This is not just a USB drive issue. Latest version of Win 10 has real issues with USB in general. Had to roll back to previous ver. because USB keyboard would not work coming out of sleep. Also had issues with monitor not coming on after sleep and start up. New Windows 10 has some serious issues.
Thanks mate just tried that software and fxed issue had problem with brand new kingston 8gb flash drive im trying to use as a os install disc.ever had this problem with xp/vista/7/8 just windows 10
Thank you. After numerous attempts to fix the problem I realized I had not gone to your channel; the only one that seems to help me fix my problems. Thank you again.
As a subscriber of your channel, I looked to you for help as my PC was not seeing my USB thumb drive. Your suggestion of installing the MiniTool Partition Wizard resolved my problem and now my Lenovo PC now recognizes my flash drive. THANK YOU!
I just bought a 125 GB USB and had uploaded about 3 GB to it over the course of having it for about two weeks. It was working this morning but midway through my work, it had all the same problems that you had. I followed step by step of your video and downloaded the software you recommended but when I opened the program my USB wasn't detected as it was before. Another issue is that it claims it has no media on the other programs. I am thinking about contacting the company to get a replacement because it was not cheap and I am absolutely furious that it isn't working. Luckily I always have a backup USB for important files but still, this was a painful investment that I couldn't resolve.
Linux would repair this in seconds that's why I use an old 2GB RAM laptop with MX Linux for fixing weird partitioning and/or letter errors that I encounter using Windows 10. Also the information here is very helpful, I did not know about Mini Tool and I will try it. I had similar issues in the past and I found out that it can be a faulty or damaged USB slot because I tried another one and it worked just fine.
Good man, that tool did the trick for me. Allowed me to “wipe” the drive and then setup a partition across the whole thing so that it became usable and viewable in windows explorer. Thanks for the information, very useful!
Have fixed by just mounting or putting the drive back online in disk management. Sometimes formatting and creating new volume does the trick. No need for disk scanning and extra software. If ur creating many different boot drives with ur usb flash, this is likely to happen at some point.
I've come here with this issue in my USB device and this was the only tutorial that fix my problem. Thanks a lot for your video and for sharing your knowledge. Regards.
Thanks Brian. The last time this happened to me, I unplugged the USB Drive, rebooted the PC, and plugged the USB back in before the reboot started. It worked fine. I like seeing these other options in case next time a simple reboot doesn't work.
Very. Helpful upload. I had a very similar problem with a SSD I was using in a USB adaptor. It just vanished from the computer. But somehow I stumbled on the answer. No drive letter. Used mini partition wizard to give it a letter, and after a re boot all back to normal. Good job it did. Was my back up drive for my music collections. Thanks brian.
After 3 days of trying out every thing on RUclips to fix my corrupted usb, I solved it in 5 seconds just connecting it to my smart phone which said it is corrupted and suggested formatting it, and voila it worked again. Attached to windows it wanted to "scan and fix" as normal after connecting to android.
The last few Win10 updates since 1903 has caused serious issues with some specific USB drives. I had one perfectly good USB flash drive which could not be accessed after a Win10 update. It worked in another USB 3 port but not in the front bottom USB 3 port. All other USB drives worked in all ports and the 'bad' USB drive worked fine in two other Windows 10 systems. So the fault was with that particular Windows 10 PC (registry?). I also had Win8 on the *same PC* (dual boot) and when booted to Win8 it had no problems with the 'bad' USB flash drive in the 'bad' port. The fix was to run usbdeview from nirsoft.com and right-click - uninstall selected device. www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html. If you have problems with a USB drive on a Win10 system, do NOT assume it is a bad USB device!
Thanks brian, i tried other tutorials and they all had the letter there but it wasn’t on mine and then i realised you had the same issues and i copied exactly what u did step by step and it worked, thank you very much i had alot of photos in there
Thank you so much! i really appreciate it, helping me fix my issued USB drive. Thank you a lot for your video and for your kindness sharing your knowledge.
Thanks Brian as I have had this problem quite a few times and ended up throwing thw drive away. There still remains the problem of the drive knowingly having data on it what do you do then?
if this and all other fixes you find does not work, try using other operating system. windows 10 does disable or stop the usb from being accessed that is why it is not recognized by your pc.,i tried everything there is when it comes to fixing usb in windows 10 os and nothing worked. just try ubuntu or any linux os and thier disk manager does recognize your usb. just delete any partition that you see under your usb drive and format it for windows use and it will be fixed.
thanks for saving my usb drive sire !!! so, i am in the habbit of pulling drive out immediately without the usual process of ejecting and today it was not showing and i thought its not even 1 month and its dead. well thanks again
This the last part didnt work for me. In my case what i did is. -wipe partition -and change the letter -then boom. Even u dont restart it it will show up.. Props to you sir...
