- Hey everyone!
I was asked to play at the school soiree, so I picked the logical choice in music. Periphery! I really enjoyed performing this song, and being able to share my music taste with not only my school, but my online supporters as well! I hope you all enjoy the video! I have a lot of Periphery riffs lined up that I will post on my Instagram and Facebook account, so follow me there to see more:

The backing track was made using the Periphery III Producer pack, and my Epiphone Prophecy is going straight into a Boss Katana.
i never thought I'd see the day we'll have Periphery performed in school performances
Nor did I ha ha ha!
@@flynnedwards Well yeah, Probably because you were like 4 or 5 when the first Periphery records came out 😂
He looks like a true Djentleman.
Ha ha ha! Just need a 7 string and I'm set!
You said it...
I agree. One of us!
@@flynnedwards MKH signature Epiphone meb?
Djent doesn't exist
No one at this school knows how insanely difficult this is.
It takes some practice for sure.
Thanks for appreciating the effort that went into this! There are a few guitarists here that think what I'm doing is really cool, I'm hoping to start a band with them at some point!
For real I tried to play this learned the first like 3 riffs and just rage quit lmao
Your amazing dude!, dont let the people who dont understand Periphery bring you down!
@@flynnedwards with all of them, I’m assuming? 😆
yoooo this dude has the misha strap position so you already know it’s going to be insane
I hadn't noticed that! Funny coincidence!
Exactly
What's the Misha strap position?
Weak. I play this with my guitar strap in the James Hetfield position!
Just kidding I only know the intro/verse riff :(
By this you know what their school teaches. Math Rock.
4 dislikes?! Who the hell doesn't like to see someone young show dedication to something and be great at it? The mind boggles.....
Who knows.... ha ha ha! Thanks so much for your kind words!
The fact you can smash this live is really inspiring
Thanks!
I’m going to send this over to Spencer and the guys for you buddy. Spencer and I were just together a couple weeks ago for the Virgin Hotel opening. I’ll make sure they see this.
I don't know what to say! That would be amazing! Thanks so much!
Yeah do you, spencer and Misha chill a lot? Lol
@@bdevil6 that's awesome. You ever jam with them?
@@kitten-whisperer I haven’t, they are definitely beyond my skill level.
@@bdevil6 I'd be too afraid to even look at my guitar information of them lol. I actually have a Jackson ht6. It's a great guitar.
Wow, super impressive, man! Not only is that song really hard to play but you've practiced it enough to play it comfortably and with confidence. Great stage presence too! Massive props!
Thanks! I've certainly spent a lot of hours working on Periphery riffs over the past year and a half and I'm so happy that I can finally play it to an audience. Sometimes I struggle to have a stage presence, but with this style of music, I just naturally get into the groove of it.
Absolutely digging that "no fucks given" stage presence mate. You're probably better than some people called Mark, Misha and Jake who do passable Periphery covers.
I've seen these, they're alright. this guy's waaay better tho
those guys are funny, they make whole documentaries for their covers. film crew is pretty good though Periphery should have them record their album-making processes
Bruh, I can't even touch these guys drum parts and I've been playing for 17 years. These guys are masters of the craft. I can't imagine trying to pull that off in front of people, especially not when I was in HS. Just pure, unadulterated badass.
Thanks so much! Yeah, Periphery are absolute masters and I've determined that every song they make is just amazing!
Just work on it slowly and you’ll get it down ;)
That confidence performing. Any band would be happy to have you as a guitarist.
Thank you!
I'm 37 and been playing since I was 17 - I'd love to have someone this dedicated to play with!
Damn the kid killed it. I hope the girls lined up for you buddy
this is awesome... 1 take live on stage... very impressive... keep it up
Thank you!
that neck bobbing is sooo natural
Misha probably saw this and said "I know who to call if I need someone to tour for me".
Ha ha ha. That would be an absolute dream
@@flynnedwards time to start learning racecar dude
@@shucklesors Definitely when I get a 7 string! Racecar, Ragnarok, Hell Below and Stranger Things are definitely songs I'll learn when I get an extended range guitar! Oh don't forget Blood Eagle!
@@flynnedwards better get a 8 string for Hell Below, as the lowest string is a C#1
You mean he was like "This kid plays it better then me" the inspiration all these new age guitarists are giving our youth is unfathomable.
A sharp dressed young man playing an insanely difficult piece. As someone already said, this is how a djentleman is supposed to look like.
