"A music nerds wet dream" could be the best description I have heard so far. :) Even one single 'B-side' by these ladies contains more creativity than many other bands pack into an entire album. I hope the upcoming US tour and their appearance at the Aftershock festival will give their popularity a proper boost, because as you say, they just deserve to have it. That an characterless auto-tune musician or band gets more attention from all sides just can't be right. _____________________ 「 _'Our rock never dies ever. It's nearing end of month. Your serious allotment is running out. If Corallium is precious what does that make Band-Maid? Irreplaceable, Priceless, Invaluable.🤷🏻♂️
A hot summer night, laying on the warm sand as the surf gently washes over me. In the distance I can hear a soft melody wafting over the water, gradually getting closer and closer and closer. Suddenly a huge wave appears, rushing towards the beach. I can see outlined in the full moon on the horizon, five small figures riding atop of cresting wave, the melody increases in tempo and intensity and suddenly I'm engulfed by chaos, tumbling and thrown around by the overwhelming majesty of the music. As the tide finally recedes I look around and see five sirens laughing and smiling as they return to the sea , readying their next attack the on some hapless victim.
@@glenkelley6799 Glen that is an awesome descriptive narrative that describes perfectly the emotions when you experience the Maids music. Excellently put, that man.😁👍
This cover is actually a good graphical representation of a lot of their music: a big pile of different stuff that looks confusing at first, but in which each item has a point or purpose.
@@GaryHolloway-810 Just trying to get the word flummoxed out of you today. But more likely because I laugh at all your comments (sometimes even the serious ones) and I was just being an a$$. 😊
Whimsical is a great term for some of Kanami 's parts. Band maid is kind of what happens when you mix a progressive hard rock guitarist with an alternative rock bassist, a metal drummer, and pop punk vocals.
Ahhh, Corallium! My fav of this EP is this B-side song! For an unknown reason, Band-Maid tend to have great songs in B-side. Come to think of it, Thrill is also a B-side song🤔
Thanks, Jim, always nice to listen to a reactor who grasps what's going on in Band-Maid's more recent material. Speaking of which, you might want to get songs from Unseen World (the full album released just before this EP) in rotation on your channel. Would love to get your take. All the album tracks are available on the Band-Maid official channel, and a few were also posted from live streamed events (although no audience), like Manners & Black Hole.
Their songwriting skills in 2021 are out of the charts. Between Dec 2020 and Dec 2021 they have dropped three singles (Different, About Us, Sense), one LP (Unseen World) and one acoustic LP (Christmas Okyuji). We are talking about 20 new songs (two of them instrumentals) and 14 acoustic versions with new arrangements. That 34 pieces of music are a treasure, each of them a piece of goldsmith maniacally carved to the smallest detail. How many current or past bands can boast of something remotely similar?.
Nice reaction as always Jim! I feel they have invented a whole new formula especially for the vocal works, started showing up here and there from Unseen World album, and pushed to the level of its own in this EP. Yeah, 'whimsical' may be good word to explain what they do, but it's just what Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things in next level👆
"Brutal whimsy" is BAND-MAID's new specialty. Wait until you hear 'Black Hole', that will spin you for real. Speaking of spinning, this songs sounds like a mash-up of BAND-MAID x Gacharic Spin. I love it!

Just watched your Hibana and Corallium reactions. Thanks! Problem with Band-Maid is that every song deserves an MV so there are so many songs (at least 70) that most people don’t know about or won’t know about because they are audio only.
Akane says the songs in Unseen World are "nasty." Kanami Sensei really came into her own as a songwriter. No simple copies of other styles - just pure crazy Kanami. She also creates the backing tracks with the synth, samples, and electronic stuff, and mixes the demos. And she's only 30. And the rest of them are total monsters at what THEY do. I can't wait for the next album, and the next.
Wonderland, Sayonakidori and Corallium are so different and yet all have folk element celtic/polka/middle eastern oh and warning has Japanese folk in it...anyways thanks for another awesome reaction!
Lots of cool stuff going on for sure! I would though, love to hear a version of this that is just a tiny bit slower, with a fatter guitar sound (not as thin in tone - although I know Kanami is going that way now), and lastly just a bit less business on the drums. That said, I may hear it and say, "nah, i like the original."
The last three songs you've reacted to (Sense, Spark, & Corallium) are NOT on the album. - Sense was written for an anime intro - Spark is an esports event theme song - Corallium is a filler for the Sense single... a second b-side You have much awesomeness to listen to when you finally get around to listening to tracks from the album 😎

"Music Nerd's Wet Dream" might be best description I have heard. Love this song. Takes you on a journey.
Agree!
Corallium is precious red coral. BAND-MAID create a sea of cascading melodies that wash over you. Gosh that was serious.😮

I gather that Saiki wrote the lyrics for this one, hense the different and interesting vocal arrangements.
Her first songwriting credit.

I'm a little worried that the next album will at a level that our unworthy brains will melt.
There are two other older B tracks to singles which you’ll like. These are Matchless Gum and Unfair Game with insane Kanami solo.
Kanami , destroyer of dead space. She's a genius.
This song is definitely in my top 5 Band Maid songs. It has everything.
Nice reaction. I particularly liked the slow blinking at like 5:53 where you’re trying to process the transition into the bridge. What a song.

7:46 Don't forget the rap in there. They're coming to the U.S. but playing small venues.
And think we may get to hear this live.... Can't wait ...
It isn't an "album" just a 3-song EP. But those 3 songs have more elements to them than whole albums from other bands.
Anyone got the plate of the truck that just run me over?
Sense single has 2 B sides. But my ranking is Hibana, Corallium, and finally Sense. Haha, it’s reverse.
Goulash! Crazy tasty!
