    I'm a big guy and the more I see of these NuCanoe setups the more I like them. I could into one, they are fairly expensive, and just paddle initially. I could get a pedal drive to get a little more fishing done or make the trip home faster. I could set it up tandem for the girls. I could spring for an Xi3 (not really that expensive it seems for what you get) and have a nice little one man bass boat. It just seems so flexible and easy to transport. Super accessible and handy. MIght have change my mind from a Sea Ghost or Shearwater to one of these. That river is so pretty I might just paddle and forget to fish.

    This video focused more on fish than trolling motor. I am going to install a Motorguide Xi3 with pinpoint gps on a sun dolphin 12' jon boat. The boat choice is for room and stability. The trolling motor because of the GPS features like anchor lock, cruise control, route recording. I fish mostly for crappie. They tend to be in bunches at certain times of the year, so when found, I can stay on a school. When they are scattered, I can troll for them and focus on fishing, and let the motor manage the boats movement. I have owned 14 boats and have learned what helps catch fish and what catches fishermen. I caught the most fish in my life wading the barrier islands along the Texas Gulf coast. Its not the boat its being able to focus on the fishing.

    Good morning..how did the front mount work in the river? Can you adjust the height for clearing rocks concerned about hitting the trolling motor..thanks for sharing..I would like to get the frontier with the trolling g moter

    • @SJOutdoors
      @SJOutdoors  4 года назад +1

      Hey Man! You'll love it! The shaft height is adjustable (Get the 36" Shaft). I place it just enough in the water to work without cavitation so it's only about 4-6" below the nose. Like always, us river rats gotta keep an eye downstream for danger and occasionally pull it completely up and paddle through. You'll notice in this video at 5:52 I decided to drift backwards in about a foot of water, troll motor did slightly touch, but not catch. I can also shift my weight the the back of the F12 to raise the nose even higher when passing shallow water. Let me know if this helps!

  • @TWC6724
    @TWC6724 4 года назад +1

    So I'm coming from a boat, and have a question about trolling motor placement. Like you, I would think the trolling motor in the front makes most sense, but notice some guys have them in the back. What advantages would that give you? I would think you can hold a better position with it in the front.

    • @SJOutdoors
      @SJOutdoors  4 года назад

      You're 100% correct. Having control from your bow is much better than the transom. I used a transom troll motor for over a year and it did the job but in wind and current the bow was alway swinging. The bow mount keeps the front of the boat faced in the right direction. Fish more, correct less.
