I really like this loose and abstract interpretation of the scene. As usual your logical steps are followed but the result is lively. You've helped us see how colour choice can be very flexible but still give a good sense of what's in front of you.
Nice work. Your loose style, paradoxically, possesses a high level of refinement. While I don't typically use green pigments, I am intrigued by the greens you incorporate into your art. You've inspired me to experiment with them. Do you have any tips for introducing greens onto my palette? And how do you go about selecting and narrowing down the specific greens you use?
Thank you very much! Greens are a cheat colour, because they're so easy to mix. So I look to add greens with special properties - green appetite genuine is very granulating, green gold flows on water very well, cascade green splits in washes. So basically, find a reason to add the green and then try it out
Is it me, or does that reddish bit on the left page look a little like Martin the Martian with a ray gun? 😂 Nice one as usual Toby. You’ve taken a general grey sky street and made it bright and cheery. You’ve let the light in.
Max size is A3, mostly though when you add a frame and a mount you end up with something quite large. For me watercolor is less effective when massive, so I tend to use other mediums if I'm going big

Haha brilliant
To me the red on the left looks like someone looking at their computer screen, whilst typing in a frenzy. 🤣🤣
Hi, Toby! Can you post the reference photo on your Pinterest? I’d love to be able to follow along and practice ❤ thank you for all that you do!
I keep meaning to do this for you! I'll put it back on my to do list :)
Toby - don't you ever paint something big to go on the wall? How do you go about it if you do? Btw I love what you do!
