Although I can't order the TD4 until tomorrow (when my paycheck deposit will have 'posted'), I got a number of the Hop-Up parts ordered today. I like that you mentioned "Over the Top"...not only because it's a great movie, but also because I have recently been considering getting one of the Tamiya Semi Truck kits.
Awesome vid I've got the slipper clutch and thank's to you I realized my mistake with the pinion gear as I tried the stock pinion gear and it turned quit easy and it sounded ok until it came to a stop you could hear that the pinion was wrong so I hit up Amazon and got 3 48p pinions it takes 1 day
It's a nice buggy I love mine! Don't like the plastic diff nut thing but I put a drop of CA inside mine before tighten them up so hopefully that helps, I also did the steering stops you screw in and left them out and it does turn much better.
Thanks for the tips and advice. I will be charging the battery in the car lol. I just bought a nib kit with the yellow chassis, and every upgrade tamiya makes for it. But i dont like the shocks he bought, so I will change to those that come with the df03-ms kit since i have them laying around.
Great video as always dude and I liked you highlighting the pros and cons. I prefer the look of the TD2 but at the price point of these buggies I think they should be fully functional out of the box and not needing hop ups for the diffs. Other than that please to see Tamiya doing something different and hope to get a TD2 later this year 👍🏻
Yes I like the fact that tamiya put out something new/fresh. On the flip side, not a fan of the new astute coming out. I only favor the super avante because its 4WD.
The Avante is a nice build and a real show stopper. However, you'll soon see what people mean by "over engineered" I really enjoyed the TD4 build. I'm really looking foward to having fun with it. Enjoy your Avante Build.
Did you add the front universals? I’ve seen one video where the standard dog bones fall out. This would be more likely to happen if the steering spacer is removed.
You are absolutely right. I've heard the same thing about the dog bones coming out in the front. I also can see it becoming more of a problem once those spacers come out and there is a greater range of steering. I'm going to add another foam or O-ring to the outdrives as someone in another video recommended and see if that remedies it. Maybe get it out on an open field and have some fun. But....just in case, I'll order the universals for the fronts. Have to see who has the in stock and how long it will take to arrive. Thanks for your comment and support.
I haven't ran it yet but at the moment just a tamiya torque tuned and hobby wing 1060 esc...At some point I'll sport tuned motor in it.. For our back yard track and the size of it.. sport tuned and torque tuned are enough power....
Nice Video. Been playing with this kit for about 4 weeks now and definitely has its pros & cons that are fixed with hop ups. Nice to see you went the VQS style rims like me. I’ve since changed them to DT03 deep dish and Schumacher tyres
I wouldn’t waste money on the alloy servo mounts- they make little difference as the flex is almost all in the chassis itself. I’d save it towards the universals.
What did you do with the original rims and are you going to use them on something else? And what is the other channel you still haven't answered that question?
Almost looks like a Tamiya I could buy amd enjoy... some cool engineering and if you said the plastics seem nicer that is a big step forward they should do for ALL their re-release kits... I'd have to put a battery into this one and leave it there pretty much permanently...lol Cheers
You saved me some time trying to figure out the steering problem, thanks for that tip Ari .
Man you bring some great content, keep up the nice work
Love your no nonsense and factual videos. Just returning to RC, and your videos have been helpful and informative.

Great video Ari! Very informative. I heard car runs great, but I’m still on the fence about it. Not excited about the battery situation.
Thanks - very informative. I'd say the majority of people who complain about the battery location , don't like this RC much anyway.

Hey buddy thanks for the comment. Yes I checked out your video. I really enjoyed the build and looking foward to having some fun with the TD4.
Is the pastic nut holding up with the CA? Thanks.
@@babupranav Still working 👍👍

@@RCRetro funny how they appeal to different parts of the fan base 😂 Looking forward to seeing your TD4 out on the raceway though dude 👍🏻
This is a really good video with great tips for the build. Appreciated
Great video. Thanks for all the tips and the corrections.
Interesting video! I decided to skip the diff nut and get gear diffs to replace the ball diffs as that’s an option.
still on the fence about getting this one. I did get a 2011 Avante which I will be building soon.

Can't wait to see the td4 in action.
Great video, keep it up!

I might have missed it, but what Esc/motor combo are you running?
I haven't ran it yet but at the moment just a tamiya torque tuned and hobby wing 1060 esc...At some point I'll sport tuned motor in it.. For our back yard track and the size of it.. sport tuned and torque tuned are enough power....
What is the music used in the intro? Thanks!
Id really like to know how the diffs hold up for you. As in how strong of a motor can you put in before they slip ?
Good video and heads up info.
The battery design is a no for me, but I am looking fwd to the 2wd version though I like the body of the 4wd more.
Im not into the TD4, but im into the TD2

Any wheels are better than those neon wheels. Yes I like the VQS/Egress style wheels more.
Intricate and interesting design. With such a battery changing system, I'd just charge the battery inside the car.
Was curious if some one can donate their cars to you?
Thank you for reaching out. You can reach me at Akap23@gmail.com I'm interested.... Please put in the title of the email "RC Cars" Thank you.
Hi...That would be awesome. I'm definitely interested. You can reach on our Facebook group or email me at Akap23@gmail.com Thanks

What other channel? There is no other channel. Harry, Phil, Joe and I will continue to collaborate on the RC Retro channel.
that battery install....
hahah yes the battery install.... really not that bad.
I got mine for $249 from amazon.
Oh yah free shipping

And don't forget the tc-01 with the same type of shocks but front and rear.
HELLO, YOU CAN SHOOT A PHOTO OR A VIDEO TO YOUR TRACK TO GET AN IDEA TO MAKE ONE IN MY HOUSE, THANK YOU AND GREETINGS FROM PUERTO RICO
There is a part in this video that shows us working on the track to give you an idea of the layout.

That thing does not look promising
Your wrong
This car is cool but i think there are better cars out there for the money.
Thanks for the comment. I really enjoyed the build. I see what you mean though regarding the price point.
You could also call them cantilever shocks.
Better off just charging the battering in the car
After many batterie changes, the threads are damaged. What a trash car...
There are metal 3mm nuts installed in the chassis that the screws go into. There's nothing to wear out. If there's an issue just replace the nut.
