    I have this jacket bought on a Quark Expedition trip to Svalbard. Mine says Arctic Expedition by the pocket and the sleeves are also lined with the fleece.

    Hi. I go back and forth between this model and the Paramount Softshell. I aim to use them as outer layer maybe with a fleece inside. My main activities are hiking, camping, rock climbing in the cold. What I'm looking for is to have a versatile softshell to use in casual activities and in somewhat extreme conditions as well. What would you recommend for me?
    Really liked your channel btw. Your reviews are helpful as they are enjoyable.

      Hi, the crew jacket is really nice, but I don't think that it's your best choice for climbing. I like it more as a casual jacket. The paramount shell is a nice shell, and I also like the Rab Kinetic Alpine 2.0, as well as the Arc'teryx Gamma lightweight. For colder conditions, the Arc'teryx Gamma MX is nice. The Rab firewall light was nice too.

    If I use it with a base layer and a midlayer under, do you think that this jacket would works in snow?

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  2 месяца назад +1

      I think that it would be good, just keep in mind that it's really not for extreme cold. It's a great multi purpose jacket, but it's not a heavy, super warm coat. It is designed as a crew jacket (sailing).

      @@Mike_Y. Good to hear that. As it is getting colder here, I've noticed that the body of the jacket is warm, but I can feel a chill on my arms, as there is no fleece lining there. But a nice fleece jacket under it works great for me.

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  3 месяца назад +1

      You would probably need a layer under it, maybe a fleece would be good. I've found that there is not much warmth in the sleeves. But still a really nice jacket.

    Thank you for this great review. Would you think this jacket is also a good fit for an outer shell when hiking/trekking? Looking for something as an Allrounder for urban/sailing/hiking.
    Thank you!

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  4 месяца назад

      Yes and no...🙂 I think that it would be a fine jacket for hiking, and with the HellyTech membrane, it will offer nice rain and wind protection. It should be a nice jacket to offer weather protection and warmth. But it's not a shell. To me it's more of a jacket. The advantage of a shell is the ability to layer under it according to the weather conditions. You can wear different combinations, lighter or heavier. With this jacket, you can wear a layer under it, but I don't think that you have a many options. Also, in severe weather, I would trust a hardshell a bit more. It just depends on your needs. It is a great jacket.

    May I ask first?
    I'm from Thailand and I want to ask if this jacket can be worn as an outer windbreaker in cold weather -10 -20 degrees Celsius. For the inner layer, wear heattech and long johns.
    I will go back and watch your video until the end. Thank you very much.

    I bought the Helly Hansen Crew Hooded Jacket 2.0 and wore it yesterday and was bloody cold, despite wearing a waffle long-sleeved t-shirt and a light Merino rollneck - I was quite surprised. Now tempted by this version with the added fleece mid layer. Any thoughts of your own on this? Thanks

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  3 месяца назад +1

      @@naturalbornphotog the non insulated version is nice, but it's more of just a shell. Without any insulation, it won't give you warmth. The mid layer insulated version is a much more substantial jacket. They fleece lining adds warmth and comfort, but it also has synthetic insulation throughout. It's a really nice jacket.
