unbelievable high price now no way you're going to get a steel Daytona for $12,000. Maybe triple that

    Who in the right mind compare Rolex with Vacheron?
    They're not even in the same tier, come on!
    Rolex prices have been driven by demand/supply not the true value of them.

    Wow 12k for a new SS Daytona? Good luck finding one at retail pricing. The overseas is beautiful, but nothing holds value like a Rolex....

    The argument is a bit hypothetical,yes what would you rather have a new steel Daytona or a used vacheron the only thing is most people have to buy a steel Daytona used,it's not like you can decide your going to have the steel Daytona and decide your prepared to wait 2 3 or even 5 years for a new one from an authorised dealer the waiting list is roughly a minimum of 10 years like it or not,otherwise the only other way is to pay premium which is 8 or 9 thousand dollars over list,infact you'll get a used overseas considerably cheaper than a used dayrona,so it's an interesting but ultimately pretty pointless discussion.And really no disrespect and i arn't standing rolex's corner here but as watch connoisseurs i don't know where he's been to say a new steel Daytona will eventually lose money from retail price,this just is not true and dos'nt happen

  • @krishorst4734

    Still a great question and the answer stays the same. It's all about class. The Rolex is for the guy who doesn't know what VC is. The VC is for the gentleman who loves great timepieces.Don't get me wrong, I love Rolex! But when it comes to anything versus Vacheron.......then its Vacheron every-time for me. And the Overseas is just my grail! Sports watch that is! The perpetual in rose gold! Shivers down my spine! That's just me though, both watches are incredible though! Also, do you reckon there is anyone out there who would ask "Is that a real Vacheron?" Lol I think I might be that guy! I am SOOOO proud of you guys for choosing the VC here! Man this channel just went way up in my books!

      The 5500V is another level

    • @acmorgan8461

      I like the case shape of the 49150 way better than the 5500, plus the 5500 is quite a bit thicker as well. The quick change straps are a neat party trick for those who can't handle a screwdriver. I also like the deep luster of the 49150 blue dial vs the 5500. The 5500's blue looks uneven and the text printing I have seen leaves much to be desired. Don't know what VC changed in that process. Interesting to hear the FP Journe had his finger in the dial design of the 49150.

    I look at these two watches and it bits me why new VCO cost $17K more then Daytona 116500 rather then VC 150 years older as the watch company and less in production numbers??? The look of Daytona 116500 is more attractive in any ways to me for sure.

    "The Vacheron bought at 12(k) will hold better value than the and the Rolex (Daytona) Bought at 12(k) because the Rolex is being bought new" - Yikes, that comment didn't age well.

    • @jayceh
      @jayceh 5 лет назад

      Well, I don't agree with him, but he isn't wrong yet. A year and a bit later, the Vacheron is at $14k, and Daytona at $18-20k. But he did say short term Daytona, long term Vacheron. Could still be right.