Hahaha thank you!
"this is epic nae nae swag" - 🅱eter
I CAN BET NOT A SINGLE SOUL EXCEPT HIM KNOW HOW HARD THIS IS
I was gonna comment "that Boss Katana doing some WORK!" but it's just amplifying your hands 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Ha ha ha! Thank you! I've managed to get tones out of that katana that I wouldn't even expect from an amp double the price, certainly some of my best gear.
Just.....WOW!!!!!
Yoo you have to be the coolest kid in every single school . First for not playing a Metallica song. Second for playing periphery ❤❤❤
jesus kid KILT it!! rocking out on that Les Paul Prophecy!!!
Ha ha ha! Thanks! Just need to grow my hair out and grow a beard!!!
Classy playing brother.
Thanks man!
non metal fans : "meh..."
metal fans : *trying to remember the patterns, some writing a tabs
The picking is what gets me. I am a solo player mainly. I am not used to these picking patterns.
So many props for doing this
You absolutely murdered this.
Thank you!
With the Boss Katana, SICK
Awesome amp!
Bro as a fellow high school djent fan this is dope as hell
This is freaking amazing, I've always wanted to see some high school kids like me playing this type of music, haven't found much, it's always some mainstream rock band cover. Absolutely banger dude, keep it up!
Thanks so much! I haven't found many either. I'm sure there are others out there
Haven’t found anyone, to the point in which I have resorted to learning bass, drums, and guitar, and recording my own music completely by myself.
*cough IRONSTONE - Hollow *cough

damn! from your first head nod, im grinning like a dork, yeah, this guys got it. fucking well done!
Thanks so much!
Metal af 🤘🏽
crushed it!
Wow. Impressive playing and confidence on stage. I can tell you've put a lot of hours into this. Well done.
Definitely. Lots of metronome practice. Thanks so much!
Just what they needed another guitarra
Hahaha so true
Oh my God I've been learning this song very slowly for a while. This is fantastic!
Thank you! Keep working on it! It's a tough song but it gets easier the more you play it!
PERIPHERY NEEDS TO SEE THIS and REACT to it
Thank you!
If they see this, I think I'd have a little fan girl moment. Misha, Mark and Jake are some of my biggest idols.
@@flynnedwards dude you shred! hope they see it
Damn dude, you killed it !!!!
my man rips it hard! well fckn done
What a DJENTLEMAN!
To pull this off live is crazy good.. Big fan of your playing
Thanks so much!
This is fucking badass my guy well done
I practiced that song for so many hours and I still can't touch this
Don't worry! Half the speed or even drop it to 40% and go up by 1% until you reach 100%. Its tedious and boring but is the best way to get a riff clean and tight at full speed.
Fantastic!!
Killed it!
Great performance
Very good job, bro. Your stage presence is even more impressive than the guitar playing. It's not the craziest song ever to play but your confidence and stage presence amp it up massively and make it much harder... that stage presence while playing a pretty challenging song are things that grown-ass adult experts struggle with (Periphery themselves lol)... and they struggle with it in full bands while playing MUCH easier songs. Spotlight was on you and you did your job. Super impressive, dude. I sincerely hope you stick to music and don't do what I did, and jump into university and forget about music as a career just because it's "unsafe" financially. You could easily join any major band in the future and live your dream if guitar is your true passion. Bravo
Impressive !!!
I'm back for a rewatch now that I'm actually sitting down and learning this song...
As my first song on guitar kek
This is what happens when a drummer tries to try something else
Great playing!
A natural in his purest form. Way to go.
Yeaaaah!
Damn, you should try to do this with Reptile, given how ridiculously good this performance was!
Definitely! I'm running a fairly light gauge ATM but I'm about to switch over to 11-56. I'll do my Reptile cover then along with a few others.
Reptile is a really fun song to play. If you use tabs, João Medeiros has a really good tab of that song, except the ridiculous 3 part dissonant harmony tapping fill just just says NOPE, written with notes.
My goal is actually to do an AAL song by the end of Year 12. Once I get a 7 string, I'll start working on it
@@flynnedwards don’t they use eight strings? They may use sevens on some songs, but I believe they use predominantly eights.
@@flynnedwards you got a 7 string?
go head king!
You can see he is enjoying it
I definitely was!
Fantastic job young man! That must have taken so much time and dedication! Keep going, I'm sure you'll make it big one day!
