Pumas/cougars, not the sexy ones, and cheetahs are medium sized cats and aren't considered panthers. Ocelots, bobcats, lynxes, etc. are small wild cats. Selective pressure won't allow for it in the beige and green coloured African savannah though so it's rare to see such genes expressed.
