- African mask carving is an ancient tradition.
Artist first creates the shape. Details are carved and fine metal work is applied. Color and patina are applied to give antique look.

Do you know where in Africa this is from? I liked seeing this process and want to compare it to other traditions grind different regions.
Most here are from the West and Central African region each masks represents an ethnic group

Need help, bought an African mask but would like to know its meaning.
Well why would you buy it if you didn’t know its meaning?
Masks have all kinds of different purposes and meanings. You should as the seller many questions: where did they get the mask? Who is the artist? Is it mass produced or an original? If you can get the original artist or where it came from, you can ask them, and maybe they can tell you.