Not content related but hope you could answer. I run a macbook pro and used to run windows 7 (boot camp) years ago. If i get a legit copy of win 10 will it have bloatware on it ? I assume once a update comes along that will have bloatware attached. Thanks in advance.
I also recommend if you have HDD's that you can't see whatever you do (even with MiniTool) you boot up Ubuntu and click on try Ubuntu (or any distro for that matter) and it will magically be there :D saved me a lot of headache, that :D
Dear friend, as usual, thanks for an important video. Question: I have a usb that does not allow me to perform any operation. It tells me that it is write protected. Do you have a solution for this please. Thank you and sorry
I was having issues yesterday with a SD Card Reader and thought it was capput, Now im wondering if I am having this issue. I still think its knackered but worth a try doing this. Thanks for the video
Hi Brian! If it has happened to you and then of course it has happened to me as well, I can highly suspicion that it is a windows error!! This problem didn't crop up for me until the 1909 update had taken place! It happened to me three days ago, just right after Microsoft forced the update on to my machine regardless as to whether i was using the machine and yet my specified hours of use had been stipulated. So, it just seem to matter to "microsmarts" as to whether the end user wants their feature updates or not!! They just forcibly take control of our machines and they don't give a rat's hat about the customer period! I'm now within inches of having "microsmarts" go shove off permanently!!!
I'm only 6 minutes into the video so I'm not sure if you have mentioned it past this point but I will add what I did to fix this issue. I used a usb drive to install qubes on a separate machine then when I brought it back to my main machine it stopped showing up. I tried most things i found but using rufus to install a new os iso on it made it start showing up again for some reason. in rufus it was labeled disk 2 then got named removeable disk e after using rufus
Another problem that had cropped up was the loss of sound and so upon rebooting my laptop, the sound came back. This of course also occurred after the forced 1909 feature update.
Hi Mate. I found your video very interesting as I have an issue with my SanDisk Cruzer USB Device. Actually my issue is a bit different: when I plug it in the PC it shows among the devices for a very short time and the goes off again. This is the reason why I can't try any way to recover it. Have you ever encountered my same issue? Thanks for your attention.
I have had usb drives not show up in Windows but then I stick in a linux computer it shows up. I format the usb drive to fat32 in linux and try it again in Windows. Windows finds it and reformat it again in Windows and works fine.
One little thing you perhap's should have mentioned is when you try deleting the USB devices and HUBS in Device Manager, be VERY CAREFUL. It wont hurt your PC in any way, but it CAN be rather difficult to do anything if you delete the USB hub your USB mouse and KEYBOARD are attached to........it kinda makes navigation hard when you remove your mouse and keyboard BEFORE you finish the job your doing......." PUSH THAT OLD POWER BUTTON " hard restart, they re-install and you try something else I guess....
Hello britec09 my windows 10 pc was flickering and when I take it to the service shop they told that the motherboard was bad.also today’s video is good keep it up👍🏻
Hej Brian good video i recognize this problem I've encountered a lot of weird problems with usb sticks memory cards and external hard drives. Most of the problems i have solved with diskpart clean the disk and create new partitions. But this program MiniTool Partition Wizard simplifies things so you don't have to enter a lot of things in cmd take care Brian and have a lovely day.
This the type of nonsense I got rid of when I switched to Mac 20 years ago. It seems thing haven't gotten any better. I have been forced to return to windows because of a piece of software that I need that has never been coded for MacOS. Have wasted hours just trying to get a external 200 Gb USB drive to be seen by Windows. Yikes! Oh BTW nice job Britec09 you didn't list the link for the software tool to you as you said you would.
I have this same problem on a usb 2.0 drive I use in my car for music storage...when I put it into the pc to ad music or make changes the pc can't find it...I go to device manager and uninstall the usbs...restart and then it works again...but only for a short time...thinking it might be the flash drive as it is 3 years old and used in a car...hostile environment...hot and cold...what do you think...
Even minitool is not detecting my Sandisk flash drive. It started when I formatted the flash drive and after I formatted it, I tried copying files from my hard drive, then suddenly at the middle of the copy an error pop up(can't remember but something in the line that it can't copy and gave me option for try again, skip, quit), after that the PC won't detect the flash drive anymore. Plugged in different usb ports, rebooted, tried plugging it again in different usb ports, nothing. Doesn't show up in disk management. Can't be detected by my phone(used a adapter and it usually recognizes it, but not it can't) Downloaded and installed minitool, still nothing. Can I safely assume that the flash drive is dead? Good thing there was no important files in there and I used copy instead of cut.
Hello, I have one big problem, my usb and other usbs don't want to be displayed anywhere, only the sub devices and printers under the section are not listed, can you help me?
A pretty common problem and different reasons and fixes for this issue.
Say something about how to activate windows 10 please
George Mboyele pay for it.

