Do you have a favorite among all these versions or are there specific aspects that you appreciated about each model? I'm also curious to hear about your driving experiences and how you feel the Golf has developed over time. Thank you for sharing this passion with us!

I love my mk7.5. My only issue is that, as a father to be, i am concerned on adequate space.

My favorite is the MK7 version. It is the best Golf ever because it is bigger, better, and faster than before. It was packed with the latest safety features and had the classiest cabins. The new generations are beautiful, but they are not a breakthrough compared to that one. I had one.

I drive a MK5 Golf which I love so much and has never disappointed me all these years I’ve owned it. A pure Gem that’s so fun to drive and good quality too.

The Golf I was often compared to small cars like the Renault 5 and Fiat 127. The Golf II was built like a tank and weighed the same as a much smaller Suzuki Alto. The Golf III lacked in build quality since Lopez, who ruined Opel was costcutting with VW also. The IV was a lump and huge car, but it is suprisingly smaller than the latest Polo.

I have never owned a Golf, but really liked the stubby styling. In America it's hard to really find someone that can repair these babies without breaking the bank. It's sad to see a once "sensible" mode of transportation become a total video game with the interior. I thought the concept in the beginning was to build an affordable simple auto the masses wanted. Now it seems VW is following the same as other manufacturers. the VW Golf / Rabbit has strayed from it's roots.

Indeed, the Golf started as a simple, affordable car aimed at the masses and has undergone significant changes over the decades. The shift towards more high-tech interiors reflects broader industry trends where consumers are increasingly looking for technology and luxury features, even in compact cars. It’s a challenge finding specialists who can maintain and repair these newer models affordably, especially outside Europe. While it's true that the Golf has evolved from its original concept, it continues to be a popular choice for its performance and reliability.

And stupid, cost-cutting moves that undermine the reputation. The Touran having a shiny plastic oil dipstick where the shiny black oil makes it difficult to read! Or parts of my Golf's steering assembly made of plastic! But I still love my Mk4
