I love how this arrangement is of the times but also the fact that the song is able to transcend generations is the mark of an excellent musical composition. Astrud Gilberto just takes it to another level.
Astrud will lead my musical life always.. I've met her 30 years ago.. (she still looks fine by the way !).. her songs are still my greatest hits... Thank you, Astrud for great happiness and joy into my life..
Astrud... the voice that settles the soul... stage presence that commands your attention ! Sinatra like performance.... So glad you took time off to enjoy life...the garden, petting the cat, diapers, humming a song.... occasionally. Getz and Joao didn't get it. Simplicity and purity often are taken for granted.... addictions, selfishness.... If I was there in 64... I would have made you my queen!
I hear ya dude, I've never heard the english version of this song myself till Ms. Astrud Gilberto sang it. I just wish didn't stop singing, the world needs her now...RIGHT NOW!!
@caho99, feelings, that's what our so called "music world" is missing now a days, great artist and great songs like this inspire us to do feel great things and do great things. Speaking of her old albums(my favorites too), I've got of her old stuff and some of her Verve greatest recordings stuff(however, I wish I had more of her albums like "Look to the Rainbow", the "Golden Japanese Album", and the famous concert album of her in New York). Guess we truly know what good music is, don't we caho?
This must be 1980s... check guitarist's rolled up sleeves and jazzy clown outfit- unless it was quite recently but the German's forced them to wear German 'fashion'. Astrud will be 70 quite soon btw. This performance is nice and has slightly bittersweet flavour
Here i resent her changing the beautiful original intro notes. "Dabadiba, ..." But anyway, almost anything of interest concerning her is off the tube. Does anyone have the telephone song for instance ? I wonder why almost no brazil singer cared to cover it
ZDF- ? German television? not bad, this sounds too jazzlike, too stylish. the bossa nova original from 60ties is definitely the best and when she ends, she says: dankeschön!

This is Astrud spreading her wings. Smooth Jazz with lively Bossa Nova Passion.
Rest In Peace Astrud Gilberto You are forever the Queen of Bossa Nova

fantastic -
i'm so late on catching on to her
but her songs are a part of my life now
Me encanta Astrud, la escucho desde niña-
Astrud always brings back my 60's memories for me effortlessly
excellent--thx for posting:)

A pretty good jazzfunk version, with a harmonically refreshing guitar solo.
Você é a melhor!!!!
Great performance...

i used to say aqua de beber when i'm drunk i need more ice cold water.
Joao & Astrud Gilberto / Aqua De Beber (아꾸아 지 베베르 : 물의 행진)
Nice to hear a different rendition of this than put the needle on the record.
luxoooooooo !!!!!!!
I LOVE HER! oops caps lock!
@NinoStackz oh really? That sounds like a real treat to listen to, he's a great jazz/pop vocalist himself! Thanks for the suggestion!
Heavily accented, just as her debut performance in "Girl from Ipanema"
Philly accent? It's where she's been for 40 plus years 😭
Aguá de beber camarada !!!!
I liked it. Must every playing of this song sound exactly like the recording on the '63 album??
@tietziano65 her father was German anyway
All of a sudden Sade doesn't sound quite so unique anymore to me. Astrud has such a haunting mellow voice that it sounds original in most every way.
love her, and the song, but this unfortunate rendition, well, i'm just glad whatever decade this came from is gone forever.

1988 in West Germany?
she is tired i see....but perfect!
Made in Brasil.

haha how about that guitar solo at the end? barf....
Astrud Gilberto, definitely Brazil's female Sinatra. I didnt like the new orchestration. Should have stayed full boss Nova.
should actually be spelt "agua de beber", in English: "drinking water"
Am i the only one who thinks this is a horrible version? Both in musical taste and performance (mainly vocally)
Think the recorded album version sounds better than this...
What's next, turning it into a steaming pile of (c)rap?
lol couldn't put it better myself. This rendition is VERY unfortunate. Words can't describe how terrible it is.
Isso for simplesmente horrivel, letra e musica destorcida e errada. Uma das melhores cancoes de nossas raizes 😞