Hi I had the same problem but I fixed it by temporarily turning off the antivirus - eset аnd the flash drive started working normally :)
Thanks mate just tried that software and fxed issue had problem with brand new kingston 8gb flash drive im trying to use as a os install disc.ever had this problem with xp/vista/7/8 just windows 10

Searched for hours online and gave up already. Found this randomly today and tried it: Changing the letter in Mini Tool fixed the problem. Many thanks

That surface test takes me back to Norton Disk Tools circa early 90s
what do you do if it does not show up in disk management?

The worst USB issue is Write Protection Error.
Happened few times with me. Never recovered.
Thanks,! I have the same issues, my USB is Sandisk Ultra too. I used AOMEI Partition, it works like Minitool Partition. Now problem fixed !
Have fixed by just mounting or putting the drive back online in disk management. Sometimes formatting and creating new volume does the trick. No need for disk scanning and extra software.

Brilliant bit of software. Had an issue with 2 x EMTEC 32GB USB drives and MiniTool Partition fixed the issue on both my USB drives.
Thanks Brian. The last time this happened to me, I unplugged the USB Drive, rebooted the PC, and plugged the USB back in before the reboot started. It worked fine. I like seeing these other options in case next time a simple reboot doesn't work.
Thanks for sharing
This worked perfectly for me. Thanks for the "easy" hot tip!!
Awesome, I fixed 3 usb sticks. Thanks Brian for directing me to this software tool instead of using the mostly useless Windows methods.
Using the disk part in cmd to clean the disk works for me. Thank You

You're welcome!
For me, it doesn't even show in my disk management or device manager. Is there a way for me to fix that?
Same here, could you fix it?
MAAAAAAAN IM TRYING ALL DAY ! AND ALL IS WHAT I HAD TO DO IS JUST TO CHANGE TE LETTER OF THE USB !! Thanks man, you really helped me a lot :)

It works... just install the mini tool partition software.

Minitool worked perfectly. Thanks!

finally usb is working , thank you bro
When i press right click, i don’t get a long list as yours. Please what could be the reason??
Congratulations on your 500K sub's!

You also try to use gparted under a Linux machine , sometimes it fixes stuff mini tools can’t handle too.
I have tried to solve this issue with one particular 64gb SanDisk drive. Thank you for this video. The Minitool software solved the problem. Cheers.
Glad I could help
Thanks! fixed my portable SSD issue
Thanks Brian as I have had this problem quite a few times and ended up throwing thw drive away. There still remains the problem of the drive knowingly having data on it what do you do then?
Thanks!! You are the first person to fix my issue!!
Fixing USB mass storage drivers needs step wise & sequential troubleshooting
Wow, thanks alot my usb now showing, it solved it by your video solution.
In this case the drive was not formatted, that seems to be the main issue. Always format new drives.
if this and all other fixes you find does not work, try using other operating system. windows 10 does disable or stop the usb from being accessed that is why it is not recognized by your pc.,i tried everything there is when it comes to fixing usb in windows 10 os and nothing worked. just try ubuntu or any linux os and thier disk manager does recognize your usb. just delete any partition that you see under your usb drive and format it for windows use and it will be fixed.

Very Informative. Thank You
Thank you very much, The mini tool option worked for me!
Did you have to pay for the app to execute these features?
Mine always redirects me to a payment prompt

Great informative video, as usual.
Wowoo 1st try 1st click got fixed thanks bro❤
can you use it to select some things?
slightly adapted but works on win 11 as well thanks for making the vid mate
