    I had a paid-for legit copy of CS3 and was happy with it, but then Adobe shut down their activation service and made my software unusable. They were forcing me to use their subscription model, and that was my breaking point. Adobe can go f itself.

Turned out my student plan had ended and they didn't notify me (or maybe I just didn't notice?) before starting to charge the normal price, which was 60€ extra per month. I cancelled, not knowing they would charge me the REMAINING months subscription and immediately cancel my use of Adobe the second I cancelled. I contacted, clearly anger, because I was now -$75 in my account. The person talking to me was so lifeless and didn’t care that my reason for cancelling was I couldn’t afford it. I pointed out how messed up it is to even offer that as a reason why you are cancelling and then turn around and charge the remaining months sub fee and then not even allow me to use the product when I have very clearly paid for it.
    They refunded me my money and nothing more. My partner still uses Adobe even though he owns CSP. But claims CSP isn’t the same. 🙄 He’s right. It’s better. I want to be done with that crappy shady company.

When i tell them i use affinity they look at me like a deer in headlights because they either dont know what affinity is/ its not good enough. its dumb you cant really win them over with alternatives unless they understand how bs it is

      I think that it will change over time! I worked at jobs where PS was the only thing they allow to use (because the company only have the Adobe license). At other companies I was told like "we don't care what you're using, just get the work done properly". The most hard part of all of it is to convince CEO's of the companies that it's not the only option on the market and definitely not the transparent one.
      I've actually saw a video on LMG Clips channel about how Adobe let companies to increase users number in the Adobe's company plan, BUT they use the same trick with the companies as they do with the simple users. They DON'T write ANYTHING about that if the company will need to decrease the number of users (if somebody got fired) - they just can't do it until the license of this exact user will expire within one year. So the company should pay the whole period even if nobody is using this "seat".

    I've not long started my 'career' in graphic design: Just finished the education and not yet professional in practice (i.e. earning) but professional in set-up (e.g. profile, website etc.). Having a bad experience near the end I had only the previous month renewed the annual subscription before deciding not to continue in graphic design at all, so I wanted to cancel Adobe altogether. In the live chat they were offering me several free months after they had reluctantly agree to cancel my membership with full refund. They wanted to keep my money even though my annual membership would be cancelled with 10 months still to run. So I simply argued with them and said I wanted to go to their competitor (literally using those words, so they knew why I was leaving). After about an hour of trying to sell shampoo to a bald man, they agreed the full refund and cancellation. The following week was the big "terms & conditions" story about Adobe using your images for free. It just confiemed my decision to leave graphic design, although I have calmed down and returned but bought Affinity.

      @gabrielWachong 3 месяца назад

      @@ArseniKatsela it is a scam because they offered the perpetual license, promised you would not need to buy anything else, people got it and then later they switched to a subscription model out of the blue, making the perpetual license obsolete and if you want any of the "new" features that are not new really since Adobe Animate already had most.of those features, Clip Studi was just lacking. When they moved to a subscription model, I thought that was even more of a ripoff. (Ditto for Lightroom when I got into photography) Adobe's current shenanigans are shocking, but not entirely surprising.
    I limped along with free or very cheap software: GIMP on PC and Artflow on my Samsung Tab S7+. I currently use Clip Studio Paint for Android. Yeah, it's a subscription too, but _much_ less grasping than Adobe. (What was it? Something like £20 a year? So little that I barely worry about it.) I use that for tweaking jpeg photos too, but if I ever get around to getting that laptop and pen display setup I've been thinking of, I'll probably get Affinity for editing RAW photo files.
