The camera is situated about 8km southeast of the volcano. The view is looking northwest. The sound is live from the camera source.
Semeru, the highest volcano on Java (3,676m 12,060ft), and one of its most active, lies at the southern end of a volcanic massif extending north to the Tengger caldera. The steep-sided volcano, also referred to as Mahameru (Great Mountain), rises above coastal plains to the south. Gunung Semeru was constructed south of the overlapping Ajek-ajek and Jambangan calderas. A line of lake-filled maars was constructed along a N-S trend cutting through the summit, and cinder cones and lava domes occupy the eastern and NE flanks. Summit topography is complicated by the shifting of craters from NW to SE. Frequent 19th and 20th century eruptions were dominated by small-to-moderate explosions from the summit crater, with occasional lava flows and larger explosive eruptions accompanied by pyroclastic flows that have reached the lower flanks of the volcano.
This volcano is located within the Bromo Tengger Semeru-Arjuno, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve property.

Wrong volcano name it is not Mount Semeru, but Mount Ruang that is erupting since Apr 16.2024 🤨🤨🤨🤨

Indonesia has more volcanoes than any other country in the world and many of them erupt several times a year. This isn't Ruang.
This is Semeru.Nothing to do with Ruang

Very small. Not really considered an eruption.
This pretty considerate tho cause this mountain would do some violence to the people surrounding if this not happening at all times, and this eruption actually categorized into VEI 2 eruption more or less..
It small but happens every 20 till 60 minutes, it really good way of the volcano to not making big pressure in their chamber which can lead to much more violence eruption like Tambora or Rinjadi that erupted with such force, and don't let them put pressure until it become like Tengger, Batur or even Toba at VEI 9 it is that violent, it actually covers neighbouring region up to tens or even hundreds of meters of thick volcanic ash, it's pretty bad..
So this just what all volcano need to do to not blowing themselves off the entire island and dropping the global temperature to extreme degree like every other volcano in Indonesia does..
@KingFishdom. What would you call it then? A puff of smoke? Of course it is an eruption. Size does not matter.
