When I was little the local school was building an athletic park behind our house out of a former corn field. Large tractors and scrapers were used to build the park. This was in the mid 50s
Sad to say Allis is long gone. The America of even the 60's and 70's is gone. We out priced ourselves, demanded too much and lost it to countries we helped rebuild. What a shame.
Those old time operators of crawlers had to endure many hardships. Just look at the operating conditions in 1948. No ROPS, no breathing protection, no hearing protection, no eye protection, no protection from snapping cables. You were a sitting duck. But hey, most guys after WW2 were just glad to be alive.

Once upon a time in America.

I’ll bet Allis Chalmers track type tractors aren’t made in Springfield Illinois anymore.
They aren't made anywhere anymore, they were bought out by Fiat and became FiatAllis who eventually screwed them over and no longer exist.
I simply Love Allis Chalmers.
Very cool, how the times have changed, I bet life was hard back then, but I bet it was alot better than today though.
When America was great .
