    Nice video. I love SD3. FYI concerning how real the bleed sounds: it’s because it IS real haha. They recorded every single microphone for every single sample they made! So when you hear snare bleed into the hihat mic, it’s because the hihat mic was recording when they got that very snare sample. So crazy. Which is also why you can individually control every one.

Sounds like you can. I work better putting things together in one place, and then transferring and processing from there. Thanks!

    Hi Alex. Great review man. I have been an Addictive Drums user since 2017, and while I am quite happy with it up to a point, in the last few months I have begun to feel the need to try something new. Watched a few videos now and Superior Drummer has really piqued my interest. I have heard folks rave about it on various forums, and then it was a big deal to learn that George Massenburg was involved in its creation. My primary thing is the quality of the sound, and I know that with him on board that side of things will be second to none. I work with an e-kit also, so the dynamics and "round robin" sample playback is important. Quite impressed with the quality of the effects too, I tend to bus out my tracks dry and work with them in my DAW currently, it would be great to be able to do more processing within the platform. The GUI does really look a treat, and the selection of kit pieces straight out of the box is staggering. Yup, I'm convinced. No nights out on the town for a while for me! All the best.

    And at 5:35 when you double click on the region you dragged in, look to the right of the drums - amount & velocity. That's basically like "Drummer" in Logic Pro. Amount will increase or decrease the complexity of that pattern (add more ghost snares etc), velocity will make it bigger or smaller. I just saw that in another video, ha.

      Hey, thanks for watching. We definitely want to do this vid ASAP, but it's actually really easy in general. Once you've got your TD30 module connected via USB (and any relevant drivers installed) just go to ' Settings > MIDI IN/E-Drums ' in SD3. They have a TON of mapping presets for different modules. Just select the TD30, make sure you have the MIDI input in SD3 set to your module, and you should be pretty much good to go. Hope that helps!

    Nice one...best video review i've watched of SD3, great work dude! And what an awesome piece of software SD3 is! One question, do you run SD3 on the internal SSD of your computer or on an external SSD? I'm thinking of purchasing a Mac Mini M1, 16g RAM, 0.5Tb SSD... and hope the 0.5TB internal SSD will be enough to run SD3 with it's full library of samples...of course together with Logic Pro and a few other programs like Premier, Photoshop... then use external SSD's to store all the sessions/media files. Thanks again fir this great review! :)

    Great video! I just got SD3 as well as Luna (DAW from UA). I'm not so much interested in preset grooves as much as I am writing them. But, I can't get my SD3 instrument track to record midi. Any suggestions? (think of Luna like any other DAW). Thanks in advance!

    • @consordini6258
      @consordini6258  4 года назад +1

      Interesting - I was intrigued by LUNA but I have a hard time with a DAW that requires a certain interface. I have a UAD card but not an Apollo or Arrow so I don't get to play, sadly. As for the MIDI issue, since I don't use LUNA I'm really not sure, sorry. If you're trying to compose a groove within SD3 and then have the MIDI in your Edit window, it won't record in a traditional sense. You'll have to export the clip from SD3 to the track in your DAW, which I'm also not sure how to do. But I'm sure there's a way. Best of luck, thanks for watching!

There's almost 500 gigs of samples in SD3 - it's really not practical for me to go through and demo all the sounds, it would take hours. The point of my reviews is not as much about sound samples, especially with something like as expansive as this. It's more about discussing features and giving my opinion of the product.

    It’s been almost 17 years of toontrack and STILL they insist on obliterating my inspiration by forcing me to search menus. Why is there no listening AI. When software drums were novel, fidgeting was fun for about 3 months. Then after YEARS of working inside the box, you cannot tolerate any scouring and brooding for rhythm solutions. I’ll shut down a project if I’m messing around with files and menus for more than 2 minutes. My patience is probably going to even get shorter in the future. Inspiration doesn’t have any forgiveness. An idea can only remain compelling for fleeting moments. If an idea cannot be gratified in moments… like working with a skilled drummer in real time, booom! The moment is dead and gone. Burn out of burn out is this redundant search for a groove… really frustrating. Literally causes physical pain. Stop. It.
