Chris Bosh Reacts to Playing Against Kobe Bryant's 81-Point Game

  • The NBA will never be the same. The passing of Kobe Bryant was one of the saddest days I’ve ever experienced in my life, and I think it’s more important than ever to perpetuate his message for generations to come. My thoughts, prayers, and positivity go to the Bryant family and all those lives that were affected on that devastating day. Most people don’t remember this, but I was on the wrong side of one of Kobe’s greatest performances of his career. January 22nd, 2006, we head into LA for a routine regular season game. People forget, but 3 weeks prior he dropped 60 on the Mavericks, and I’m like COME ON, how can you let that happen. It’s one guy. So we were up at halftime, and very seldom were we up at halftime on the road. Kobe’s got 26 at the half. No big deal right. We are up by double digits.. And before I knew it, the MAMBA came out. Fadeaways, steals, dunks, layups, short jumpers, long jumpers, 3’s, you name it. Staples Center was ROCKING…”Kobe! Kobe!” That walk off, the standing ovation, finger in the air, man I was so embarrassed. I’ve never spoken about outside my circle, until now. I am glad I was able to be a part of Kobe’s greatness, just for a little, even if it was on the wrong side of 81.

Chris Bosh, Bro.. you need to see this post some how some way! And reply to this man at the very least.
I'm sorry you went through any of this fr. I'm glad we draw inspiration from one another like this. Bosh seems like a really cool, down to Earth, type of guy! He's got humility and humor.. 2 extremely good qualities to have, especially in today's age! To be humble is to be human. I know its hard to let go of your ego! Especially when your extremely talented or really good at something. NTM when you great and have worked so hard to attain your skills. But remember ego is what did the Devil in.. He was narcissistic and loved himself more than anything or anyone else, including God. Alot of us have had, still have or let go of our egos. When you truly sit back and think about it.. Its actually ignorant and arrogant to argue over alot of the things we argue over! To try and prove why your right.. Or who's the best, why their the best and fight about it(in the comments)! TBH its pointless, we like who we like and fighting over it isn't accomplishing anything! Just makes us look childish and our egos keep us replying over and over! For another man's accomplishments, awards, statistics and Championships! All numbers and all pointless in the grand scheme of things. I'M GLAD I SEEN YOUR POST bc it put ALL THIS INTO PERSPECTIVE FOR ME! And maybe it will for someone else as well. I mean when you see a post like this.. It actually makes you think about what truly matters in life! I plan to steer clear from doing these types of things in the Future. I'm a Christian and I know it's not right! So from now on, I'm done putting myself into those types of arguments. We can talk sports without hating on the next man's opinion. Or going back in forth over dumb shht. Something I've done more than I'd like to admit and for what? Its pointless as well as ignorant now that I think about it. Anyways God Bless You For This Post Bro! I needed this and I hope you are doing much better today. God Bless All Of You and I hope this post effected you all they way it did me. Life is short(we've all been reminded that alot lately) But Eternity is FOREVER! Get to know JESUS and ask for FORGIVENESS! Jesus is the door to HEAVEN, remember that. And the world is different right now.. From EARTHQUAKES and all the CRAZY SHHT going on.. To this CORONAVIRUS SHHT spreading like wildfire! I believe time is SHORT.. Hopefully someone gets something from my message, as I did from his message. GOD BLESS🙏

I did some math... If Kobe's performance happened in 2019, it would have looked much different. The average team took 63 2 point shots and made 30.1 of them per game. In 2019, the average team took 57.2 and made 29.7. Kobe went 21 for 33 from 2 on the 81 point night in 2006, and if you adjusted those numbers for the modern NBA, you get 21 for 30. Doing the same with 3 pointers, the average team went 5.7 for 16 from three per game in 2006 as opposed to 11.4 for 32 in 2019. Adjusting Kobe's 7 for 13 from three to 2019 numbers, he would've gone 14 for 26. This would've broken the record for 3 point attempts in a game, which might make it sound unrealistic, but if you were on pace for an all-time scoring performance in the NBA in 2019, you'd be chucking threes like there's no tomorrow. Moving on to free throws, in 2006 the average team went 19.6 for 26.3 from the line per game, and in 2019 it fell to 17.7 for 23.1. Kobe went 18 for 20 in 2006, meaning he would've gone 16 for 18 now. To find the total amount of points he would've scored, you simply just multiply his 2 pointers made by 2, his three pointers made by 3, and you add those up along with the amount of free throws made. 21*2=42, 14*3=42, and he made 16 free throws. What do you get when you add it all up? 100. That's right, one hundred freaking points. This was truly the greatest scoring performance of all time. Rest in peace to a legend
Edit: apparently Jimy Highroller did something similar to me but i assure you that I did this without knowing that.
Edit 2: I know this isn't how it actually works, but i still think this conversion is valuable. I'm not saying that this exactly would've happened, I'm just giving Kobe's 81 point night some context. Kobe played in a different era, so I converted the stats to a more recognizable era to show how amazing of a performance this truly was for its time.

This brought so much joy to me as a Die Hard Laker/KOBE FAN. Just to relive that 81 point game from an nba players point of view ... not gonna lie it brought tears to my eyes .I remember watching this game as a youngster and I couldn't fucking believe my eyes. Kobe Bryant was the greatest player of all time! How thefuck do you score 81 points in a NBA GAME !!!!
