I understand that. But being an Odia who knows hindi as well I can tell you that most of the Indians who arent from Southern region will end up calling it Brihadheeswara temple even after knowing the name. Reason ?? Pervudaiyar is very hard to pronounce for Non-Tamilians. So Writing Peruvudaiyar would be fine but in normal conversation most will probably use Brihadheswara temple Lol. 😅 Just saying. BTW I love the Dravidian Arcitectural Ancient Temples of Southern India. Very beautiful. North, West, East lost a lot of Ancient temples due to the Mughals. 😢

I am very proud of Indian architect and king Raja Chola who built this but please don't forget it's all safe because of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj he and only he fought against Aurangzeb very bravely and even after his death his daughter in law Rani Tarabai also fought against Aurangzeb so we and our temples are safe today.

Temple name peru udaiyar not brahadishwar. Dont use sanskirt name, youre disgracing the temple. Whole temple built based on tamil literature. Read the history properly. Raja raja built the temple to glorify the shiva and tamil together.
Peru Udaiyar was named by Raja Raja Chola who built it Raja Rajeshwaran was named by a Pandyan king who built a meenatchi shrine in the temple And Brihadeeshwara was named by marathiyars . I wish the temple would be called as peru udaiyar kovil

This temple should be the actual 7th wonder of the world not the Taj Mahal in my opinion. Can anyone resolve this architectural mystery of this temple till today? Answer is No.
First of All Rajaraja Chozhar who is the constructor of the temple didn't mention in the inscriptions as Brihadeshwar. The actual name of the temple is 'RARAJECHARAM' or 'THANJAI PERUVUDAIYAAR KOVIL'. The name Brihadeshwar was given by Marathas (16th century)who had no connection with that temple. Don't spoil it's original name given by the builder.

Don't call it Brihadeeshwara temple, call it Peruvudaiyar temple.. It is the name given by King Raja Raja Chola..
I understand that.
But being an Odia who knows hindi as well I can tell you that most of the Indians who arent from Southern region will end up calling it Brihadheeswara temple even after knowing the name.
Reason ?? Pervudaiyar is very hard to pronounce for Non-Tamilians.
So Writing Peruvudaiyar would be fine but in normal conversation most will probably use Brihadheswara temple Lol. 😅

First of All Rajaraja Chozhar who is the constructor of the temple didn't mention in the inscriptions as Brihadeshwar. The actual name of the temple is 'RARAJECHARAM' or 'THANJAI PERUVUDAIYAAR KOVIL'. The name Brihadeshwar was given by Marathas (16th century)who had no connection with that temple. Don't spoil it's original name given by the builder.
