  • CinemaScope projection was a beautiful technique worldwide. In 1953 this was first applied with the film "The Robe"
(You can automatically translate subtitles to a language of your choice,

CinemaScope was een prachtige projectie techniek, met voor het eerst in 1953 met de film "The Robe".

I've tested those old Carl Zeiss anamorphs against modern counterparts.
They can still hold their own, put side by side, against new Isco and Schneider lenses.

According to the manual “CinemaScope” by 20Th Century Fox, the original width to height ratio was 2.55:1. It was later changed to a standard of 2.35:1 for all anamorphic or “Scope” presentations.

Great Video. Whilst "The Robe" was the first film released in Scope by 20th Fox,
"How to Marry a Millionaire" was the studio's first film to be shot in
the new CinemaScope wide-screen sound process, although it was the
second CinemaScope film released by Fox after the biblical epic film The
    Robe (also 1953).