Thank you!! I put in a lot of time into learning this, and I think this stage of my guitar playing was a real turning point in my overall technique.
Great playing mate!!
2:11 to 2:13 is the hardest part of the whole song. You got through it. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. But you powered through like a pro and I guarantee nobody in the audience even noticed. That's exactly how you're suppose to do things live.
Thanks for the feedback! After the show I was a little bummed out about that section but seems like I covered it up well. It was a live performance that I was really nervous for so I was bound to make a few mistakes!
Fantastic!!! As an older player, I'm blown away by how much talent and ability today's players have. You all have truly pushed the bar to new heights. Keep it up!🤘
Thank you! All of the resources available to us online certainly help to accelerate our growth! If there's a technique that I'd like to polish, there's probably lessons and exercises to help me get better at it.
Hell yeah
Hell yeah, dood! Keep it up!
Not a single dislike.. glad we’re all on the same page, this kid rocks!
Thank you!
I think someone seen your comment and had to dislike lame. Lol
@@dvdpz89 .... what a prick.
Ha ha ha! I was expecting it at 3000 views, glad I got to 8 before someone disliked!
Sometimes dislike comes from bot
Really good playing
Misha? is that you?
🤘🤘🤘🤘
The audience was in the presence of an absolute beast and most of them didn't know. This is insane, dude!
Thanks so much, man!!
You are actually insane. Great job man
Thanks man!
Bossed it ! :)
awesome
Best Cover 👍
wow man,,,good performing! amazing🤘
Thanks a lot!
Nice dude, great to see a fellow katana family member
And nice to see another rotary fan!
Excellent work young man !
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job , Man !!! I wish I could play Periphery "like" stuff at that age . (Megadeth / Slayer / Testament were my Peripherys , Haha ) Subscribed and hope to see more of what you got . Stay at it , Brotha !!
Definitely! I've improved so much since I've started listening to progressive metal. Thanks for the support!
Awesome man
That was sick.
Thanks!
Amazing job - my hats off to you sir, that was awesome you killed it!!
This is awesome. I've been playing guitar for a few years now and still won't go anywhere near this song😂 props and massive respect to you dude. Hopefully the guys in Periphery see this!
Thank you! It took a lot of practice to get to this point!
The rick style and metal playing goes strangely well together, like I mean, that look cool as hell
Thanks!
great job!!
from japan!
Making Misha proud :D
Well done!!!!!
Man you look like the typical 90s nerd kid but you can play guitar really well, I have a feeling you're going to become one of the best.
Oh, thanks so much! That means a lot! Funny enough, I guess I am the typical 90s nerd kid when I'm not playing guitar. I guess that's why I like prog ha ha ha!
Great job!
This is sick af
Awsome job bruh
HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING
you absolutely KILLED the ending! i hear misha himself struggles with that part live, but you looked so calm you probably could have taken a nap while doing it lol. when did you start playing guitar? i only really started trying about 2 years ago at 18 and this song is still so hard to nail for me lolol
Yeah, this song was a real challenge back then for me too lol. I started playing when I was 4, so at this point I was probably 10 years into playing, whereas now it's about 13. To be fair, I think with a couple of years of solid practice (or even just really drilling it now), you will definitely be able to get it. It's not unachievable at all
EMG’s run the world. Well done young man. You’re way better at your age than I was 🤘🔥
Thank you!
This is epic!!
YOOOOOO THIS GUY IS SIIIICK
Very nicely played, my guy
Sold is soul for insane guitar skills
Great move
Daaaamn
Shred my fellow ginger, shred
cleeaaaaan!
Awesome job kid!!! 🎸🔥🔥
Thank you! It means a lot!
Nicely done bro!
Yooo man you are awesome!!!
Yoooo, that was badass...so sad i was starting college when i discovered Periphery, then i would have ripped Scarlet
Thanks! Yeah, I wish I got into them earlier too but, oh well. Misha and Plini are my idols and I'm trying to learn as much from them as possible. I'm going to the Plini masterclass next week and I can't contain my excitement. I'm thinking about doing a Scarlet cover soon, but want to do Absolomb first and I want to have a look at the offical P2 tabs before I do Scarlet.
You made it look so easy! Props man, really well done!
Thank you!
Bro! You absolutely slapped this whilst looking that sharp too! 🙌🏻🔥
Thank you!
Bravo dude! Keep it up!
Will do!
