    Been doing squats for a couple years ago. I am pushing up bigger weights in my legs. I box squat year round. Thanks to Louie for his support. I'm 48 years old recently I benched 140kg for 50 reps. I had 2 srokes and 3 angina attacks this years. I'm having angioplasty on this Sunday morning . After I recover I going to come back and squat more than before. Wish I had made a video but it's too late now as the surgery and my nervousness is tough. Good work Louie I'm going to join you in the 1000 pound club next year if my heart problem is not too bad. I did an 800 on the box this year. So stay tuned. Thanks

      This was done on a smith machine....

    • @edhollis3
      @edhollis3 9 лет назад +2

      As I said I am nursing an injury right now so the Smith Machine helps me to be able to train and not put so much stress on my body.
      Once I start training again I will do it with free weights and upload it. That way you don't get it twisted. My maximum bench without a special shirt is 600 pounds. I've been off gym for five months now. Once the cardiologist gives me the go ahead. I will start up again.
      So I will do it without a smith machine. I'm an old man I'm 50 years old. Been in gym 32 years. So when I post it I will let you know so you can be critical of that.

    @ScotteDio you can do it man, I spent 11 years in the military 5 of which in the 82nd. When I got out I was really beat up. I took some time off and started powerlifting. I'm in my late 30's now and stronger than ever.

    In the beginning it was just Louie and me that began what became Westside. I've often thought to do a sort of a graphic novel story of us and Westside and Louie's genius. Still might do it in spite of Lou's passing. My latest accomplishment was helping to create the Arnold that happens every March near Nationwide. If you build it they will come.

    you guys will notice him talking about the "soviet method" this is something that is very unknown here.I amnot kidding when i say that their sport science from the 50s and 60s is MORE than what we know right now... they have UNBELIEVEable amounts of wisdom when it comes to training (not just power lifting) that we could not even comprehend here. the kind of stuff that would blow your mind if they ever allowed that knowledge to reach the west.... louie only got the tip of the iceberg, Trust me

    thats why you should compete in a fed like ipf. and once again, they'd still squat more than you atg. have you ever noticed that no really strong raw lifters bitch about how gear ruined the sport? its always the weak ones. powerlifting is all about making yourself better, ignore what others are doing and worry about your lifts

    No more than if you were jogging 5+ miles. That's why you must accostum your joints, ligaments, and tendons to handle the pressure. Once that is done, ATG squats are so much more rewarding.

    They are European methods, yes. From the older Soviet Union and they were written by Soviet lifters and doctors. They were born in Europe whether all of the lifters use it or not, this is it's birth place.

    Problem with ATG squatting is you cannot judge it. Whats ATG for you and me is completely different then ATG for a stubby guy with fat calves and thighs.
    There is a reason they have the parallel rule in squat, to keep things fair.

  • @BulldozerJack
    @BulldozerJack 12 лет назад

    Everybody cheats nowadays where there is competition. It's all about how much money are you willing to spend to use high quality steroids not to be caught. If you want to train natural, you do it for yourself - that's the reality. It still doesn't change the fact that if you take steroids you still need a lot of work and dedication. Steroids are not a magic pill that will allow you to be strong while sitting on the couch.

  • @usapljuniors
    @usapljuniors 13 лет назад

    @bodebldr2000
    Your lifts would definitely go up. Your squats will be high. Your deadlifts won't be locked out. And eventually, you will be taking drugs. You may get stronger, but it will be at a big cost.

  • @usapljuniors
    @usapljuniors 13 лет назад

    @bodebldr2000 The form and technique are the biggest problem. Watch his guys compete and train and you'll see that for sure. All of their squats are high. We all have the same rulebook. He claims to do squats to a parallel box. Those don't happen. Deadlifts aren't locked out either. Louie is a smart guy. He's smart enough to know the difference in clean lifts and bad lifts and chooses to coach his lifters to do it the wrong way

    Never has Westside claimed to use parallel boxes. It'd widely acknowledged that they squat high in training with heavier weights and then increase their depth for competition. You clearly know nothing about Westside methods. This technique is used for multiply lifters, by the way.

    Maybe not for a spectator, but I'm sure for a guy who trains just as hard, but is unwilling to compromise his moral integrity - it does take something away from the sport. Illegal supplementation will always be a part of sport now, and I only see that as a very sad situation indeed.

    To the whole steroid debate. It's been proven you don't even have to work out on steroids and will still gain muscle. Thats how powerful these substances are. So, the whole argument saying they train hard is true, but lets be serious. If they didn't take these performance enhancing drugs. They wouldn't be anywhere near the level they're at now. Also, idc how much weight they squat. That depth is LOL! No way is that functional strength going down 5 inchs.

    if used correctly the yield MASSIVE gains. fuck the bs war on steroids, i think that is bs, but using steroids GIVES people an advantage. its fact. which is still cheating IF they are used in competitions. the openness about steroids within the sport is why the sport doesnt get the attention it deserves. in baseball and football it isnt as prevalent as in powerlifting simply because there are consequences. There are more consequence for these"powerlifters" if they DONT use steroids.
